IMHO (referencing a somewhat-related article), Kellyanne "Alternate Facts" Conway's repeated and flagrant violations of the Hatch Act make her a perfect fit for the job of Press Secretary. Plus she has the whole "I'm lying, I know that you know, and it warms my heart to know there's nothing you can do about it" thing down pat.
12
Jon Lovitz should take over.
9
Parting is such sweet sorrow.
To sleep, perchance to dream, of a real press secretary.
5
Answered Prayers
6
Sanders was paid to lie to the American people on our own dime. Good riddance. I hope no one gives any type of platform again.
7
Hey, Sarah left 3 months ago. It just took Trump this long to get her off the payroll!
6
Dear Sarah: Please don't come back to Arkansas. When he was Governor, your father thumped his bible and rightwing schtick so loudly any progress re: civil rights, education, and collective IQ was drowned out. He made our state a laughing stock. And, thank goodness, he doesn't live here anymore, so NO NEED for you to come back here and (dis)grace us with your presence.
23
I think the Democrat Left has lost sight of right and wrong, and what constitutes "foreign interference with out elections"... and applies standards only when it suits them. They are jumping up and down criticizing the president when he said he would "accept information from foreign sources" when they are silent in regard to Hillary Clinton not only accepting but PAYING for dirt from a (UK) foreign national (much of which was fictious and none verifyable) and using it to trigger an investigation into a sitting president when it didn't have enough dirt to defeat him in an election. I would say that false information leading to a soft "coup de etat" is on an entirely different level than just accepting information during an election. But yet the Democrats have thrown fairness, character and equal application of the law (and many other laws) out the window- at the expense of the soul of America.
2
Good riddance, but someone worse will get the job.
It’s been a race to the bottom for WH staff
6
Huckabee Sanders took advantage of her relationship with Trump to make $$$ in a no-show job. In addition, she wasted tens of thousands of US taxpayers' dollars to attend events such as meeting the Royals in the UK, while again, doing nothing of value for America.
I hope this unproductive and wasteful government comes to an end in 2020.
10
What we’ll remember is the sneer— that expression that said better than anything else that she knew she was lying, that she knew that we knew that she was lying, and that she knew it didn’t matter—she would get away with it and in fact be applauded for it by the only audience that counted. That this avatar of duplicity and mendacity should be thought of as a candidate for “public service” is one of the saddest commentaries on how far we have fallen.
15
Sarah Huckabee Sanders claims to be a Christian, but had no problem lying repeatedly for a hustler like trump. Mueller "outed" her as an admitted liar. At least we will not hear her grating voice anymore.
14
Hallelujah!
9
Sanders, your righteous lying for this immoral and corrupt administration will not be missed.
17
She stepped down the day she took the job. Instead of imparting information to the press, like her boss, she lied about everything. Her whole tenure set a dangerous precedent, that the press has no right to the truth.
15
So glad she won’t be taking space up representing this administration anymore. So many lies.
4
It's about time we got her off the public payroll.
I heard a rumor that she is going to start a professional liars club for junior Republicans. She will be an excellent role model.
15
Say whatever you want, but she is tough as nails and has to be smart and savvy to stay in that job sandwiched between Trump’s ego and his twitter account. That she is still standing after the press corp and other haves have tried to metaphorically eat her alive is amazing. I say you go girl!
1
@M - Yes, go girl, far, far away. Keep on walking, don't look back cause you won't like what you see. Next!
13
@M - "tough as nails, smart & savvy" --- OK, sure. Also utterly without integrity, regard for the truth, or respect for the American people's right to either. Those are the qualities that made her so successful in that position (at least in the eyes of her boss, whose point of view is MUCH more important than the truth), and will make her successful in whatever she undertakes next. (I think she would be perfect as the pastor of an evangelical megachurch.)
8
Somehow it’s hard to imagine Sarah Saunders trading in her role as the president’s chief stonewaller for a life as a soccer mom. She’ll take a summer vacation and then put on her political saddle and trot right back into the sawdust ring. The only question is whether she will throw her hat into it, opt for a lucrative career as Trump’s apologist on Faux TV. V
3
@Jane There is not enough time for the present white house bunch to reappear as Trump's apologists-16 months. They are looking for their next gig-without Trump. What will that be?
@pat
Candidates and authors of bad books.
1
Her next job? 1. Work at Faux News or
2. Work on Donnie Bonespurs 2020 campaign?
5
Sarah Huckabee Sanders will be remembered in the history books as having an analogous role to that of the Minister of Propaganda. Her life's work is shameful, possibly treasonous, and disgraceful.
17
Who really cares that she is leaving? She was basically a placeholder that did nothing but spout lies and drivel until she didn't. And then continued to live it up on the public dime until people began to notice. Good riddance.
12
will she step down gracefully, or trip and fall on her face as usual? is it bad optics to have a woman as press secretary during a war with Iran?
3
Glad to see her go. No tears here.
That said, it's sad to think that, as she was worse than Sean Spicer, worse than Scaramucci, her successor will probably be worse than her. There seems to be no bottom to the cesspool that this man, this administration, this party has brought to the country.
16
People like Sarah Huckabee don't deserve a single ounce of compassion or a moment of peace after leaving this administration.
16
Sanders filled a much needed vacuum. Anyone replacing her having to work for he who won't be named will by necessity be deplorable. Better to keep the job vacant as it has been for the last 3 months or so.
4
I thought SHS's departure was good news until I read this:
"Mr. Trump urged her to run for governor of Arkansas, an ambition she has quietly nurtured for some time"
So I think that's what she will do. She has an endorsement from Donald Trump in a state where that will do her good.
If she wins there, is her ultimate plan to run for President?
3
@Cyclopsina - She would never be elected President.
2
@DR: I hope with all my heart that you are right. However, I believed that Donald Trump could never be elected President.
1
Many of us thought that about Trump as well.
2
Sanders says serving Trump was the honor of a lifetime.
Of course it was. For someone capable of the depth of mendacity she practiced, serving a man whose entire existence is based on lying would, indeed, be an honor.
Now that she will spending more time with her family, I wonder how she will teach her children the concept of honesty.
23
What does it matter if she's leaving? She didn't have a press briefing the last couple of months anyway. When she did, she lied half the time.
The press does better with sources, leaks and driveway pressers with the Big Cheese. Although he lies all the time too.
3
How does she sleep at night?
24
@NG - On a bed of nails, over a puddle of acid. She sleeps quite well. I loathe and detest her, but we need someone just as tough, but truthful, to run for president on the Dems side. Time to play hardball.
3
Please God, no... Do not let this woman anywhere near a public office. Arkansas doesn't deserve Sarah Huckabee Sanders. The only person who deserved this horrible woman is the one who has let her go.
The good news for America is that we will no longer have to see her face on the news lying for Donald Trump. If Ms. Sanders cares anything for her country, she will retire and go into seclusion.
21
@Clay - "If Ms. Sanders cares anything for her country..."
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. That brought a smile to my face. Thanks for the chuckle.
3
I have to comment on what she said before she made her speech. She said that she didn't want to cry because it showed weakness. What!!! Crying is showing that you are human. A caring .loving, thoughtful individual. Not some cold heartless droid . Void of any emotion . It was truly sad to hear that coming from someone who worked with a person who is truly void of any emotion. Having worked with that monster for nearly 3 years. You'd think she would've cried herself to sleep every night.
20
@Charles
The GOP lost its moral compass.
Now, showing emotions of grief and sadness is "weakness", whereas lying 24/7 and then even not giving any press conference at all, during 94 days, AS the person paid by American taxpayers to be America's Press Secretary - a sign of utter weakness and fear to face critical journalists doing their jobs - is the new "moral" norm.
7
Good Riddance. There was never a more heinous lying press secretary lacking rigor and integrity. She is just an extension (paid for by taxpayers) of Fox News where she will likely end up as yet another pundit mouthpiece in the chorus of sycophants for the spineless Right.
22
Thanks to Sam Donaldson. Who is going to do the hard work of re-programming her?
2
GOOD RIDDANCE is all that needs to be said! Unfortunately the next one will be just as bad. Required qualifications are: do and say whatever trump says because he would never lie more than 10,000 times and counting.
13
Consumed with ambition, afflicted with a crude ideology, Sarah Huckabee Sanders saw herself standing at the lectern of the White House as what she thought was the position of Press Secretary to the President of the United States, a pretty heady position for a young man or woman. Alas, she was in fact the Public Liar of this shameful and amateurish President and his destructive administration defending the indefensible while attacking the unassailable. She was not without skill and a steely toughness but in the service of polluting our politics, our government, our foreign policy and our environment among others to the extent it will take decades to undo the damage .
20
Trump's tweet, for once, doesn't lie. It took a very special, ethically and morally deficient person to defend him for so long. She had extraordinary talents of dissimulation, delivering Presidential falsehoods with a straight RBF. She did an incredible job evading her primary responsibilities as press secretary and avoiding any accountability to the American people.
Slow claps for Ms. Sanders departure... Be Best!
24
Another grifter now set to become a lobbyist to monetize her time in office. She'll get a good ROI on her time with Trump.
9
Another reputation lost. Of course she knew exactly what she was getting into.
1
Doesn’t she need to be a preacher before she can be governor?
14
Some network stated that Sarah would be heading for greener pastures. I concur with her decision and reiterate my suggestion that she has all the attributes to make her an excellent goatherder.
11
To be honest I want to look away and not care about what happens in the USA but it’s just so crazy I can’t help myself so I read the comments section to reassure myself not all Americans are insane. For those who support Trump because they feel America has been taken advantage of, I’d like to point out that corporate America has exploited the world that’s why goods are made in China etc and in Australia everywhere you go there is a MacDonalds, Costco etc majority of the population have an iPhone, wear Nikes etc etc so maybe to balance the effects of globalisation corporate America should pay more taxes not less.
21
Sanders use the old "I want to spend time with my family" excuse to finally extricate herself from the Trump White House. Whatever works, but unless she plans to move the family to New York, where she'll be on Fox News, she won't be seeing much more of them that she does now.
5
Good riddance. A serial liar paid by taxpayers to defend a serial liar. And if Arkansas voters make her governor they will be the laughing stock of the world.
42
My kid isn't responsible for what I do that people may not like but I don't use my kid as a prop or defense. Her smug, intolerant, dishonest, victim routine was one of the most nauseating performances by a public official in some time. She and Kelly Anne should be set adrift on a metaphorical iceberg until such time as they have performed so many acts of contrition that it would be unChristian not to let them back into pubic society. I believe John Edwards is somewhere on that journey. Maybe he needs a hand, Haiti certainly does.
19
I always thought it amazing that she could go out and willfully lie and defend any and all actions by Mr. Trump, then presumably go home to her young children and tuck them into bed. Did she ever tell them to be honest and truthful? What will they think when they read about her? Of course they also have their sleazy, smirking grandfather to read about also.
25
Sarah Huckabee Sanders is a disgrace to the position that she held. No loss.
How she could stand in front of the American public and spew the lies that she told is remarkable.
22
Why is she waiting so long to leave?
7
Right? It’s not like she’s doing anything anyway.
5
@hddt 1
She’s waiting to get another taxpayer paid trip to Europe, why else?
I say “Good riddance!” Her real name should have been “Sarah Hucksterbee Sanders! Back in the 1990’s, when I was living in Rockville, Maryland, door-to-door sales persons were required to be licensed by the city and wear visibly a photo Id badge with the label “Huckster”. Unfortunately, it is highly certain that Trump will appoint a replacement that will be far more “swampy” and worse!a
7
I hope she will reflect on her time in Washington some day, and realized that she lied to the people of her country to protect an administration without a soul.......
13
Worst press secretary ever! She lied for a living. And then got upset when she was called on it. But don't expect that anyone who will do better will be appointed. Another Trumper no doubt.
16
After 94 days of being paid for doing nothing (which is actually good...when she was working at it she was doing serious harm) she has decided to lie for Trump and get really well paid for it--Faux News, of course.
Her problem, for life, is that noone will know when she is telling the truth. She is, to use her hero's favorite slurs, a "slimeball and a loser" and will not be missed.
At least, on Fox, we won't have to listen to or believe her.
17
How the press allowed themselves to be punched in the face continuously by this vile woman is their own fault. They were too afraid to stand up to her. Does anyone have any dignity and self-respect for their jobs anymore? Sanders and Trump behave like bullies because they can. We have become a bunch of corporate slave wussies and that's why we get abused on a daily basis. You want change? Fight. You want these creeps to ruin our lives? Be stupid and lazy.
16
In letting herself devolve over time as a human being, in lying without a blink of conscience, and through otherwise degrading the traditions of the office with which she was entrusted, Ms. Sanders spoke for the president and represented his administration's character more clearly than a lot of her predecessors did with the presidents they served. Now she'll make her millions from FOX and the other blinking lights of the Christian Right.
How will we ever recover from the damage being done as so many in Trumpland take this ride?
7
Ms. Huckabee has made this perfectly clear: she will tell lie after outrageous lie, for money. She may wish to hold elective office some day, but voters already know everything about her they need to know.
"What kills a skunk is the publicity it gives itself."
Abraham Lincoln
19
Well if Ms. Sanders is returning to Arkansas to spend more time with her family, she is among the many who have said, over the years, that that is why they were leaving. However, there has never been any proof that family comes first in Politics. The allure of all that power and press attention is like a aphrodisiac.
If Huckabee-Sanders is thinking of running for Governor of her State, she needs to clean up her lies and covering for the Administration. She shows no talent for being able to run a State. Other than treating the press like dogs and not living up to her supposed religious beliefs, like the Ten Commandments, what does she have to offer the citizens of Arkansas?
I do have to give her credit though. She was able to outlast others in the Administration. Who is going to protect Trump now with the press. Who is his next lackey?
Sarah-Huckabee Sanders knowing lied to the people of these United States. Why would the good people want a liar for Governor? I think they are smarter than that.
6
Not a surprise because there is a clear pattern here. Short, unsustainable bursts and either they move on or move them on. The fast paced changes provide the distraction and often the entertainment.
I wonder how Sarah will feel watching her press conferences in 20 years time!
5
Sarah probably knows tougher times are ahead as Trump rolls the dice to decide war with Iran or not.
4
Quite frankly who cares if Sarah Huckabee Sanders resigned as White House press secretary? Is anyone's life going to drastically change because you won't have her to kick around anymore? This is hardly an earth shattering story.
I only hope she leaves her "green book" detailing where low level Trump staffers can and cannot eat to her successor.
3
Another useless trump appointee moving on to support the useless president in another venue. She was and is a waste of time and space. Arkansas, do the right thing and ignore her as she has ignored the truth.
22
By now, she must have read the Mueller Report from cover to cover and figured she is a dead center target for being an accomplice in a serious “obstruction to justice” case. She may love the president but she obviously loves herself more. What do rats do at the sign of a sinking ship?
8
How can she step down, she never stepped UP.
31
Sarah is going to work as a spokesperson for an unnamed cosmetic company’s new smoky grey eye shadow, called ‘Truth’.
3
The only solace I take when I think of Sarah Huckabee Sanders is ... history. I am convinced she will occupy an important, if not unique, place in the history books. A case study of shamelessness and immorality.
11
History will hopefully barely remember Huckabee or her terrible failure in a position meant to tie the public to their White House. Thank God.
At some point the name will fade along with those like, Kato who?
6
There hasn’t been a White House press conference in over three months. Enough said.
12
We want our money back with interest; especially for the last 94 days and counting until Ms Sanders leaves. On second thought, maybe it's a small price to pay to get rid of Trump's most ardent enabler and supporter of every lie to come out of his mouth. Don't let the door hit you on your way out Sarah.
19
Doesn't matter. The real press secretary for the last 2 1/2 years has been twitter.
11
So long, farewell, auf wiedersehen, goodbye.
She flipped, she flopped,
She only told us lies.
(Yeah, I know, l’m really old)
24
It was a sad spectacle to see the office of WH Press Secretary so misused as by Ms. Sanders. That a press secretary acts as spokesperson for the President is understandable. But that Ms. Sanders was willing, knowingly, to lie outright goes beyond what I have experienced during the last ten presidencies. She is a person with whom I share few values. I am glad that she will be gone.
8
Am wondering since Huckabee is leaving at month’s end, why she was in London with our POTUS during his last visit. It seems unlikely that she hadn’t already given notice.
A small point in the list of a tenure marked by unprofessionalism. But once again, taxpayers foot the bill for Trump’s traveling, entitled coterie.
23
I saw Sanders as being perpetually angry. She spoke with contempt for the very people she was supposed to be addressing on, if not a daily basis, at least weekly. She would come out with a sneer and just dare the press to question her lies for the president and then came the fake outrage. Sanders was perhaps a "warrior" but with all that self-pity oozing she came across as petulant and a crybaby.
29
This Administration has been a total humiliation to the United States in every conceivable way. Every thing and every person that touches Trump is either revealed as filth or turns into filth. Foreign leaders, domestic politicians, judges, you name it. Even the formerly revered Constitution has been shown to be a hollow shell of weakness at best and inequity at worst. He does have an almost magical character that way. So with the fall of such larger objects, how could his press secretary be otherwise? So long, Sarah Slanders. The one good thing I can say about you is that you are young, so you will probably have a long life ahead of you in which to suffer - in this world - for your sins. Go and be shunned for decades. You deserve it.
