Dolly Parton is "the light of a clear blue morning". A treasure.

Dolly is pure gold. I just finished reading the article about Madonna. Dolly wins by a margin of from here to Neptune and back again.
Kate (Phoenix)
I love you Dolly. I’m not a country-music fan generally, but I’m YOUR fan.

She is a goddess that walks the earth. I had the pleasure of meeting her once a few years ago and she was exactly what I hoped she'd be. She said, "Let's get our pitcher made." She smelled amazing and was so tiny. One of the best nights of my life.

Dolly Parton is a hero Her imagination library program has given out 100 million books. When fires ripped apart Smoky Mountain communities, Dolly supported rebuilding. There are few people who have done so much good. Also, she sings.

As a native Nashvillian I’ve heard many personal stories about various mucisans through the years, but my favorites are all Dolly stories. A high school friends mom is Dolly’s long time hair stylist. This past Christmas she posted photos of Dolly baking and decorating cookies with her two young sons - the whole gang in Christmas attire. What celebrity treats her hair stylists grandchildren as if they are her own? Christmas cookies with Dolly- can you even imagine the magic?! Will also never forget what she did for each victim of the smoky mountain wildfires. Dolly always has been, and always will be, the real deal.

A great article - so much of Ms. Parton’s personality, philanthropy, and playfulness shows in this quick Q&A. It is great feeling for this Tennessee boy to be reading about Tennessee’s favorite daughter in the country’s most distinguished paper. Keep it up!

My boys go to Dollywood every summer with their cousins! They’d go there over Disney anytime! Dolly is a national treasure. She should run for President!

I love her. No one like Dolly.

More famous than Madonna and just as humble.

Teenagers are welcome “as long as they behave “... Just love her!!!

Dolly is just awesome as a possum!

How can anybody not love Dolly Parton? She is an amazing talent with a huge heart of gold.
Ginnie Kozak (Beaufort, SC)
Darn. I wanted to say the same things everyone who posted before me has already said. But I would multiply them exponentially because she is so great!
Andrea (Florida)
She’s awesome. If she were a man she’d be known as a “Gentleman & A Scholar “. Wish there was a female equivalent I could put my finger on at this moment. Anybody have any suggestions?
Cate (NYC)
@Andrea My mom would call her "a class act!"
Scott (New Orleans)
Love, love, love Dolly Parton! She is, and should be, an inspiration to all. Never forgets where she’s from, tries to help others, includes all without exception, and spreads happiness everywhere. Along with that, an amazing talent who deserves recognition for her tremendous contribution to music.
Dave (Atlanta)
I just love Dolly Parton - so down to earth... and what a Professional person... thinking about jobs and giving back. I say run Dolly Parton for President and change the world!
Hilda (BC)
@Dave Being Dolly is so much more than being a president ever could be!!
Andrew (NYC)
If you ever want a spark of joy in your life, watch an interview with Dolly Parton. She is a national treasure!

As a San Franciscan with all its coastal values, I visited Dollywood many years ago.....and was so impressed! It is as clean as Disneyland and gives so many jobs to people in this area. I really admire Dolly Parton. I sat in a show amidst a Southern Baptist congregation from Kentucky. We chatted and joked about stereotypes we each had of the other....
Kate (Phoenix)
I’m a San Franciscan too - although I live in Phoenix now - and like you, I completely relate to Dolly. It’s her authenticity.

Kudos to Dolly Parton, a great artist and lovely person.
