I have worked in the fed system for many years. First off Glenn Bergman is the US Attorney for the Southern District of New York. He was appointed by trump after his firing of Preet Bararba, a most capable and well respected man who Trump thought would investigate him. All due respect toMr. Bergman, he is not a federal judge in the late Mr. Epstein’s case.
A little more than twelve hours after a different federal judge agreed to make public previously sealed documents for the first time ever,By Six pm Former governor and US ambassador to the UN, along with other appointments, Bill Richardson and former Senate leader George Michel’s names were released by press, within 12 hours, Mr. Epstein was dead.
It is extremely odd that a teenage sex trafficker would be placed in a cell with a NY cop facing quadruple homicide charges. Does not happen since sex traffickers are the most hated by prisoners.
The factsof the first attempted suicide would have placed Epstein in suicide watch for at the minimum 30 days, regardless of crowded conditions, cells have no where to place a bed sheet to hang oneself. there are no sheets and prisoners are basically naked. In my experience there is a 24/7 camera, especially in shortages in guards.
If El chaps and the worst terrorists were housed there, it seems odd to say the least that a man who was trumps friend for years in Palm Beach and would be using evidence to cut a deal is found dead and Bob Barr is handling the investigatio.

Unbiased coroners and medical examiners will say that it is extremely rare for a hyoid break in a male suicide. What a quick snow job Barr is neatly putting to a quick end, Unless Epstein lawyers go after this doggedly, it will be forgotten in a month. Epstein was the worst of worsts but his killing should be fully investigated. If Barr, whose father was head of the toney Dalton Schoo in N Y C when he hired Epstein without even a college diploma, is not conflicted out, our justice system has been taken over by trump.

How about what exactly he “hung” himself to. No mention in any report.
Re: Let's Go Mets
This entry made my day. Knowing how precious these things are to us at such a young age (and maybe not-so-young), I was thrilled to tears to read that the kid got it back.
The boy should ask Eric at 'Customer Experience' for his autograph.

Seems the coronor has found bones in the neck of Jeffrey Epstein were broken, consistent with strangulation.
Sure bones in the neck break if the hanging involves a drop, but this would have had to have been the affixation type of "hanging," off a bedpost or doorknob. There is no place to tie off a noose in those cells. Also, the paper sheets used would not take the force that would break the neck.
This apparently is not an apparent suicide.

The Jamaica Bay stables have been there for as long as I can remember and yes, you can ride on the beach.
But let's not forget that when I was a kid, Ocean Parkway also had a bridle path that ran to Coney Island. The stables at the south-western end of Prospect Park were a lot bigger in those days, and there were always people riding down to the ocean.
McDonald Avenue used to be known as Shell Road although nowadays only its last southern portion is, and men used to race their steeds there.
Dead Horse Bay didn't get its name for nothing.
Brooklyn and horses? Natch.

@B. - Thanks for the Ocean Parkway memories, and McDonald Avenue too. (I visited family on Dahill Road right near the Kings Highway stop on McDonald Avenue all the time. Happy memories of running for that F train way way back when I could make it up all those steps easily if I was on the street and heard the train coming. No idea why I was in such a rush back then.)
A songwriter at the BMI workshop had visited some well-to-do people on Ocean Parkway and been amazed at the opulence where he least expected it. He wrote a witty song about a family wanting to live on Ocean Parkway thinking it was like Park Avenue but in Brooklyn and not far from the beach. I mentioned privately to him that it's really just the 11223 zip code that's like that; by the time you get closer to the Broadwalk it was a difference of probably tens of millions of dollars in net worth. But his song was so much fun, no one wanted to lose the number, so we all decided if anyone said anything, use the line "it's a musical, not a documentary." :)

Freddie, at the very southern end of Ocean Parkway, on the left, where a big apartment building is now, there was an old rambling house, perhaps a hotel, like something out of "Hold That Ghost," where my dad as a kid used, on occasion in the 1930s, to see shoot outs. Must have been those bootleg-liquor days.
I remember that spooky tumbledown place well. I still see it when I go past.
Brooklyn as palimpsest.

“Fell asleep” — What, the guards were lying down while on duty? They put their heads down on their desks? No one noticed? Two guards at once? And somehow Epstein sensed this and decided to quickly kill himself while he had the chance? By somehow hanging himself from something less tall than he was? A man whose lawyers reported he was in good spirits? And whose injuries we now learn were consistentl with strangulation? And what about the CBS report that screams were heard from Epstein’s cell, and sounds that suggested a struggle, the night he died? We need some aggressive investigative reporting. There’s no reason to trust Barr, the man who lied about the content of Mueller’s report.

@Portia
I agree. The reporting is simply reporting the party line without any in depth following up. The larger issues are why this man was taken off of suicide watch after a week? Who is the head shrink, and what is his background? Does he make it a practice to shorten suicide watches, or is this a rarity. If so, why? It just makes no sense to remove the watch when dealing with an individual who just attempted suicide, and has a valid reason to do so again.
Secondly, why was Epstein left alone--specifically, why was his cell mate removed when it is policy to have a second prisoner in a cell with someone who has exhibited that he has and might hurt himself?
How about some background info on the shrink and the warden? Both seem to have simply stepped aside, allowing this to occur.

Yes let’s know the shrinks name who was in charge of Epstein during this period.. it all doesn’t sound Kosher...

@Billy from Brooklyn
But it's not NY Today's role to dig up that background info. For major stories like this, I wish NY Today would either simply link to an article from the main news section or discuss some aspect not covered in the news stories.