25
When she is out of the job someone needs to look into her lying to the American People and prosecute her for it.
19
SHS was an angry, spiteful employee of the American taxpayers. The energy she put into disinformation was truly exceptional. She was a perfect fit for her role as enabling the most corrupt President in the history of the United States.
What an uncomfortable scene it was watching Trump fawn over her at her exit ceremony.
You are who you hang with, without a doubt.
33
Oh, come on folks - go easy on this lady.
It is not the easiest job in the world.
Folks might want to research or Google their brains to name press secretaries of the 44th.
Even as a political junkie, I had to Google it.
The first secretary of Obama, one Mr. Gibbs - lasted about 2 years - and this was supposed to a no drama presidency. One of his choicest remarks was about the staff of Mr. Obama's immediate predecessor, W. He said that they all should be "drug tested."
In any event, like other china that this POTUS has broken - I think the job of press secretary is one we as tax payers can bank on not spending.
The world over, leaders have abandoned these rituals - even Putin hardly has anyone speaking for him.
And as to journalists fawning over glory of yester years - they may want to remember a NYT profile of one Mr. Benjamin Rhodes - an assistant to 44th.
He was asked his opinion on White House press corps.
He said, ".....Most of the outlets are reporting on world events from Washington. The average reporter we talk to is 27 years old, and their only reporting experience consists of being around political campaigns. That's a sea change. They literally know nothing."....."
That's the rest of the story.
1
@Neil
It's not the easiest job in the world indeed. Why should it be? You get an extremely high salary, and the honor and privilege to serve his country at the level of the very highest office in the world.
Even without having watched all previous Press Secretaries, Sarah Huckabee Sanders in comparison stands out for one thing: she did NOT do her job. As Press Secretary, she simply fled from the WH Press Room and failed to give any press conference in 94 days.
She went on to receive a six-figure salary paid by taxpayers' money anyhow.
Can you please give us an example of ONE private sector business where it is allowed to do something similar?
Secondly, I regularly watched press conferences, under Obama and G.W. Bush. They DID their job. Day after day, most of the time. They did what ALL democratically elected presidents have to do: to have the moral strength to patiently answer critical questions from journalists, without recurring to lies.
As to Gibbs: he had a real sense of humor, as your quote shows. Watch him for an hour, in 2009, for instance, and then watch Sanders, and you'll see how it's Gibbs and Gibbs alone who truly did an "incredible jobs". And the exact same thing goes for other, previous press secretaries (under Democratic and GOP Presidents).
ONLY in dictatorships (Putin, China, Saudi Arabia) are journalists denied direct and public access to the president.
Freedom of the press without the freedom to question a Press Secretary daily is anti-democratic.
27
@Neil. Your using the usual defense used constantly by this administration and its followers to justify bad behavior-point out how someone else did something wrong. Kids try this method all the time-speaking as a mom, we don’t allow it. Of course it’s a difficult job-being president is the most difficult job in the world. But when you’re willing to justify anything and say anything to defend and praise Mr. Trump’s and vilify those who oppose him or his actions, that’s when we should object.
1
I am trying to think of the name of the show that Sanders will soon host on Fox News:
1. "The Truth" with Sara Huckabee Sanders
2. "Pray With Us" with Sarah Sanders and Mike Huckabee
3. "Alternative Facts" with Sarah Sanders and Kellyanne Conway
4. "Trump is God" with Sarah Sanders and Franklin Graham
5. "The Sarah Sanders Comedy Hour" A show replaying all of her past news conferences and gaggles while she was in the White House.
33
@slime2
Thanks for the good laugh! Laughed so hard blew coffee out my nose and had to clean desk. I vote for "Trump is God". Would have a great Sunday following down here.
2
It'll be interesting to see what happens in Arkansas maybe about 24 months from now. If Double-O (the Orange One) is still in office, Colonel Sanders's wife has a better chance of coasting into the governor's office. If he's not, likely she'll still run--what and who do the Dems do to claw that job back.
That's a job many notable blues have held including some quite famous ones. And quite recently at that. So it'll be fun to see if she can hold onto actual facts and policies as well as she can resentments and put-downs.
At least she saved Spicer's reputation by consigning him to the land of the long forgotten.
3
Except on SNL! He’ll live on in Melissa McCarthy’s hilarious impressions of Spicey!
4
She leaves having performed her duties in such a way that she is, and will forever be, known as an icon of dishonesty, low ethics and political divisiveness. What a legacy she leaves to her children. May she live the life she deserves.
27
Maybe she just couldn't spew lies day in and day out anymore. Or maybe I'm giving her too much credit that she might have a conscious.
13
Sarah Huckabee Sanders has reminded us of the very worst that a "religious education" may bring out in people: the deep desire to blindly do no matter what an "authority" asks you to do, even if it means sinning 24/7.
Because obviously, it IS sinning if you obey by telling horrible lies to the entire American people, on a daily basis, and then as US Press Secretary refusing to hold press conferences and having the guts to try to defend the president's words and actions by politely and patiently answering tough, critical questions by journalists who were asked to do so by their own audience (across the political spectrum).
First lying on a daily basis, and then shutting up for 94 days. That's what her amoral boss asked her to do, and she
obeyed.
And this is what she deliberately calls the "honor of lifetime" ... all while being the daughter of a GOP pastor.
Could anything sum up better what's utterly wrong with the GOP and their conception of religion, than what Huckabee Sanders has done to the White House?
The GOP has lost all true sense of honor and integrity.
They became an amoral party long before they decided to see in Trump their best leader, and Sarah was a mere puppet in their hands, ready to be replaced by the next GOP man or woman who was told to shut up and obey as a child, and now can only maintain some semblance of self-esteem when that's exactly what (s)he's doing, especially when your boss happens to occupy the highest office in the world.
17
I'd like to say good riddance but with this administration the successor is likely to be worse. Each time I think it can't possibly get worse it does.
14
I often wondered how Ms. Sanders slept at night. What did she tell herself, to justify her total lack of integrity, honesty, empathy, and humanity, in order to stand up in front of the world and outright lie.
19
Since her sole duty doing the daily press conference was eliminated, she essentially had a no-show job. It seems ironic that she was fired when she never directly answered a single question.
8
Whew!
She did indeed show "what [the President's] beliefs were" - and was the most loyal factotum. If Arkansas wants her, they deserve her and her disdain for evidence of a responsive government.
It's a little chilling - she survived not because she was able to suppress any of her own values; but rather, because what we heard is what she is.
Bye bye.
7
Some months ago, SHS said she wanted her legacy to be "transparency and honesty"...she's leaving the end of the month with deception and confusion. Well done, faithful servant.
11
Observing Sarah's body language is interesting. When giving answers at the lectern that strained credulity, her eyes looked everywhere but at the questioners, she shuffled papers, and her cheek muscles looked tight and twitchy. Comparing those "tells" to her relaxed demeanor in other settings like processing into a State Banquet suggest there was some discomfort with the dissembling she had to do. I don't feel sorry for her -- she showed no ethics whatsoever.
10
Only this president* would employ a press secretary that doesn’t give press conferences.
32
When asked why she was leaving..”Fox will pay me more money than the WH, for the same lies I’ve told working in the WH!”
31
Sarah "Huckster" Sanders - "her North Star was the president" - probably the finest example of the deterioration of the nation without any self-refection or remorse. And, of course, she brags to be a Christian! if it wasn't so tragic, it would be slapstick!
42
Please do. Let the door hit you on the way out. A robot by any other name. After a rest I’m sure she can get a job working for Russia today which I read on social media is Trumps second choice for television viewing after the Murdoch programming. I also read that she was afraid that dementia was contagious. If you like trump then you already have it Sarah.
11
Of course she had to go, her job was eliminated 94 days ago.
19
Can anybody please explain here how not giving any press conference in 94 days, as America's Press Secretary, is somehow equivalent to doing "an incredible job" ... ?
In WHICH private sector business can you do nothing for almost 100 days and still do an "incredible job" ... ?
It's a Press Secretary's CORE business to give press conferences.
No longer allowing journalists to ask the Press Secretary tough questions on a daily basis means shutting down all potential criticism and replacing it with unilateral government propaganda.
No matter how much you disagree with what certain media think and do, you cannot possibly be a patriot and understand and reject what totalitarianism means, and then somehow condone what Sarah Huckabee Sanders has done and what Trump's next Press Secretary will undoubtedly do too.
And that a whole army of Republican rank and file (and often self-declared "very religious" people) is ready to take over from her is merely a testimony to how utterly corrupt the Grand Old Party has become today.
Jesus didn't say: lie as much as you want, 24/7, if that's how you'll be able to turn some of your own religious ideas into laws. He said: "don't lie". THAT's what moral courage and strength mean.
That the GOP needs professional liars to still be able to keep its "ratings" high, proves that it isn't the "party of values" anymore at all.
It's a totally hollowed out party, driven merely by personal greed and absurd ideology. And yes, that's a problem.
18
Err, no we won’t miss her.
5
Quietly hilarious writing in a Times news article. The reporters of course had a great deal of wonderful information to use, and they made the most of it.
3
Everyone in Trump's administration is either grossly unqualified or criminally complicit. Sanders is both. I hope the day comes when she is imprisoned for crimes against the state.
23
Expect Sanders to go on to become governor of Arkansas as the right already has their ducks lined up to get her into the governor's mansion. The Dems are caught flat footed again with no real strategy or personnel to stop the juggernaut that is the republican party. SAD
@Curtis M
My advice to you: start doing some fact-checking on the current 24 Democratic candidates.
Most of them have MUCH more experience than Sanders or Trump, and many of them have proven to have not only very clear ideas and fact-based policy proposals, contrary to the GOP, they lso have a track record proving that they are competent enough to know how to make progress, election after election, step by step (= how all democratic, lasting progress is made).
In the meanwhile, Obamacare alone has already saved an additional half a million American lives during the last decades, whereas thanks to Obama's global Paris climate agreement, and to the highly competent, moral governing of Democrats in California, the world's fifth biggest economy is perfectly on track to succeed to keep the Paris promises, and go on to negotiate and then achieve the next step.
The only way to accelerate this movement is ... to stop complaining, and start informing yourself, and most of all, to vote! ;-)
Don't wait for change, BE the change you're waiting for. Because cynicism never helped us to move forward, remember?
5
@Ana Luisa You're wrong. Hillary Clinton had much more experience than Trump and look where that got her. 24 Democratic presidential candidates does nothing to address the preponderance of republican governors or senators. The Dems have been outmaneuvered and outflanked on every level. They've lost the judiciary for decades and seem to have no strategy for getting back the Senate. They can't even impeach a clearly criminal president. What's missing on the Dem side is leadership. Leadership that knows how to fight back and stop being used as a doormat. And until the Dems start learning to play the game as viciously as the Reps, I'm afraid they are doomed.
My first reaction:Good Riddance. My second: She'll likely be replaced by someone worse [as an example, Barr replacing Sessions]. My third: If this is like so many vacancies, it won't be filled at all, and that could be an improvement.
8
Good riddance.
A professional liar who has not a shred of credibility will not be missed.
25
Glad she loved every minute of it. I hated every minute of it.
19
Good riddance. Her disgraceful tenure should follow her for the rest of her life. We need to peacefully protest any corporation or organization that employs her in the future.
33
Wherever she goes to work I’m boycotting and their advertisers.
27
If only Sanders will take Kellyanne with her when she goes...
17
She is leaving the White House?
Oh Darn! Now what are we going to do?...
6
Boycott wherever she goes to work.
14
I have often wondered whenever she spoke....”How do you sleep at night?”
18
They sleep at night because they have an extremely dark world view, where human nature is supposed to be inherently bad and "sinful", and really sincere, trustworthy people are supposed to not exist.
Only when you came to adopt such an utterly cynical conception of humankind, can you start to imagine that all that is still possible to do is to lie and cheat as much as "anybody else", but at least to do so in order to defend what you still see as "moral values" - even though moral values aren't real values anymore, if they're not based on allowing people to grow and thrive and be truly, deeply compassionate and happy (neurological studies have proven that the one cannot go without the other), and are instead mere "commands", mere formal rules to abide by and impose on yourself and others by law.
Watch Fox News and you'll see that they're CONSTANTLY cultivating this world view, for two decades now.
Of course, certain self-declared progressives have come to adopt a similar cynicism too. But in their case, they at least don't believe in imposing hollow moral rules by law, and they often refuse to cultivate racism and purely financial wealth. So they simply stay home instead of voting. That's bad enough, in terms of impact on who wins elections, but it's nothing compared to what the GOP is doing to this country - and to its own voters.
In the meanwhile, Obamacare already saved an additional half a million American lives. That's how Obama sleeps well AND has no nightmares.
8
As you consume all the comments written about Sarah Huckabee Sanders, digest them with an understanding that her boss is far worse.
8
Honored to have served her country? I missed that episode. Mostly, as I remember it, she slavishly lied on behalf of a white supremacist demagogue who is doing irreparable damage to the nation. Oh and her rendition of lügenpresse was spot on.
17
She was the bottom of the barrel in every way, yet her successor will almost undoubtedly be worse. That is the pattern under this president. My pessimism is exceeded only by my disgust.
16
Wonderful news, could only be topped by Trump himself stepping down. But what are the chances that anything in the WH will change? I know, I know, slim to none. This is not a president who reflects on his mistakes and there is little chance that he will replace Sanders with someone who will promote truth and honesty. What a low bar Trump and Sanders have set. Biden is right. Four more years of this and we are irreparably harmed.
8
Ms. Sanders cared about the president, and had a sensitivity to people and their feelings. Occasionally, even tearing up. This is more than can be said to the insensitive restaurant owner in Washington, D.C. who once asked her to leave. She quietly complied. The restaurant owner represents the worst in people, and Sarah the best.
@Jack
Uh ... since when is occasionally tearing up, as a woman, enough to be qualified "the best"?
She deliberately decided to lie and cheat for a horribly lying and cheating president for years.
That's not representing "the best in people". It's literally representing the worst.
How come people have lost their moral compass so much as to no longer see immoral behavior when it happens - even not when it happens on a daily basis ... ?
26
@Ana Luisa
It is obvious that many people do not like our president's personality. Especially people in foreign countries. I did not vote for President Trump because of his personality. (After all, I'm not going to marry the guy). I voted for President Trump because of his policies and the direction in which he intended to take our country. Other countries have taken advantage of the U.S. taxpayer for way to long, (their cost for prescription medications, defense, etc.) and previous presidents didn't have the political courage to challenge that. (The dislocation a change in policy would create in the stock market, etc., was always too close to the next election for their comfort.) President Trump has been the first president during my life time to not be intimidated by those issues. Ultimately, we do not care if you do not like his personality. You don't have to marry him either.
@Jack
Thanks for your reply, but with all respect, we were talking about what makes someone qualified to be a press secretary, remember?
Secondly, it's an illusion to imagine that, as Kellyanne Conway said in Trump's defense, "there is no need for morality in a US president". A constantly lying president cannot but be incompetent, when it comes to achieving his campaign promises.
That's why after two years of fully controlling DC, there is and won't be any wall, nor any comprehensive immigration reform, nor any repeal and replace Obamacare, nor any deficits cut (Obama cut Bush's $1.4 trillion deficit by 2/3, Trump doubled it), nor any infrastructure bill, nor any North Korea or Iran or Israeli-Palestinian deal, etc.
Trump inherited a booming economy. All Economical graphs show NO Trump dent at all - let alone the annual 4% GDP that he promised.
And he didn't lower prescription dug costs. He didn't make them increase their defense budgets either - it's Obama already who asked NATO members to increase their defense spending to 2% of their GDP, Trump didn't change anything here, except for undermining the bonds between with strongest allies.
So he did NOTHING at all, when it comes to policies.
That you believe he did has to do with only one thing: you blindly believe his tweets, and without daily press conferences journalists have less occasions to publicly show how false their are.
7
To say that my Arkansas friends did not jump for joy upon hearing of Sarah's impending return would be putting it mildly.
10
It’s not like she was actually doing anything anymore anyway.
Obviously no reason to replace her.
6
Sanders was THE perfect example of what's utterly wrong with the GOP today, and why it is no longer a Grand Old Party at all.
Integrity, honesty, being available, as Press Secretary, for the press, accepting tough questions from journalists as a basic democratic value, accepting the privilege to serve the country and the office of the presidency (rather than the person of the president) ... it's all gone now.
For this reason alone already, the GOP deserves to be MASSIVELY defeated in 2020.
Yes, having a president who spends half of the day and half of the night re-tweeting Fox News lines and cultivating cynicism and fake news is clearly a perfectly effective way to keep your own "ratings" among your base high, as a political party.
It's also the very opposite of effectively governing, and it destroys the very heart of America's greatness.
So it is totally - totally - unacceptable.
11
I want our America back! This is a small step in the right direction. Enough of the lies and the hate.
10
@Ross
He will replace her with another liar, of course.
