My dream house would be on a hill in California. It would look very traditional with towering double doors and columns. It would always smell like a batch of cookies straight from the oven. It would have modern rooms. For example, there would be four bedrooms; two king-sized and two queen-sized. A private chef would work in a huge open kitchen. My dream house would have a game room, too, with games like pool, poker, air hockey and lots more. My dream house would also have a gigantic living room with two massive couches that would be as soft as sitting on clouds. In addition, there would be an ginormous TV, a humongous dining room, a coffee shop, a bakery and a basketball court. Overall, it would be a great house!
Marina (Greece)
My dream house would be a minimal house out of the city, i would like a big house with four floors and many rooms. One of the floors will be a place for gym. And the other floors would have rooms with modern decoration. I would like a big balcony and a beautiful view. I would also like a big garden with a lot of colorful flowers and trees and swings for my spare time and for relax. I also want a pool for me and for my friends to organize parties in the summer. This is my dream house!!

Mary, Greece My dream house is the house that I live now with my husband John but after I Can dream another house I would like a traditional house in a Greek island like Milos or Mykonos.I would like to wake up every morning to watch the sea and relax! Also I 'd like to have a big pool and barbecue to have good times with my family and my friends!!
Vagia (Greece)
My house of my dream would be a stone house in a mountain close to a stream where every morning I could hear the sound of the water and birds signing. A place like that is in Mountain Pindos in Greece. The scenery is so beautiful with pine trees and a huge variety of flora and fauna. I could collect my food from the forest and I could also cultivate my own vegetable and fruits. Furthermore with this way of living we could protect the environment as we consume less energy and we product less carbon dioxide. I would like my stone house to have a spacious kitchen where I could cook for my family and friends and why not I could earn money by making homemade jams! Finally I like so much flowers that I could have a nice colorful garden!
Jenny (Athens, Greece)
My dream house would be for sure a house by the sea, in a greek island. It would probably be in Serifos. I would prefer it to have a big garden with lots of flowers and vegetables.Α big, cute veranda with a nice view to the sea would be perfect. I love having a coffee and read my book under the sun in the morning or in the evening. I dont think it needs to be lux or expensive but I d like it to have lots of space so as I can invite my friends and spend our sunny days all together, having dinner, lunch, and go to the beach. Anyways, our dream house is definitely the house which contains our happiest moments! And Im pretty sure for this!!! Summer is coming! Lets enjoy sea and sun!
Dimitra (Greece)
My dream house I would like to be near a city but I prefer the countryside. I’d like it to be near the sea or near the lake. outside it I would like to have a garden with tall trees and flowers, a big balcony which I could sit and contemplate the sunset while I am reading a book. I wouldn’t want a giant home. A family’s house is ideal. As for its indoor decoration I love the style with stones and wood. I would choose gently colors for the curtains and carpets. I want a bid living room with big couches and many pillows. There I would invite my friends. I would like to have beautiful arts in the walls. For my bedroom I would prefer a room with large glass windows bright walls to start the day with positive spirit.
Lia (Athens)
My dream house I would like to be in the center of my city. Somewhere near the Acropolis maybe . I would like to wake up every morning and see the Parthenon. I haven’t ever lived near the center but I always liked the crowded areas!
Johnkap (Greece)
The house of my dreams is a small white house with blue windows on the edge of cliff on Sifnos island in Greece.Every morning i will wake up with a beautiful view of the sea. In the back, there's a garden for my vegetables and a barbecue to bake fresh fish with friends. Inside of nothing special,a living room with a fireplace for the winter,a kitchen,a bathroom and a big bedroom. My dreams house is a house full on happy people
Molly Christensen (hoggard high school)
I want my dream house to be near the beach. As a kid, my dad would take me and my brother camping every Saturday night at the beach near my house. Waking up to the noises of the ocean and seagulls are simply music to my ears. If I can wake up every morning to those noises I would be so happy, no matter what my house looked like. I don't want to live in a fancy, multimillion dollar mansion, I want something cozy, small. Something where I can have my huge family over and we all be comfortable, but also fit just me alone and not feel too isolated; I want the Goldilocks house.