The only way to get our America back is to realize how utterly corrupt the entire GOP has become, and engage in real, respectful debates with friends, neighbors, family and colleagues (from cynical, not voting progressives to cynical, voting Trump supporters) to show them what's at stake and why voting out the GOP today is the ONLY way to MAGA, before it becomes too late anyhow.
The fact that Sarah Huckabee is perfectly replaceable and that tons of GOP staff are impatient to take her job and start lying as much as she did, shows that the problem had nothing to do with merely Trump or Huckabee, and everything with the GOP itself, who has become rotten to the core.
2
No integrity, no real expertise in government or business, given to fabrications, she ought to fit right in at Fox. At least now we won’t be paying her salary.
Good riddance.
16
I'll believe she is actually leaving when both she and Trump call it fake news.
5
It is about time for a real, working president and a real working press secretary.
8
She will be replaced by a large mannequin with a permanent bored smirking frown and on it's hand a small recording machine with a large red on/off button which, when pushed will spew out Trump's most recent tweet ... To Donnie, that's talent !
A janitor will be responsible for updating the 'content' daily.
5
Now she'll have time to contemplate the many facets of her soul with God.
13
I pray the heaven she and her father like to reference does indeed exist. I hope to arrive there, where I know I'll never encounter either one of them.
14
Help Wanted: Looking for candidates without any regard for the Truth whatsoever. Must be able to disguise reality and serve self interests. All applicants must be good liars and conform to altered belief systems. Primary duty will be to defend ludicrous dogmatic assertion- no matter how absurd. Also special consideration will be given to those who can distort facts and whose mind is clouded by ideology.
13
Irony of ironies, "very fine woman" is now, of course, a very apt description of Sarah Sanders (on both sides).
2
Like Trump, Ms. Sanders never made a mistake, and everyone is happy in the world.
And the delusions march on...
4
The right disposition indeed. It was difficult to watch on those rare occasions she held press conferences. She treated intelligent people who were doing their job with disdain and utmost arrogance. If she was great, what/who comes next?
12
No, we didn't elect you, Sarah. But we got stuck with you, just the same, like we are stuck with Ivanka, Jared, and the many others who willingly enable the most dangerous president in American history and snub their noses at truth and the rule of law. You may be a bit player in terms of history, but without people like you, people like Trump could not be nearly as successful as they are. Give yourself a pat on the back for all you've done to further erode the quality of political dialogue in this country. I feel like you told more lies than anyone else besides Trump himself, and that you enjoyed the power telling lies gave you and that you enjoyed insulting journalists and reporters because you could. What meddling will you get up to in the future, I wonder? What damage will you continue to do to our democracy behind the scenes? I'm not afraid of you, but I am afraid of the cracks that people like you make for people like Trump to slip through and gain and retain power.
20
Beautiful, just beautiful. THANK YOU!
6
She will have to explain her lies and misleading information to her kids at some point - when all of this is over and people will ask how these things could happen and what their families did during the time.
8
Of course, neither Ms. Sanders or the President killed off the daily news briefing, but it died at the hands of attention-starved fake newsmen destroying the setting in order to pump up their airtime and public exposure.
The media's completely destruction of its reputation for independent journalism will be the salient point of the first quarter of this century in the history books.
1
Can Sanders be forced to repay the American taxpayer for dereliction of duty? Can she be charged with perjury or is she also above the law like her employer.
8
Ms. Sanders certainly followed orders and supported Trump in order to retain her position. She needed to go to a finishing school to learn how to speak and to respond to questions posed by the news media. Her personality was uninspiring and her answers came off of being stilted and ill-conceived. Maybe she became tired of being Trump's puppet and Fox News' advocate. She probably concluded that the position didn't warrant her remaining. She appeared quite tense when she did hold a press meeting. The position's demand overcame her.
That's not a human being, it's a desiccated husk. Hopefully with time and effort, Sanders can regrow/revive/regain her soul. I wish her good luck.
3
Buh-bye Evangelical Queen. We´ll miss your forked tongued hisses.
36
Goodbye and good riddens ! Treated the press so disrespectfully and with such impunity.
Happy to see her go . She’s not a nice person .
20
This should have been a package deal with another bellicose blond, Kelleyanne. Sarah took the job untrained and undeserved, and her exit could have come a whole lot sooner. Thanks for nothing, Sarah, for denigrating and turning the office of the Press Secretary into the Office of Propaganda. A true disgrace. I wonder what press credentials she had in the first place to earn this position, wrote a weekly newsletter for her home school?
27
From the Guardian:
"Kurt Bardella, a former Congressional aide who switched from Republican to Democrat, tweeted on Thursday: “No one should ever offer her a job ... she shouldn’t be given a book deal. She shouldn’t be given a pundit deal. She should never be allowed to be given any kind of platform ever again to lie to the American people.”"
Yes indeed.
55
Sarah Huckabee evidences the old notion that “the apple does not fall far from the tree”. Of course, one can be a better person than one’s defective parents, if one wants that and works toward that goal. In Huckabee’s case, however, she is no better than her father, Mike Huckabee, who is loathsome.
19
I applaud Ms. Sanders. The press secretary's job is to defend the President and his administration, which she did shamelessly. Moreover, she effectively ended the enormous waste of time daily press briefings. Nothing was ever learned from them and they provided a platform for reporters to pontificate and ask the same meaningless questions over and over. Good job Ms. Sanders and enjoy the next phase of your career.
4
I’ll buy the shamelessness part, but not the idea that nothing’s learned from a properly conducted press conference.
Perhaps the same question is asked over and over because it’s never answered.
2
@MJG Hmm. What she did was defend the lies, the deflection, the distraction and further labeled the press as "fake" when the press attempted to find the truth in a cess pool of lies.
The questions are meaningless when we the people demand, well the enlightened people, the truth, demand ethical behavior.
No, the pontificating came from Sanders and the other alternative facts master KellyAnne.
1
I refuse to believe this story until I see her angrily deny it in a press conference
12
Sister Sarah is just like her grifting father. His biggest contribution as governor of Arkansas was a weight loss program for school kids where they had to weigh in every week and letters were sent home to their parents telling them their kid was obese.... yeah...that really helped their self esteem. (His huge weight loss was later suspected to be through bariatric surgery.) If Sarah runs for governor, as Trump has suggested, I doubt she will get much traction after the debacle that was her father's tenure in office. She hasn't been seen in so long, I honestly thought she was already gone.
8
Wonderful news!
9
So, exactly how much have we, the taxpayers, been paying Ms. Sanders to lounge around the White House and go on all-expense-paid vacations around the world?
I'm glad this moocher is leaving. Now to drain the rest of the swamp...
19
She’s a disgrace to every honest press secretary there has ever been in the White House. (Although I’m sure they all lied sometimes) What has always amazed me is how she perceives herself as a Christian,a mother,s patriot and can still lie to us day after day. Karma is a thing Sara.
34
We'll all miss that sparkling personality of hers.
Another trump tool heads for the door marked 'E'
14
This is not news, and should not have been covered so breathlessly by the Times. Failed editorial decisions. It has no impact.
2
Oh....so the Secretary of Propaganda is leaving? I wonder who will replace her at the White House pulpit of mendacity?
28
Good riddance! Sadly, the loudspeaker will go away but not the liar behind it.
16
Good riddance to the spokesliar.
11
What does Trump have on these people?
The loyalty, the affection is beyond reason.
They buzz around him like so many flies.
But what really gets me about people like Sanders is their lack of empathy for the lives and people they enable Trump to slander, ruin and destroy. Honest people, who have integrity and character.
She is a reason why religion is held in such low repute. All those lies she told but a mere buzzing in America's ear. Fly away Sarah.
34
Boo Hoo. Bye bye paycheck/benefits for not doing much
of anything for the past few months. Hello Fox news.
14
"(In an undocumented interaction, she asked the Prince of Wales to sign her dinner menu. He did.)"
Though neither surprises me, I'm trying to decide which I find tackier.
7
@Tanner he ad to once she had asked - like a gurning tourist.
Good riddance Sarah Huckabee Sanders! You are a fine example of what it looks like when you make a deal with the devil! So much for your religious beliefs, right? What a hypocrite! I hope the fine people of Arkansas are smarter than you think they are...I hope you are defeated in a landslide when you run for governor. I don’t know how you sleep at night.
30
Sarah Sander's greatness was that she reminded us every day how easily America could become a totalitarian state. She was Donald Trump's "Bagdad Bob" and we must never forget what she did to America.
42
Sarah Huckabee "Lying for Money" Sanders is exactly the kind of governor that Arkansas needs and deserves. I wish her, and all of the 60% of Arkansas who voted for Trump everything they want, which is apparently permanent economic decline, massive opioid addiction and out of control government spending to create a white ethnostate that ranks almost dead last in health care, education, economy, infrastructure and crime.
I sincerely hope the 30% of Arkansas that didn't vote for an openly racist demagogue is able to find their way to a "sanctuary city," where you will be welcomed with open arms.
20
Perhaps she has finally realized her children will eventually find out what she did and be humiliated.
19
What prison are they transferring her to?
13
What gets me is that Sarah Sanders considers herself a devout evangelical Christian . Nonsense. She lied time after time like her boss and was a force of darkness in our democracy. I don’t know how she can live with herself. She and her boss are living proof that power corrupts.
26
Just as O.J. declared his intention to spend his time looking for the “real killer”, perhaps Sarah can spend the time between now and the 2022 Arkansas Gubernatorial Race trying to find two equally non-existent things - her conscience and her moral compass.
24
leaving to focus on her modeling career
8
Who will be the next Press Secretary? Probably no one.
7
What a fitting lie to cap a legacy of lying. Maybe mortality and fear of the afterlife got the best of her.
Naaaaaaahhhhh.
4
She was a disgrace like the rest of the trump cabal...She was paid to bare false witness for trump. Isn't that one of the Ten Commandments? Isn't she a Christian?
12
Peter Drucker, the management guru once wrote: A person of integrity does not ask who is right...but what is right." Sanders never bothered with the question. She went with Trump. Blindly, passionately, unapologetically. She was his apologist, explainer, defender, decoder, and human tweet dispenser. The problem was , and remains, Trump is a liar. Defending Trump means defending his lies. So, Sanders integrity ( or lack of it) was always on display. Why she didn't leave months ago says volumes about Trump and the people he surrounds himself with. Pathetic.
9
You are an utter and indelible disgrace, Ms Sanders, and you have done this country a grave injustice. No one - no one - will remember you as anything other than an unabashed liar and an apologist of hate.
17
Lying runs in the Huckabee family...like father, like daughter.
12
She should be shamed everywhere she goes for the rest of her life until she repents for her sins.
10
She did not have a news conference since March 11th. She did not show up to her job. No one from the free press has been able to question her about the NEWS from the Whitehouse for over 90 days. Even when she did show up she lied, equivocated,
was uncivil and just openly vulgar. But these are the ongoing traits in this corrupt administration where people have no-show jobs, abuse their privilege, abuse institutions, bill the tax-payers, lie through their teeth, and leave because their bored, embrassed, under investigation, in contempt of congress, convicted, on their way to jail, or in jail. May this propagandist stumble and fall and we never hear from her again. Oh and she gets to collect $180000 for a hardly earned salary. Complete Trumpian vulgarity. Put a “T” on it, Sarah.
29
She left some tiny shoes to fill.
36
"That's not what I said, and I know it's hard for you to understand even short sentences..."
- Sarah Huckabee Sanders
14
Good riddance to bad rubbish! Such a very ‘unfortunate’ person, appearance, and personality...an integral part of the disgrace and the derision that Trump’s ridiculous mockery of every decent American institution has brought onto our heads. Can we suppose that ‘God’ also wanted her to prevaricate at every turn as she’s so certain that ‘God’ wanted Trump to be President? She should slither and scurry back to the hollows of extended Appalachia from whence she came, and rejoin her rightful place among those ignorant snake-handling religious people who roll down the aisles in the sawdust, speaking in ‘tongues’. That people of her ilk dare to call themselves ‘Christian’ defiles the Body of Christ.
19
@Sic Semper TyrannisI lived in Alabama and you got it right. Can remember going out me a Catholic with a woman who was a Southern Baptist to church heard the attacks on Catholics, Jews, gays and of course alcohol. On Saturday nights several of my friends and I would drive to Mississippi since the drinking age was less. Always your car against the wall so no one saw your plate and caved the window in. In those dark clubs I every weekend recognized those same men drinking till pie eyed who would be shouting the next morning about the evil of drink.Like the Christians that support Trump fakes and liars. Jim Trautman
10
And amidst the darkness, there is some light.
3
So her excuse for lying about the arch criminal in the White House is that "no one elected me to anything?"
In other words, it's not her fault that she is lying to cover up a wide variety of Trump's crimes because, no one elected her to anything.
She is a sociopath, just a lying sociopath. Amoral, unethical, manipulative, lying, sociopath.
23
I don’t think she’s a sociopath. TheDevil offered her the world and she took it. Can you imagine at her age she’s been the the President, press secretary—HURRAH!— but for Trump? She’ll be laughed at for ever.
4
Yessss. One less descipicable liar in our government. She's a joke. Bye!!!! Great day for our country.
12
I understand she will be joining her father at the Noah's Ark Museum where they will part of the humans walking with the dinosaurs. She deserves no respect, a liar, who bad mouthed people and provided nothing but lies. What a group Kelly Ann who does nothing, but living with her head in the swamp should be fired, but of course she is defending her right to be a liar and shill for the Trump clothes empire. Like the other mutts in the White House she has never the Hatch Act, but I am sure if a public employee attacked the chief mutt would demand they be fired. Jim Trautman
3
I am going to have to go with Dick Cheney for her replacement. If he backs out Satan comes in a close second choice though his moral standards may too high.
14
I would almost like to see her run for governor just to see if our people are so stupid that they would elect someone like that...no, wait...
9
@XXXIn the Red states they are! Jim Trautman
2
So the Ministry Of Truth needs a new face?
Is John Lovitz available?
9
I thought she did a rather well job under the circumstances and am sorry to see her leave. Good luck to you, Sarah.
3
Sarah has been a ghoulish symbol for playing fast and very loose with the truth. She will take her ‘Adams Family’ style and find another platform to lie from. Can’t wait for this entire carny show to be over. Sarah will not be missed!
10
Governor of Arkansas (Bill and Hillary's state until they made it rich)?
The most incompetent (and frequently untruthful) press secretary in memory, such that "briefings" essentially ceased to exist?
6
They could create a spin-off series for her. "Handmaid's Tall Tales".
7
She will be remembered as the voice of white nationalist fascism. The memory of her devotion to the demagogue is a monument to all of those who have sold their souls. Without even trying her "lügenpresse" obtained the tone and tenor of the original.
6
Ms. Sanders greatest, well, only outstanding skill as press secretary was her ability to lie with a serious demeanor. That is not easy folks, have you ever tried it? Lying with a strait face knowing that your audience knows it's a lie? There's got to be a market for that skill, TV host? Governor? TV Evangelist?
12
Fox News commentator
5
If this job was her "honor of a lifetime", what's next?
Raise your standards, Sarah- that's frightening!
4
Good. Begone.
5
I will boycott any company that employees her. So this better be the end of her career or Fox News can find a place for her.
6
Tell your mama, tell your pa,
Gonna send you back to Arkansas
28
She should have a scarlet "T" sewn on all her blouses and shirts...as should nearly all of his cabinet and senior staff...
15
A hypocrite and a liar, wrapped in a Bible.
56
Guess she got tired in the name of her God trump
4
Arkansas is the only state I have not either visited or lived in. If Sanders runs for governor and is defeated, I will schedule my next vacation there. Otherwise, 49 is enough.
25
This is what Sanders did in the WH:
“Ms. Sanders was left to go on Fox News regularly to defend Mr. Trump against his critics.”
This is what Sanders will do out of the WH:
“Ms. Sanders was left to go on Fox News regularly to defend Mr. Trump against his critics.”
789
@Paul McGlasson Well, she never was a press secretary. She was always a campaign manager/propagandist.
68
@Paul McGlasson One can only hope that Sanders will suffer the same ignominy as the other Sarah; Palin.
15
Aside from her boss, she was the most dishonest person to ever speak from the podium of the White House. She's someone with no integrity. None.
It will be interesting to see if she ever works again. Not even Wal-Mart or McDonalds hire anyone so blatantly dishonest.
13
Up next: One of the Palin girls. Or a Kardashian.
Seriously.
24
She always looked, to me, like the evil matron in a women's prison movie.
47
Is it true Shawn Hannity will be stepping into the role? He can speak to the press and report what he said too! Who needs vetting?
16
I hope not!!!!
3
Good riddance.
At least my tax dollars won’t contribute to her $180k salary anymore.
24
Just her retirement pension and lifetime healthcare.
9
She is replaced by another lying grifter rube, Hogan Gidley. Last week on the Trump Family Crime Syndicate trip to the U.K., within the span of 48 hours, Gidley posted three scenic shots of the Trump International Golf Links and Hotel in Doonbeg, Ireland. His last one was a video of him in slow motion hitting a golf shot from 14th hole of the course, with a picturesque view of the shoreline on the horizon. He insisted today that Traitor Trump said he would call the FBI if approached by foreigners for campaign assistance. He will get better at lying. Who are these people?
11
As long as the Oval Office is occupied by a degenerate it does not really matter whether the lies are spread by the present potato head or the next Pinocchio.
29
Sarah says she’s honored to have served her country. She did not serve her country. She promoted lies, falsehoods, distortions, and equivocations and created every possible obstacle that she could in order to prevent others from identifying the truth.
110
She served Trump and only Trump, she was doing this to support her God’s chosen one. UGH!
13
As usual most of the facts may be true in this report, but buried in the middle of the article is the part that the President said he would NOT tell the FBI about any information about an opponent if a foreign government ever tried to give him dirt and that is NOT what Trump said. Listen to the video carefully and you will hear that he WOULD tell the FBI. So you do NOT have your facts right. People. do a fact check yourself on what Pres. Trump actually did say! The New York Times is WRONG about this information!
3
Connie, go back to Fox News.
18
Connie, Was it you who gave Trump the same answer to use after the Helsinki interview?
10
Love her. Was always so fun to watch her destroy the DNC plants, um, I mean journalists.
5
@M - Then I guess your sense of fun is pretty limited. For God’s sake, you live in California. Are you seriously trying to tell us all that you could find nothing better to do in the Golden State than watch the incomparably rude Sarah Huckabee Sanders insult journalists on TV? Please, get a life.
21
@M Correction: She tried to muzzle and destroy journalism. What she's done, as you can tell from about 99% of these 1,300+ comments, is mobilize well-deserved vitriol against her rotten-from-the-inside self for degrading her country, defiling the definition and concept of Christianity, and thereby debasing all people of conscientious faith. All while wiping her shoes on the truth and accusing others of "fake news."
27
You would think that if your lie was true, she would have had daily press briefings like her predecessors, for the sport of it...but alas any desperate attempt to make Sanders appear informative and truthful is a joke.
12
Good riddance, most foul and profane beast — a sulphuric festering wound on this nation's soul.
18
She should be a pariah among all decent people.
27
I guess even she couldn't take it anymore. Or realized that sticking around would kill her other ambitions due to the stink of the taint.
7
@Syliva That taint is as mighty as the smell of skunk. Much of it emanates from Sarah herself. Just as cruel as Trump!
11
And Sarah, please take Kellyanne and the rest of the mob with you.
56
She is a strong confident woman and would garner my support if I lived in AR. Anyone that would try to diminish her would exemplify the double standard of the left in our country.
2
Let me give it a try. . Sarah is a boldface liar! Her proclamation that God chose Trump to be president is the biggest whopper in modern times. God told this moderate Christian that only the feebleminded worship false idols.
12
She diminished herself by being a mouthpiece for this odious administration.
8
Except she’s a liar. She’ll do fine being and working for Republicans. Nothing hypocritical about that.
9
How do you claim to be religious and yet on an almost daily basis say things you know to be untrue? She should become the wikipedia definition of hypocrisy.
23
She’s complicit in “Baby Ripping”.
How can anyone defend her?
8
I thank Sarah for being a strong woman up against the rude press, the nasty comments regarding everything from her looks to her wardrobe. She did her job just as Robert Gibbs did for Obama - to present the presidents message in a positive light. I think one can go back and see how many lies Gibbs told for Obama, drones anyone?
I wish Sarah the best with her family and any political future. Good luck and job well done!
1
She was a spokeswoman for a dishonorable and foul administration. Your administration of her defies belief.
12
@Grant Waara Not really he is from Ohio what did you expect. JimTrautman
3
@Let me knows Please
WHAT positive light would that be exactly, the making fun of a disabled reporter that he never apologized for? the demeaning of all women? the sexism? the racism? the name calling? the constant perseverating? the appointment of kooks just like him, the roll back of regulations put in place to help the very things he fights against every single day like clean water, clean air, clean and safe factories, unions, social benefits, lies about illegal aliens and crime? WHAT positive light has she portrayed him in and why would she leave if she leave if she was doing such a good job? Does he have another miscreant to put in her place? Can there be anyone worse? I applaud the fake news agencies who ran her off her platform of deceit. She could not take it anymore,,, being held accountable by the press who asked great questions until she stopped having news conferences. the whole of the White House are like little children. I Have to have a White House Press Corp but I don't have to have any news conferences at all then. Hooray for the White House Press. Job well done! Get that idiot President who loves an audience to free style his comments stream of consciousness style. That is the best when he repeats something he has jut learned and perseverates time and time again.
2
Farewell or good bye matters little. Trump is own press secretary anyway
6
It is not well understood that humans have a lifetime quota of lies they can tell, sort of like they have a limit on the number of times their heart will beat. Huckabee used up her quota of lies working as a spokesperson for Trump, so now she has to find another job.
9
"He's (trump) accomplished so much" This party is delusional! Trump has accomplished nothing, he's only divided this country, caused embarrassment to this country, broken this country.
Please, take him with you sarah... he has no more business running this country than I do!
9
She’s a liar’s liar. The best liar ever. Her pants are singed, and there’s no phone service. Slimy, creepy, treacherous, treasonous liar.
30
There was a Press Secretary at the White House? Since when?
18
Sarah Huckabee Sanders. She’s had a privileged life.
Resume:
Daughter of a Governor.
Press Secretary to a United States President.
Despicable opportunist and disgraceful human being.
So sad.
32
Haters are to going hate; so sad and yet another shining example of the discourse in our country.
2
Good riddance. Now she packs her bags and heads straight to Fox for a lucrative gig and a book contract. Buh-bye.
8
Well if SHS runs for governor IMHO the only reason she would be elected is because name recognition of her father--after all what has she done up to this time beside being a lying enabler of the Liar in Chief? Maybe she should spend some time contemplating her own lack of morals.
9
Fox News pays more. Same job. Better pay.
8
Ah, Sarah baby.
Whatever happened to “Thous shalt not bear false witness?”
13
What difference will it make? She will just be replaced by another liar. How about Sean Hannity? No, it would cost him too much money. His kind always place money above country.
But, do not be surprised if it is someone from Fox "News". A company that has redefined the word "News" and has many trained to replace Sarah
Sarah the next time you are in church look up the 9th Commandment. Hypocrite
12
Good riddance!
Now for the other blatant liars ...
8
The top 3 things that Sarah Huckabee Sanders will be remembered for: Lies, Lies, and Lies.
19
Why is she leaving or let go or fired by a tweet? Did Sarah Sanders get tired of lying daily and said enough lies for a lifetime? What did the good people of Arkansas do to deserve the return of Sanders? Will she be going to Moscow to collect some dirt? Anyways, good riddance!
9
Good riddance to bad rubbish.
It is no favor to the purportedly "great" state of Arkansas, that she states she will return there.
10
Who could replace her? Is Kellyanne Conway lying in wait?
8
@Don
No, she has been lying quite actively for months.
4
Apocryphal story: when Betty Davis received news of the passing of her arch competitor, Joan Crawford, Davis is supposed to have responded: “You should never say bad things about the dead, only good.....Joan Crawford is dead, good!”
Sara Sanders is leaving the WH Communications Office, “good.”
7
The big question is, Will Trump even replace her? Sanders only worked a day every few months, not exactly a barrage from the WH. Will Trump even bother to have a press person?
3
If this individual has any humanity left, she will disappear from public life, become a recluse and take a vow of silence.
Sarah is given to biblical passages; perhaps she needs become reacquainted with the following:
"But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison."
10
Farewell to thee, Ms. Huckabee.
When will thou book tour be?
You'll make cash from your time of snark and crooks
While you try to sell us all your book
You'll make the talk shows all around
For those who thrive on poisoned ground
Yes, farewell to thee, Ms. Huckabee
To hear you again, is too soon for me.
12
Tokyo Rose lied both less brazenly and less frequently than that White House horror show.
POTUS won't replace her. Based on the evidence, he doesn't need a press secretary.
6
Have to feel sorry for the example she set for her kids - a sad human being , luck trump
4
"Countless people are saying", Good Reddens, but this time it is the truth.
9
Funny it doesn’t seem to matter how many reptiles slouch out of the Trump swamp. There are dozens more hatching every day. Defeating Trump in the next election should be the goal of every American who possesses an ounce of humanity and who cares about the survival of our democracy.
38
Yes sir! Stand up and vote to uphold our democracy. Get rid of the filth and hatred.
“The special counsel, Robert S. Mueller III, wrote in his report that Ms. Sanders had admitted it was untrue when she claimed the White House had heard from “countless” agents who complained about James B. Comey, the F.B.I. director fired by Mr. Trump.”
Where will Donald Trump find another Pinocchio like her?
13
She seemed to have genuine emotion in resigning. Feels like science fiction to me, a different reality. I am truly boggled.
11
How will we tell the difference? It's been, what, 94 days since a press briefing? So what job is she leaving?
20
She said she was leaving at the end of 2018. Guess she stayed around for all those free trips to Mar-A-Largo, and those foreign places she read about in books. But the absolute cherry on whipped cream was her going with the trump oligarch wannabe family to see the Queen and get all dressed up. Alas, proximity to royals doesn’t make you one.
Sad to say goodbye to a woman but the more liars we can rid ourselves of is a great moment for our country. It's been non-stop with the lies - when you actually held a press briefing. Goodbye. You will not be missed. Sorry it took so long to get to this point.
12
Hopefully she’s been sent off to a recovery center for pathological liars and self-absorbent narcissists. What a sad and completely lost human being...
26
Thank goodness. Be gone, and never come back.
20
She can sell miracle water with the other alleged Christians at 3:00 am- she has been fleecing Americans since she joined the crime family .
Bye bye and good riddance .
25
Good riddance we won’t miss your lies.
22
She is damaged good. No corporations will hire her if they don't want to lose any customers or clienteles. She virtually can't live in a true blue states. The only option she has is to run for an office in the red voting block or work in church. What a pity. Oh forgot, she probably gona write a book but not any liberal person going to buy her book and her/Trump voters barely could read and analyze anything.
3
Neuter and spay the entire Conway, Sanders and Trump families.
Hey, it's a start.
14
Sanders is a highly skilled liar, even better at it than Trump.
She was so into it that she admitted reciting Bible verses to pump herself up before lying to the world at her historic press briefings.
She is going to fit in perfectly at Fox News.
18
All you need to know is “Huckabee”.
She was pre-destined - and she proved it.
Good riddance
7
To spend time with her children. Those poor, poor kids.
16
This news made my day. She was the worst.
16
Amazing! I didn’t think there was any room left in trump’s diaper genie.
That’s where all his “best people” end up.
10
As they say: “Good riddance to bad rubbish”.
7
Interesting that Trump kissed Sarah on the side of her head and nobody blinks....guess it is presidential privilege not extended to Democrats.
5
Another liar leaving to lie more freely elsewhere. "I would refer you to the door...."
No loss. None at all. I hope I never have to hear her mangled "logic" ever again.
9
Good riddance. When we needed this woman to clarify something, she wasn't there. When anyone in their right mind had heard enough from the Weit House and confronted her she was happy to re-blab the same rhetoric. Go back to Arkansas, girl, but teach your babies to read everything, so they don't just re-mumble what they've been told is "true."
5
Let’s say farewell to one of the most disgusting liars ever to grace Washington. Sadly, we’ve not heard the last of her. Governor? Cough cough. Sad!
10
An inept, dishonest, ridiculous embarrassment to the Presidency and the Huckabee family. Good riddance.
10
This should raise the average IQ of both DC and Arkansas.
9
Thank god. Unparalleled, treasonous propaganda to dismantle democracy. May this disgraceful cult be thrown out of office as soon as possible.
10
Good riddance to bad rubbish. Though how much of the dirt pile is reduced is questionable.
12
Every time someone in this administration leaves or is fired, their replacement is always even worse. How that will be possible in Sanders' case, I'm afraid to find out.
24
So she is leaving. Good, in fact great.
But since she never has a press briefing, will we even miss her?
7
I need to revisit Dante and try to figure out in which level Sanders is going to wind up.
12
She told Mueller she spewed information that had no basis in fact. Then claimed that statement to Mueller was a partial lie. Upon being caught in a lie by journalists, she explained she provided the best information available at the time.
4
Good bye and good riddance to bad news. As for her replacement, hard to imagine going much lower that Huckabee Sanders.
8
Well OK then, from reading all these comments it is quite clear Sarah Huckabee Sanders is not well liked, at all. Dunno she seemed nice enough to me and would have hated her job. Good luck Sarah. Will quickly depart this site and glad no capabilities of down votes. Bye .....
2
“Incredible,” an apt adjective to characterize Sarah Huckabee's job performance.
She wants to spend more time lying to her family.
6
We already have a governor, thanks.
16
Will anyone even notice? She hasn't held a press conference in over three months.
19
One has to admire a sycophant that has Ms. Sanders skill at prevaricating with such gusto and speed. Never mind that it is all a lie, if you tell it enough times, it becomes the truth.
15
Experienced liar, lifelong Republican and self-described “Christian”, Huckabee Sanders attended Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. There, she was elected student body president and was active in Republican organizations. In 2004, she graduated from the university with a Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in political science and minoring in mass communications.
Priebus, Bannon, Spicer and Conway all pull in annual salaries of $179,700. Donald Trump's White House is stocked with 25 staffers who hold the title of "assistant to the president," according to a disclosure released Friday, which also revealed that nearly two dozen aides all earn an annual salary of roughly $180,000. Jun 30, 2017
Previous White House Press Secretaries have held press briefings and put out press releases; however, Huckabee Sanders held few press briefings and put out NO press releases because Trump has Twitter. So she got paid for doing very little.
21
If she becomes governor of Arkansas, expect her to show up to work every 90 days.
23
Ari Fleischer, are you busy?
1
Good Riddance!!!
"You burned facts and used the ash for your smokey eye" - "It was all lies"
-paraphrased from the wonderful Michelle Wolf.
23
God save Arkansas.
15
Don't put it past Arkansas, a red state full of Fox News zombies to elect this unethical, immoral, bald faced liar governor.
24
@Marc Castle
Bill Clinton is from Arkansas. Okay, he's a rank amateur compared to Hunkabeef Slanders, but is there something in the water there that breeds liars?
1
Sarah Sanders is no CJ Craig
11
Where can she possibly go with her lying/defending lying liars skill set? Too bad Enron is out of business. I'm sure Fox would love her sour disposition.
19
Into Alabama politics, of course!
Conman Trumps thinks she would make a "great" governor-
Pathetic to say the least.
Good riddance.
8
@Kevin O'Keefe She could go on a good book tour, then cruise through the talk shows. There's much appetite for her type these days.
Was it worth it, Sarah? How much could you possibly have been paid to compensate for the reputation that will dog you for the rest of your life, that of a shameless toady and egregious serial liar only slightly less pathological and ridiculous than your boss? No, seriously, how can you stand to be so ridiculous?
You might want to spend more time with your children, but will they want to spend more time with you? If you were my mother and I somehow had an ounce of integrity, I'd change my name and emigrate.
36
Toot toot Tootsie, BYE BYE.
5
Hey Sarah, like the song says: na na na na, na na na na, hey hey-ey, GOOD BYE!!
6
The pastor's daughter who truly sold her soul to the Devil.
If her Christian faith is genuine, I don't know how Ms. Huckabee Sanders can look at herself in the mirror, let alone her children in the eye, after having borne such a staggering amount of "false witness."
Yet she seems blithely without the slightest twinge of guilt...
30
She can always find work and money as an Evangelical spokesperson for hypocrisy.
17
This successful match of Trump and Sanders was the meeting of the two greatest liars we have to offer for the American public.
12
Trump's challenge...how to find someone worse that Sarah Huckabee Sanders? No easy job...1) filled with hate, 2) believes whatever the boss says, 3) liar, 4) makes up stories to fit the "big" story of whatever Trump just said, 5) most important? Loyalty... the guiding principle in a dictatorship.
11
@Anne Albaugh Oh trust me, he'll find someone. There's plenty of sycophants to go round.
1
I hope she is leaving because the Trump ship is lurching and at risk of sinking, like a rat jumping off to find new ship to infest.
History will eventually record her as of of the most deceitful Press Secretary's in history. Trump will find another opportunistic and untruthful person to take the job, whose goal (like so many in this administration before her) is to use it as a launching pad to Fox news, or whatever. Unfortunately, as more leave this administration, each successor is even worse.
4
Get out. !
And *never* come back. !!
11
She has a bright future as a spokesperson for Monsanto, head of the NRA, or a Republican congresswoman from Arkansas. Actually anywhere ethics and the truth don’t matter.
25
Used car sales...only if they would have her.
1
There is justice after all. But Sarah was just a faithful parroting liar of the Liar in-chief; too bad she has to leave without the one commanding her conduct.
3
Being English as my second language, she taught me the meaning of "manipulation" anew.
6
Her ability in real-time in front of a camera to twist words was impressive. It is a rare skill to do it that well. She rarely flubbed. I deplore her tactics but her prowess at standing there stony-faced and lie over and over was epic. Her brain should be studied for science.
10
She wasn’t fulfilling her role as Press Secretary anyway. She and her BFF Trump hates the press for trying to report the truth about them.
2
No one elected William Barr, or Mick Mulvaney or Steve Mnuchin either. But at least they do the jobs they get paid for. How nice that Sarah could take sushi making classes while supposedly on an official trip at taxpayers expense. Did we also get to pay for husband Bryan’s trip to England?
7
I'm certain it was friends of hers that finally had a Professional Intervention to get Sanders out of Trump's control.
1
Her job is to defend and explain". Where does it say lie?
Well, good old Sarah stuck around long enough to get the vacation of a lifetime. Now she can tell everyone back home in Arkansas that she had she went to Buckingham Palace and had dinner with the Queen. It was an opportunity she just could not pass up. That will forever be the high point of her miserable lying life. Now can happily (for us) she can go home to Arkansas where she probably be considered a worldly and sophisticated woman, standing in a cornfield regaling the cattle with her tales of power, intrigue and glamour.
18
@cl
"Now she can tell everyone back home in Arkansas that she had she went to Buckingham Palace..."
I see what you did there!! ;o)
1
Except for Phyllis Schlafly, I can’t think of another women who did more harm to the woman’s movement then Sarah Huckabee Sanders.
The Jim Crow 1950’s will be thrilled to have her back!
27
Good riddance you lying liar. No press conference for 94 days. Really? No lies to spread? Or did the worst president ever have nothing to need lied to the press corps. You will go down in history as the worst ever press secretary!
24
Good riddance seems like the only fitting tribute to her. No press briefing in 94 days? Do these people understand that they work for us? Outrageous.
23
Bottom line, she lied to the American people.
28
Good riddance. But she won't go away. These GOP types are a cancer on our democracy. They are acting with impunity, which should tell us all what's really going on. It's bad.
11
One of the greatest examples of reverse affirmative action at its best.
5
No doubt "countless" disgruntled FBI agents will miss her...
Well... not "countless" but many many many...
OK really nobody will miss her.
18
Exiting as a documented liar. Purveyor of fake news. What a fitting legacy.
12
Who's the next liar who will lie for the liar-in-chief?
Sarah's finest moment? When she asked the press to say what they were thankful for. I'll tell ya, Sarah. I'm so thankful to hear this news.
11
I liked Ms. Sanders. She tolerated a lot of ugliness from the press and handled it well. She will be missed.
3
Sarah Huckabee is a deplorable role model for young girls to emulate! A chip off the old block for certain- won’t be missed.. best news in months!
13
@Fatso Yes, asking a press secretary to actually answer the question she was asked is such ugliness. Any name calling to her face? No? How about the countless names and false accusation she leveled at the integrity and intelligence of the men and women right in front of her?
11
Sanders probably realized that the state visit to the UK was as good as it was ever going to get for her in this administration. I mean, there she was at Buckingham Palace walking into dinner on the arm of Prince Michael of Kent -- way above her pay grade. How was it ever going to get better? Always leave while the party's still going, or at least before the congressional investigations pick up steam and do real damage.
If Sanders goes back to Arkansas now, she gets time with her family, loses the daily ridicule, and no one there will turn her away from a restaurant or heckle her. Who can blame her?
2
Her family lives in Florida.
1
@Allison Shutt
I meant Sanders's immediate family, specifically her husband and her three young children. I assume they're all moving away from Washington together.
@Allison Shutt Perfect!
1
This is no great loss to America. She didn't add anything to this presidency and she definitely contributed to the offensive nature of this entire administration.
13
Unfortunately it seems to be the pattern that every time someone leaves the Trump White House, they're replaced by someone even worse. I dread finding out who could possibly be worse than the metaphorical press equivalent of "Aunt Lydia."
8
@NJ Ditto.
Chris Ruddy believes “her job was to defend and explain, and she did that almost flawlessly.” Sanders should go work for Ruddy. She mastered the art of snark and psychobabble (along with Conway) so for that she is qualified to work in trump world. But for those of us that prefer a functional and ethical executive branch, good riddances to bad rubbish.
5
I hope she doesn't just focus on spending time with her family, but also makes some efforts towards proper diet and exercise, learning to speak English properly, and generally not being such a detestable Southern caricature.
7
Saturday Night Lived survived the loss of Sean Spicer. Surely they will be able to go on without Sarah Sanders.
And the ugly rumor that Colonel Sanders, Bernie Sanders and Sarah Sanders are all kinfolk should not continue to be spread.
(It's unfair to the Colonel.)
7
One can only step down from a higher position, not from being a bottom feeder.
11
Don't be surprised to see Arkansas reward their native daughter and high-profile evangelical for her unflinching loyalty to their modern day biblical King Cyrus, Donald Trump.
8
I doubt it. There are a lot of Republicans in line ahead of her. Arkansas politics is about Arkansas connections; she has to make them.
2
“Sarah was successful because she knew her North Star was the president,” said Chris Ruddy, a longtime friend of Mr. Trump’s.
Mr. Christopher Ruddy is the CEO of the far right propaganda , syndicate "Newsmax".
Back in the 1990's, Mr. Ruddy, reporting for the conservative Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, was one of the chief conspiracy theorists casting doubts on earlier investigations into Vince Foster's apparent suicide. He suggested the Clintons had Foster murdered, staging the death as a suicide.
Chris Ruddy recently tried to back up Trump's prevarication that Robert Mueller wanted to be the FBI Director again. Ruddy again had no evidence to back up this lie.
Chris Ruddy is cut from the same fine silk his buddy Trump and Sanders, Trump's propaganda minister, wear.
Not a shred of truth to be found in the entire threesome.
14
Good. She can work on her
self-esteem now.... Putting her integrity at risk every time she sympathized and defended a liar, a misogynist, a bully, an inmoral, an ignorant and the most dishonest "politician" ever..... and not putting honest value on her time could destroy anybody's self-esteem.
Hopefully she can fulfill her true potencial in life now... unless she goes to Faux News....
2
Hopefully she lands in Faux News.... I don't watch those "commentators" anyway.... sorry for the real only two "journalist" that work there....
1
I guess her ulcer is about to perforate...
Too many comments to read!
Can I give all of them a recommend?
8
The master puppeteer has many other puppets hanging on strings. Her leaving won’t matter one twit. Speaking of twits....
3
She shutted down the press briefing culture. She bullied around everybody. She was a puppy to Kellyanne. And her job basically is to go to FOX News and party with all those immoral unAmerican fake news group, particularly two worst women reporters and two radical male traitors. You know who they are. Now Kellyanne should be investigated and/or fired and then investigated. Her husband probably will be the best judge to judge her case.
7
Goodbye, Sarah. We won’t miss your condescension, your hypocrisy, and your blatant support for a sociopathic liar rather than your country’s best interests. Good riddance to bad rubbish.
And please don’t run for governor of Arkansas. Those people have enough problems. They don’t need you, too.
30
Sarah - we hardly knew ya! So many lies, so little time. A relatively brief tenure, although lengthy compared to almost all of the other Trumpets. After all of the lies, deceptions, bobbing and weaving for the liar-in-chief, and cheating American taxpayers by being paid for a job you didn’t do, I hope you can reinvent yourself and be more than a puppet whose mouth moves when the master speaks.
7
And this liar calls herself a Christian? I wish Sarah nothing but the worst.
20
She wants to spend time with her children? Poor children.
14
Bye-bye. What alarms me more is that she has reproduced.
10
@Julia
Ouch.
1
Peter Baker and Katie Rogers are professionals, thus the heavy dose of diplomacy. I however am, (I suppose) an un-professional?"
Accordingly let me say, I hate to see the old dimwit leave.
Who would hire such a liar?
2
@Jay Davies -- Par for the course in this admin.
1
The White House should be surrounded so that she can't leave until the impeachment debate is resolve with a yes or a no. [She can always order out to avoid those naughty activists staking out restaurants to berate her for her lying and scheming and devious support of her devious, lying, scheming, misogynistic birther of a President.] So, which news organization is going to get the exclusive interview?
2
Probably, needs the money...she like Paul Ryan and John Boehner, will find a home in some corporate right wing something or other...
4
Oh no, another news flash from Trump Land. Sarah Huckabee Sanders is now leaving a job at the WH, which she has not been doing recently anyway! What next?!?
2
She should live the rest of her life in disgrace for taking our hard earned money and lying to us every single day.
16
Good riddance!
I always wondered how a woman who claims to be religious works for a man who lies ALL the time. What does she teach her children?
15
meh, she's a 2 at best, Trump will forget about her in ... say ... 30 min.
5
Good to see this particular rat leaving the ship.
10
History will remember Huckabee Sanders as a stain on our democracy.
16
@MM More likely, she will be completely forgotten.
5
So, basically she's coming out of retirement from giving press conferences and going back to work in another field then.
3
@Miguel sanchez Hopefully the "corn field".
If I were a betting man I’d bet she’s going to go work for the campaign in some capacity. You ain’t seen the last of her yet...
6
Do we have to wait until the end of the month?
6
Did she get a better position at Fox Entertainment?
10
One liar down, many more to go!
19
George Costanza: Jerry, just remember, it’s not a lie if you believe it.
22
Sarah Sanders exactly! It wasn't just that she had no shame. She genuinely seemed to believe the garbage she spewed.
5
Ms. Sanders was not merely ineffective in her office, unless effectiveness is to be defined as hostility and rudeness. She was and is an embarrassment to literacy itself.
20
"Mr. Trump urged her to run for governor of Arkansas, an ambition she has quietly nurtured for some time."
Hmmm - possibly running for governor and her only "qualification" is being a former White House press secretary?Apparently the Arkansas bar is even lower than I imagined.
21
@Marge Keller.. yes but higher than the bar to be a US president.
6
@joe
Oh gosh, you nailed it there! Well done.
3
She stayed long enough to qualify for a cushy federal pension.
10
@Kate I just momentarily misread your post as "cushy federal prison". We could only hope.
2
Huckabee Sanders should be arrested for lying to the American people. A true Huckster, a charlatan, a disgrace to the position of press secretary.
21
Good bye and good riddance Sarah! You were a true disgrace to your office and to your country.
21
Well, she did little to advance any honesty and credibility within the house of horrors.
I am not sure what was more comical-her incessant lies or Spicer’s hiding in the shrubs.
Adios and your departure will save the taxpayers the need to pay your salary given the pitiful amount of real work accomplished.
9
This White House press secretary pleased her client and destroyed herself. Without exception, all but one that have served this president have been harmed in departure. Defsec James Mattis resigned by letter with a different result. His untidy illiterate boss failed to read the message in his resignation letter. It was read to him, and the prez set about to destroy General Mattis as if he was the enemy. Meanwhile, this president makes nice with Mr. Kim, Mr. Putin, MBS, and other world scoundrels, all explained by Press Sec. Sanders, staring at the press like they are idiots. The president’s base base loves every minute. What has happened to us? The best general walks and the draft dodging Commander in Chief remains. Impeachment is too kind.
16
Leaving? Not soon enough...
Good riddance.
21
Such mean gender specific mean comments here.
Home Depot is short on pitch forks and rope!
2
May the Devil have mercy on your soul, Sanders. Not that you deserve any.
16
@Steve J
The Devil is not merciful
None the less, Sanders will entertain The Devil,
since they speak the same language.
4
Good riddance. Truth, democracy, and decency are slightly better off today than they were yesterday.
11
Trump has had two press secretaries so far. For the administratio's sake they are going to miss the wonderful, perfect, press secretary.
The first one, Sean Spicer, was obviously uncomfortable when he had to lie for Hump as he did in his first "press briefing" on the size of the crowd in Hump's Russian installation. After that you can always tell that he was squirming whenever he had to lie which is often.
Ms. Sarah Huckabee Sanders, on the other hand, not only never squirm whenever she lies which seems to be always, instead, she seems perfectly comfortable in the lying role and in fact displayed an expressionless fact with an indignant tone of voice implying an how dare you question my lies attitude.
I just wonder if that is from religious or political training.
16
Maybe she can be the spokesperson for Chick-fil-A. She has experience working with a large, crowing rooster.
15
It has been 94 days since Sarah Huckabee Sanders actually did her supposed job of presiding over a White House briefing. Was she on maternity leave for this period?
With all the poison Sanders has in her, from associating with Trump, it is suggested she go to a detox center for a month or two, before getting in proximity of her children for an extended period. Maybe even spend some time in a nunnery, praying for forgiveness too.
7
She was the Liar-in-Chief's prime watch-dog, hired to bark at journalists and keep them at bay.
And she did.
What it says about her, is an entirely another story- a shameful one actually.
Every time I see her (or her boss), I am reminded of this quote:
"You know I hate, detest, and can't bear a lie, not because I am straighter than the rest of us, but simply because it appalls me. There is a taint of death, a flavour of mortality in lies - which is exactly what I hate and detest in the world - what I want to forget."
Joseph Conrad
10
I can only hope that life post-WH punishes her for her extensive participation in crimes against all Americans.
19
She didn’t announce it herself. Therefore, it might well be true.
13
I was really hoping Sanders would be in the briefing room to handle questions during Infrastructure Week. (That’s still scheduled again, isn’t it?)
And I was hoping she would be there to tell us about Trump’s secret agreement with Mexico, where Trump agreed to end tariffs on imports from Mexico only because Mexico agreed to pay for the Wall . . .
Maybe she can come back for those two announcements . . .
3
Goodbye to another Trump sloganeer. Glad that we no longer pay her salary.
19
The Donald expects loyalty above all else in his employees. Saunders him that. The press and the public expect information, honesty, and civility. Saunders gave us none of the above.
I’m not expecting that her replacement will be a big improvement, but at least we will be spared her particular brand of ugliness.
So long, Sarah, it’s been bad to know ya.
7
Sarah H as governor of Arkansas....
Rarely had as good a laugh as that one!
Following right in Bill Clinton's foot steps.
That's what comedies are made from.
3
People seem to forget she got her ethics from her father which speaks volumes. She's a Patriotic flag waver of the most dangerous kind she sold us all out, beware of wolfs in sheep's clothing we all should wake up.
11
Good riddance. The lying hack should never work another day in her life. Can’t wait to see what lackey they’ll dig out from under a rock to lie to the American people.
18
Don't let the door.......
16
A disgrace to journalism. A disgrace to truth. A disgrace to our country.
Go hide yourself on Fox News.
20
A person who had no inhibitions to lie about Trump, using her and her father’s neo-christian persona, and continuing in the Ralph Reed tradition of disingenuousness taken to the extreme, religious principles notwithstanding.
A completely compromised individual, and for what? A complete fraud.
You should be ashamed.
25
@PTR People like her feel no shame. That's the problem. She's not capable of such things.
She lies like a rug. She has reminded me many times of the Iraqi general who kept telling Iraqis that everything was fine while Saddam was hiding in some hole in the ground.
What a disgusting person.
16
....but, lying, fabrication, fake news, and deceit will continue.....
10
I suppose she will be taking the time to teach her children that lying is fine as long as you do it for djt. Missoura hope you are smarter than that. God, what an awful woman.
9
Now she can begin looking for her misplaced integrity. Of course that assumes that she actually had any to begin with.
Will her book deal be fiction or non? I suggest a book jacket photo of an empty podium.
7
I'll believe she's leaving when I hear her deny it herself.
7
@APS Touche!
3
Another ruse is about to unfold - actually a chain of ruses based on three-card Monte. Ms. Sanders will play everyone by pretending she is leaving the President for good ol' Arkansas, while expanding her web of unrestricted complicity, the President will become even more deceiving to compensate for the loss of his Camporegimes, and the newby will be so easily manipulated by the Boss, that what you didn't think could get worse, will.
1
The American Public, whether right or wrong, has a problem with folks who are outright liars. When those lies occur every single day, it becomes phenomenally offensive to the intelligence of the American Public. It is something that will not soon be forgotten.
5
Sanders is a poster child for the importance of teaching history in a substantive manner. Clearly she missed the following:
"I am... for freedom of the press, and against all violations of the Constitution to silence by force and not by reason the complaints or criticisms, just or unjust, of our citizens against the conduct of their agents." --Thomas Jefferson to Elbridge Gerry, 1799. ME 10:78
AND
“The press was to serve the governed, not the governors.”
—U.S. Supreme Court Justice Hugo Black in New York Times Co. v. United States (1971)
11
No one is as evil as trump, but she is certainly among the group of the worst enemies of our republic. May she disappear from view.
10
They're all "playing the white house" not working at the White House. I wish they all leave.
5
A shameful press secretary. Her only skill was a loud voice. Her only accomplishment was to be complicit in repressing freedom of the press.
A repeater of lies, distortions, deflections, and dumbing down of the "press" coming out of the White House, such as it is. She reminds me of the word "mouthpiece" defined as someone whose function is to simply talk the party line and in this case obfuscate the facts, try to gaslight our national reality. She should be ashamed of herself.
9
Please do not ever close the comment section for this article.
Everyone deserves a chance to say something about "former press secretary" SHS!
18
As the Trump World Turns. Goodbye Ms. Sanders, I'm sure you'll come back as another incarnation, as dubious, and duplicitous as before. Unless of course you arise from an awakening, thanking the almighty for finding your way, as you peddle your next book and and further sell your soul. But, if you have a conscience, you will be continually haunted for furthering the agenda of this corrupted and malignant administration. You are young, at some point you might realize your father and your damaged president/boss, have seriously done you wrong. And the magnitude of what you have and have not done.
9
May she never work again. I don’t know how she lives with herself. Of course, her replacement will surely be even worse.
20
I doubt this is last from her. Do you think she would like her own Roy Cohn too?
1
@Mark - I doubt we’ve seen the last of her. She’s going to keep popping out from under rocks, smarmy with condescension, from here to eternity.
3
I suspect that from now on press briefings will look more like fashion shoots with all the fans around that will be necessary to keep Trump’s hair blowing just the right way for the cameras as he does them himself.
2
Huckabee Sanders, daughter of a Protestant Minister lies with ease and apparently has no regard for her religious upbringing or the commandments. Shame on her for her brash defense and repeating of her boss's lies and corruption with a straight face. Trump has used her and now it's time for her to go. Maybe she will go to work for Fox?
8
I wish I had something kind to say.
20
She will not be missed.
5
Sanders will go to work for Fox News and get rich.
Good riddance!
I'm not sure she was or is anything.
Did she even study journalism?
Does she know what a fact actually is?
I hope she doesn't expect to ever be taken seriously.
7
Perfect match.
1
Ms. Sanders finally got fired , now who would take that job , trump himself ?
3
@B.Sharp He's got Twitter, who needs a press secretary?
1
@Lillies
Indeed , Sarah stopped doing daily biffing and now trump will fill in to that job which he is already doing.
1
When you look back at her tenure, Sanders is not only the best liar in trump's orbit, but perhaps better at deceit than the master himself. Maybe due to her evangelical nature, she presented her lies with such conviction and sanctimony it's no wonder trump admired her so. Lying doesn't come so easily to everyone so it's not a given her successor will be worse.
8
Wadya bet Trump drags The Mooch up from the gutter and reinstalls him in the former Press Room, now a de facto lunchroom for nonplussed members of the press corps. “It’s a hot White House folks; people are knocking down the doors to get in here.” Sanders managed to get paid even though more than 90 days transpired since the last press briefing. Getting something for nothing; the Trump mantra taken to the max. Sanders will be missed about as much as root canal agony. Lucifer will be proud of her.
10
So how can we tell when SHS goes away? - And why would anyone care that the White House will be short one liar??
4
On the one hand, good riddance! On the other hand what kind of beast will the successor be?
7
Good ridden....Sarah. You are a prototype of the pathological liar con man. Both of you are corrupt and morally bankrupt and for the same, you adore each other. The Country will be better off without another pathological liar. Of course, you will receive a financial award from the world’s worst fake news channel Fox. You will receive a million plus package and serve as a “pundit” to spread xenophobia, conspiracy and hatred among us. It is a reward for your relentless lies to protect the most corrupt and incompetent person in the entire world. Enjoy your promotion- you are going from one dark world to another.
8
A totally revolting and abhorrent liar; it will be a pleasure never to see her face again.
When can I say that about the very stable genius?
9
Good riddance! Not that lies from the White House will go down a lot. It's like taking a drop out of an ocean.
3
Don’t let that heavy wooden door hit you on the way out.
6
Deliverance, even in small doses, is appreciated. Now she can help Daddy Hucksterbee sell bibles.
15
In retrospect, she will be seen as a loser professionally, intellecutlly and socially.
10
I’d like to say good riddance to this immoral, dishonest and opportunistic trashy person, but the chances are that her successor will be even more despicable.
11
Will Melissa McCarthy be replacing her?
21
No one does a smokey eye like Sarah. Sniff.
6
Thank you, next!!!!!!
Ms Sanders, you won’t be missed.
7
"...kissing her affectionately on the side of the head."
Hmmm, where are the Biden-affection critics?
11
She needs to get subpoenaed.
21
Sarah Sanders is a great counter example to the notion that the world would be a better place with more women in charge. It is easy to argue that she is every bit as "deplorable" as his tweetership.
13
Countless FBI agents have called to wish her well.
15
Good one.
4
The rats are leaving the sinking ship?
Let's hope.
12
@Giskander Nahhh. Just reorganizing. This ship will be sailing for a good bit longer.
I always considered her something of a Bizarro Muppet. Whereas Muppets are honest and trustworthy, she has always been the opposite. Whereas Muppets are cute, .... Whereas I've always welcomed seeing and hearing a Muppet, not so much Sarah. Regardless, goodbye Sarah I guess you got a job with Fox, where lying is accepted practice. No doubt you will write a book. Sorry, I won't buy it and wouldn't read it if someone gave me a copy and I was on a deserted island.
9
Take Kellyanne with you. Two of the most corrupt and offensive people to hold their respective positions in US history, perfectly comfortable lying on a daily basis to the American people. Degrading of the office yet perfectly in keeping with the stench that is the Trump Cabinet overall.
42
Since god won’t help the people of Arkansas I can only hope the voters never elect her to anything.
10
Sanders may leave the White House, but this White House will never leave her. Its corruption and stink will always be a fundamental part of who she is.
18
A despicable woman who had relished a despicable job. How can someone like this live in society whereby knowing the truth and yet was able to constantly lie and be belligerent in her lies. I hope nothing goes well for her after leaving the white house. But, Fox, will provide will provide for her.
11
Good riddance, she will forever be remembered as one of the worst press secretary, I am sure she will not care basking in the millions of dollars in book signing and movie deals, still at its core she is a disgrace, fundamentally she sold the soul of what America stands for. What a pity.
9
She was and is a disgrace. If she had an ounce of self-awareness, she’d be ashamed and embarrassed by her legacy, but I’m quite sure she does not, and is not.
Ugh! Shudder to think of what it feels like in that soul.
15
She was well suited to her master - untroubled by ethics or truth - I'm not sure she should run for governor of Arkansas - she may be better suited to a GOP seat in the Senate. She would have a very short learning curve in that role, where moral turpitude is a virtue and the "spin" is "everything".
10
In finding a replacement,Trump can save money by wiring an eye-shadowed sack of potatoes for sound and just running a loop of SHS's Greatest Lies. Who would know the difference?
12
Socrates, In the Republic, The Cave in chapter seven was offered - by you - to teach us the difference between images of something in the shadows and in the sun. We were able to compare the shadow of something with the thing itself. In press conferences, we are give the shadow of the shadows, not smoke and mirrors, not sunlight. With our president, we're glued to his darkened Wall, not the one Mexico is not going to pay for, the Wall at the back of his Cave. His Cave. Can we find a way to the sunlight at the opening of His cave? Let's do chapter 7 again... and deal with that Trump Wall at the back of the Trump Cave. The Republic was a utopian glimpse of what's to come... but we are already there.
1
I think God calls all of us to fill different roles at different times and I think that he wanted Donald Trump to become president, and that's why he's there." -- Sarah Sanders, January 31, 2019.
Sarah Sanders should perhaps have her head examined thoroughly after she leaves her White House position. If anything, it is the Devil that gave us Donald Trump and Company – and she is just one of his minions.
23
Oh, she DID hold regular press conferences but with Fox News and their audience only. It was an intentional arrangement made on the grounds of the White House.
7
Finally, she has been the worst. Ill informed and constantly spewing pronouncements with no basis in fact. About time. Do we really have to wait until the end of the month?
9
Undoubtedly the next press secretary will be much, much worse, and last a much shorter time. That's how hiring in the Trump White House works.
9
Kinda thinking heaven is off the table...
18
Good, one liar down, but more to go or, 10 Little Indians and then there were..? Let's hear it, "Lock him up, lock him up.
3
Who hires a bold-faced Liar?
8
Fox
6
@Alan Wahs
Aka Faux “News”
1
Goos riddance of a truly hypocritical, shamelessly lying Trump groupie ! She won't be missed.
13
Good riddance. Her lies... her lack of accessibility to the press. Begone!
13
Good riddance to bad rubbish.
Now if only her boss would emulate her exit...
21
Maybe you can only tell so many lies and then your teeth fall out, or at least you get really bad gum disease. Either one would be a fine reward for this willing facilitator of a traitorous president.
14
Nurse Ratched leaving the asylum?
11
So stooped so low
She lied for a liar
She stole for a thief
Next stop tv preacher!
17
You won’t be missed. Good riddance!
12
Yes. Sarah Sanders did an incredible job for Trump. She bent the knee, and she kissed the ring.
15
What better admission that her job was non-essential than to proffer a two week notice? This may be her greatest attempt at presenting truth to Trump and the American public.
3
Has anybody asked her,
"Ms. Sanders, how many of the 10,000+ allegedly false and misleading statements documented by the Washington Post are actually true?"
If not, would somebody please ask her before she leaves?
7
@RickP Randy Rainbow could ask!
Goodbye and good riddance to Trump's minister of propaganda. She took perpetuating Trump's lies to a whole new level and exposed the hypocrisy of her self-proclaimed 'Christian values.' She should be banned from any type of public service for the rest of her life. Heck, she should just be banned... period. I wouldn't be surprised if she starts showing up as a regular commentator on Fox (fake) news. But alas, who knows what evil Trump will coax out of the woodwork to fill the position?
16
I admired her "talent" for fielding questions from a room full of press while saying nothing at all. Girl got skills.
5
Maybe she'll get a seat on "The View" between Whoopi and Joy.
1
like all the previous people who left or were forced to leave, i.e. got fired, and didn't go to jail (yet) she too will wash up in the same place as other scourges of human kind such as hannity, limbaugh, ingraham etc.
just the pay is better (probably)
although I have hope it won't come to a repeat of 2004 I am less than certain about it, and if that happens the fascists, liars, and demagogues have won
but every country deserves their leaders
1
She'll write a book . . . or some ghost writer will.
2
@MLPratt You betch'ya! Wink Wink.
We will miss her a lot. The lady from peasant country.
1
i hope the american taxpayers will be getting a refund.
11
Finally!
we will not be listening to flat lies, propagated by Ms Sanders.
Perhaps now she will have some time for quiet introspection rather than planning the next bunch of false statements.
The press gave her too much time, particularly knowing that she is a habitual propagator of untrue and false messages for the president.
9
Sarah should avoid reading these comments. No praise here. Trump may very well be the only person on the country who will say anything positive about her and typical of him, he is again lying.
Good riddance
21
Will anyone miss her? Not me.
9
Another amoral evangelical set free to spread the word of her savior trump.
21
How can she be viewed as stepping down when she has been cavorting in the rings of Dante’s Inferno for her entire tenure?
9
Good riddance to this national disgrace.
25
To stand there and lie right to the public day in day out and defend Mr.Trumps “alternate facts” must have been exhausting.. oh wait she took rest for the last three months on tax payers dime.
8
Ideally, no one would hire her based on her pathetic performance as White House press secretary, and she would wind up penniless and destitute. But more realistically, she'll probably wind up spewing lies for Fox News or some conservative public policy think tank.
2
Quitting right after the boondoggle in Great Britain. Well played, Ms Sanders, well played.
15
Watch the not very interesting transformation of a low-paid, high profile liar into a high-paid, low profile liar.
28
Trump doesn't need a press secretary because he doesn't "need" the press...any more than he needs a Justice Department or a knowledgeble group of advisers anout national security, cyber security, inrastructure, climate security, health care, education, housing, etc, etc.
He is fully capable of running everything by himself - his way.
How's that workin' out for you America?
12
Terrible.
5
Lousy, thanks. Didn’t like the reality tv fraud, slum landlord and seller of cheap trinkets before he became a phony conservative. Became a reality tv president, still grifting, still a fraud. Still despise him.
13
Good riddance! I can’t think of a more loathsome person than Ms. Sanders, and let’s face it, the competition is stiff in this White House. Of course we all know that Trump will just get another sycophantic liar or just leave the position unfilled. In either case, The People are likely to be better served than they have been by Ms. Sanders.
26
Good riddance! If I never see that twisted up face or hear that garbled voice again it will be too soon.
When does her boss follow her out the door?
30
So she’s going to be an insult comic right?
7
"She is a very special person with extraordinary talents, who has done an incredible job!"
Translation:
"She's almost as filthy a liar as me, but I'm still the best of all the compulsive liars. I'm very good and, frankly, very great at being a filthy liar. But she's pretty good, too. MAGA!"
36
It’s very clear why she left. She wants to go back to Lexington,Virginia to the Red Hen and try the food. Remember she was thrown out last time...
6
Oh Boo-Hoo! Glad to see the backside of her. She made Sean Spicer look good. Did we really even notice there weren't any daily briefings with the constant flow of Tweets from the liar in chief? Of course Sarah Huckabee Sanders doesn't lie, she just has a "slip of the tongue". Seems her oh so pious Dad forgot to tell her about the commandment not to bear false witness.
When another one bites the dust, Trump always comes up with someone even worse. Every time I think, well how much worse can it get, it does.
12
Sean at least had a sense of humor.
1
Sean had a sense of shame. His face got red when he told blatant lies. He hid in the bushes instead of facing the press. Sarah--no shame.
1
Now that Sarah Huckabee Sanders leaving the Trump White House will she be able to have a meal at the restaurant that unceremoniously kicked her out a few months ago?
1
I certainly hope not. I hope the stench of working and lying for the biggest criminal in the world follows her around for the rest of her miserable days. May she never have a moment’s piece for the fraud she helped perpetrate on America.
6
A White House Press Secretary should have integrity and not lie to the American people. Sarah Huckabee Sanders was found to have lied about the FBI in the Mueller Report. She had to admit this under oath. A normal WH administration with an ounce of credibility, would have fire her months ago. This is a dysfunctional administration that will allow even Kellyanne to stay on the job, even though she too was recommended to be fired for multiple violations of the Hatch Act. This is all still a distraction by Trump, in a failed attempt to flip the news cycle from his stupid remarks to anchor George Stephanopolos.
Sorry Mr. President, your self inflicted mistake from the Oval Office, is going to stick around for awhile. That one tops them all.
5
Worst press secretary ever. Loyal supporter of the Trump crime family.
16
Which press secretary or commercial PR person wasn't loyal to their employer?
1
No one will miss sister Sarah who like Trump repeatedly said nothing but lie.
6
SHS is an in your face self righteous liar. Don’t be surprised if you see her cashing in at Fox just in time to moderate their presidential debate. Why miss out on the talking heads goldmine that is the 2020 presidential election cycle by staying locked up in the now defunct White House Press Office?
3
Like Lee Atwater, Michael Cohen and many others who engage in malfeasance for the Republican party, sometime before her life is over she will disavow her lies, whether known or unknown, with tears and regret and possibly a book deal.
I might not live to see it, but mark my words, millenials.
4
So Sanders shows up after Sean Spicer quit as press sec. in July 2017.
Trump says she's been on the job 3 and a half years except it is not even 2 years and she essentially quit 3 months ago.
Sanders is talking about Honor.
Trump is talking about taking dirt from foreign governments and can't figure his way out of a paper bag why that is wrong.
God, will these people ever get out of our White House.
9
What lies ahead, Sarah?
23
Left unstated is why Sanders left.
It seems unlikely that Trump pushed her out; she was the perfect tout for him. It also seems unlikely that she couldn't just stomach repeating the endless lies any longer; her capacity for shameless lying is apparently bottomless. The term of the present governor of Arkansas, Asa Hutchinson, doesn't expire until 2023, so she's not leaving to run for governor. (So much for Trump's tweet.)
What's going on, Sarah?
14
@Lew I know--there is more to this story.....
4
Somewhere in DC The entire White Boise press corps is hopefully getting roaring drunk. April Ryan, Jim Acosta and all the others in the Fourth Estate deserve the Medal of Freedom for her abuse of them. Celebrate away, the Wicked Witch is dead. Let her go rot in Arkansas.
18
I assume she wants to spend more time lying to her family.
48
my favorite comment so far
3
Sanders said in her farewell tweet that she loved Trump and she loved her job.
She hasn't been ON the job for nearly a third of a year at full pay- so yeah, that must have been a treat.
Hope they demand more of her than nothing back in Arkansas. What a pitiful mess.
16
OMG!!! today was the first time, ever, that I saw a picture of Sanders smiling... it is in the Guardian... I don’t know when it was taken. She is staring adoringly into Trump’s face in the Oval Office with folks in the background.
I didn’t think she had it in her to smile. I guess her sullen resentment face was to show how painful it was for her to face the fake news... and then she no longer did about three months ago. She is was unhappily doing God’s work.
She, to me, was a perfect reflection of the Trump administration - everyone not part of the elite loyalist group are treated with distain and ridicule. This includes Trump voters, they at least get some forbearance - just enough to keep God’s chosen one in office.
3
God, what we must endure and what a tribute to us for enduring it! But I still do not understand why networks feel it all worth passing on,...such hateful, lying rubbish! You give them their power to distort and corrupt and we die a little more...for what,..ratings? Money?
Not a single word by Sanders has been truthfully uttered in all this time. I would not think it possible, even if one were born to spread untruth in some righteous disguise, to speak such putrid and glaring untruths with such uncaring ease! I do not understand such people...how they live with who and what they are; their words and beliefs gurgling up from some sour righteousness. I look forward to death. To be part of this no more. Better eternal silence and nothingness than the dreck which so grimly now commands and fouls the moment...and the age.
5
Still more lies to be told. After a short period of "mourning", we'll hear the REAL reason Trump fired her. Perhaps we'll be told some sad story but I expect it will be as sad as her work ethic. Can you believe Trump suggested she should run for office. Who except the Fax "news" entertainers would vote for her? And why would anyone want a Governor that only works TWO days in six months? We already have a "president" that spends 80% of his time cheating at golf and taking pleasure trips on our dime. We don't need anymore people in office like that.
11
Why would anyone quit a $180 K job where you work about once a month and lying is a prerequisite?
14
The best news Ive heard for awhile. So long!
11
Baghdad Bob is leaving the building!
9
Like Trump, Sarah has no integrity either. Neither will be gone soon enough.
6
Time for Trump to pick a “wartime” propagandist for the upcoming campaign, which will begin sometime after golf season and a summer of red-meat “rallies” in red states a short flight from a Trump “resort.” No real need for a press secretary, though. That role’s been phased out like head of the FDA, HUD, EPA, Treasury...another Trump temp, or three, will be found.
3
He don't need no stinking press secretary! Only he can do it.
3
Sarah who?Another drop out from the Gang that couldn't think straight. Kellyanne is next. Please.
8
I'll miss her lies.
Next......
3
Governor of Arkansas? He's kidding right?
2
Arkansas is consistently ranked in the bottom five states by every conceivable positive measure. So she should have no trouble becoming governor whatsoever.
2
Finally and Hopefully Cruella Trump is gone!!
5
Now she can finally write her book: "The I's Have It - Imbelicity, Idiotic and Impeached"
7
@Scooter
It should be amended: Now she can finally write her book: "The I's Have It - Imbelicity, Idiotic and Impeached - The Covfefe Years"
6
@Scooter Did she meet the Prince of Whales too?
1
Good riddance! Who is next?
3
Is a megachurch with daddy Mike in the future?
3
Not that she is irreplaceable but it is doubtful Trump will replace the press secretary. Why have one if no news flows through the press secretary? Twitter has become the vehicle of communication, albeit full of spelling and grammar errors. Twitter in the middle of the night from a restless sleep deprived despot who has taken apart all of the traditions of the White House. I would not be surprised if he did not pull out the plumbing used by the press who report to their desks in the White House.
Sanders was the huckster par excellence. She lied and lied and her nose never grew longer. She had no sense of shame. Often I wondered if I would have the same feelings if the gender was reversed and a man was speaking such malarkey. Did I react differently? Indeed would I feel different about Kelly Ann if she were a man? These puzzlements served only to occupy my mind to try to stamp out the stench of the lies.
I suspect we will see no replacement. We will see no more news briefings. Just more of the yelling from the White House lawn while the helicopter churns in the background. Any notion of the chief executive communicating to the people through the press has been extinguished. There is a need to bash all norms in an effort to appeal to the base base. No president ever announced his reelection plans the first day of his first term in office. He has been running for the next election and be damned the need to do the job at hand.
5
Once she is gone if I never see that woman's hateful face again my life will be blessed.
9
She did an incredible job given the political environment. It’s always easier to take shots after the fact. That position is arguably one of the most difficult jobs to navigate successfully....especially given that there is no such thing as a successful outcome when there is such political vitriol. Give Ms. Huckabee credit for hanging in there and leaving on her own terms.

@EV
I’m not entirely sure what her job consisted of. I am sure that the American taxpayer paid her salary for doing.....whatever she did.

@Ev
Seriously? How about "She was just following orders" as her rationalize. We've heard that explanation repeatedly throughout history,

@EV
PS; I took shots during her reign of terror and will continue to do so after. You’re right, it is easy!

Sarah Huckabee Sanders, as Donald Trump's spokesperson stayed close to the company line, sometimes in a less obnoxious manner, than her boss. I gave up looking for hidden messages and innuendos that might help make sense of Trump's pronouncements. She will be offered jobs, interviews, maybe even Senate subpoenas. She certainly could write a book, but would it be worth reading? I always figured she was salting money away for family, and not worrying too much about content.

One might not question the lady's faith but how she has squared that faith with Proverbs 17:7 is way beyond my comprehension. Worse, perhaps, is that she is now free to wreak havoc on a more intensive level in a smaller arena, empowered by what is only cheap notoriety and slick presentation.

Donald does not need a press secretary. He thinks he knows more than everyone so let him speak as eloquently as he did yesterday about dirt on rivals coming from enemies.
As for Sarah, her running for governor of Arkansas quite possibly could lead to a Democratic victory. Surely there must be a sizable number of folks there who would relish hearing the truth for a change. Her only qualification for both the governorship and for press secretary is her Daddy. Both liars, pseudo religious, and lacking all moral fiber. She may try to false advertise herself as part of the MeToo movement.

"I am blessed and forever grateful to @realDonaldTrump for the opportunity to serve and proud of everything he’s accomplished. I love the President and my job. The most important job I’ll ever have is being a mom to my kids and it’s time for us to go home. Thank you Mr. President!" - SHS
His "accomplishments"? . . . Warping democracy and pushing autocracy? Ruining relationships with allies while promoting dictators? Assaulting environmental regulations? Promoting a $2 trillion dollar tax cut primarily benefiting corporations such as his own? Denigrating our American concept of receiving immigrants with welcome arms?
Her children will be proud.

Sanders sold her soul for pennies on the dollar when she agreed to be the public mouthpiece of the Deranged Donnie.
It should come as no surprise that she lacked the ethical convictions required to condemn her boss's vile, inflammatory rhetoric and blatant lies.
No respectable employer will be interested in her services.
Of course, that leaves News Corp off the hook.
6
What may be remembered most about her terrible tenure is her sanctimoniousness and her hostility to anyone who questioned her boss's motives. She was more than simply a mouthpiece and a defender of the indefensible - she was harpy intent on belittling anyone or anything outside the Trump bubble. Her pearls weren't exactly pearls of wisdom. Who could be worse? We may soon find out.

A bit of good news!

If hypocrisy was a virtue, Sarah would be a saint.
10
It profiteth a man nothing to lose his soul for the whole world, but for Trump?
4
Great news!! Must of ran out of lies. Make America honest again.
5
Oh, no! Who will we turn to for the “truth”?!
3
Sarah Sanders...so religious yet so very far from God. It's amazing how she and her boss can show no moral or ethical behavior yet claim legitimacy.

Sarah Huckabee Sanders was as effective as a fish riding a bicycle. She will not be missed. I barely realized she was still in the position as White House Press Secretary.

@Marge Keller
To the contrary--she did her job of obfuscating, dissembling, and lying extremely well. It's why she lasted as long as she did.

@Marge Keller
I borrowed the fish and bike reference from Gloria Steinem. Sincere apologies for not indicating that in my original comment.

@Scott Cole
You are correct Mr. Cole. I guess it all comes down to one's interpretation of what an "effective" job really implies.
23
Good bye, so long, we won't be seeing you in all the familiar places. Truly an ugly stain on the integrity of political journalism in America; a slap on the face to the American taxpayer. Prestige of public office, integrity, truth, respect, upholding democratic norms, personal decency, placing country above politics, defending the rule of law; these things Ms. Sanders could have defended simply by resigning her position within a few days of starting as press secretary.
Better to fight like a lion for what is right, than to serve a cowardly president, timidly. Shameful conduct for having to "defend". These principles should always be promoted in a healthy democracy. They should be held sacred at home if you hope that other countries will follow your lead. Truly sorry for you America.

@John Sarah takes her place among the other quislings surrounding Trump. She will live in infamy and disgrace.
68
@John Rumor has is that she is gunning for governor - of her home state, Arkansas i think.
10
@John
John: You have stated "These principles should always be promoted in a healthy democracy" and therein lies the problem. After decades of wealth redistribution from the poor and middle class to a handful of über-wealthy individuals, gerrymandering of voting districts to assure election of reactionary Republicans, and hundreds of judicial appointments at all levels to judges who are political extremists rather than unbiased interpreters of the law, the United States is no longer a healthy democracy. It is a dictatorship governed by greed and a skewed vision of what capitalism is.

How will she comport herself when she has to leave her bubble and interact with the rest of us?
13
Speaking as a woman, I have continually been mortified and ashamed that someone of my gender, a mother like me no less, could have been such a public low life and such a vile example for our country. Good riddance. Go home and stay home. I never want to see her on my screen again. But that goes for all of this Trump circus. What a sad, depressing time we are having in the US now.