Kyriaki (Greece)
My dream house would like to be in a area with view on the sea and not many neighbours. The house would be made of largest part of glass in combination with stone and wood. I would like to have first floor, ground-floor and basement. In the besament there will be playroom and storage room. I like to organize nights with my friends and play games. In the ground-floor there will be a big living-room which it will have home cinema because I like to watch movies, the next will have a dinning-room, a big kitchen and a bathroom. In the first floor there will be bedrooms , a bathroom and a oficce. My bedroom and my oficce will be made of glass to illuminate with natural sun light and will have a small balkoni each. My oficce would be large because I would like to put me desing-oficce and a library of books I need. The furniture of the house will be very mondern with colours. Finally the garden will be big with various tree for shade and many flowers.
Giuseppe Marturano (Hoggard High School)
My dream house would be in the Hollywood hills on a big hill not near any other houses. I would it to look really modern on the outside with a triple garage. The reason for my three car garage is so my wife's car and my car and an extra car can all fit. I also would like a nice size backyard for my dogs to run around. When i went to LA and drove around the Hollywood hills were one of the most beautiful places I've been.
Paige Phillips (Hoggard High School, Wilmington NC)
My dream home would be in the middle of the mountains. Most of the walls in the house would be glass so you would be able to see the beautiful view of trees all around you. My house would have to be near a hiking trail so I would be able to go on my daily runs or just go on a leisurely walk. The interior of the house would be very open and bright. I wouldn’t have many rooms in the house because the house would mainly be for my comfort and I wouldn’t want a lot of people staying over. A must for my house would be a hot tub on the back porch for the cold winters. I can imagine myself sitting in it, realxing, as I watch the sunset over the mountain tree tops.
Evan Castillo (walla walla)
My dream house will be on the beach. The house will have to be a modern house like with glass and white paint. I would want it be private becuase i like to go CRAZY AH GO STUPID AHHH go crazy.
Audrey E. (Hoggard High School, Wilmington NC)
The house has to be tall. White would be the most preferable color to brighten the interior. Large windows I wouldn't be able to live without. I need to feel the hazy sun as it reflects into my cavern and makes everything it touched turn to gold. Plants is a must, ones with long green leaves and small freckled flowers would be the most suitable. The plants would give the home a more pleasant feel as it transforms your living space into a place of nature and life. I would definitely need a giant kitchen, one so large that when I create a mess (Which I always manage while cooking) that I still have room to try again. I know I would need a house with extraordinary views that put your mind at ease and a balcony that you can lean against with a cup of sweet coffee as it warms your palms. Now my room would be the hardest part. I would need room for a bookshelf to hold my fantasies and sketchbooks, and it would be all so comfortable to have a window seat to read those books on. The bed would have to be plump and soft to meet my desires and it would need many colorful pillows for upcoming battles with friends. Finally there is the last item to complete my dream house: I would need friends or family to be there too, because a home to me truly isn't home without the most comforting thing in the world: The people that make you happy.
Nikki (Danvers)
I have lived in only two placed in my life: Everett and Danvers. When I was little I had to share a room with my two brothers until we moved, and I finally got my own room. However, even though both my homes were small, it caused my family to be close everyday. For my dream home, I want two floors along with a basement. First off, in the basement there will be a small movie theater, big enough for 25 people, so I can enjoy watching movies with my family and friends. This theater has a bar, fridge dedicated to sodas, juice, and water while there is a closet filled with any snack imaginable. There will also be a half bath encase, all the food and drinks make me want to go during a movie. On the first floor will be a open plan layout with a large white marble kitchen and a island where feasts will be held. Right next to the kitchen will be a large couch and a big flat screen TV. The walls will be covered in board games for when family comes over. Also in the first floor will be a piano room for when I want to play music, next to the largest room: my bedroom. Next on the second floor will be 5 more bedrooms for guests and a ame room for the boys. I want my dream home to be for my family. There is no use for a big house unless you have people to share it with.
Anna Patsalos (Hoggard, Wilmington, NC)
My dream home would be a large beach house right on the water. It would have four stories, 10 bedrooms, 8 bathrooms, a soccer field, a mini waterpark, a rooftop pool, and it would be fairly modern. Ever since I was a little kid I have thought about what I would want in my dream home, and I've always struggled with it. Recently, we've been reading Les Misérables in English class and I found that there could be a connection between this confusion about my dream home and a scene in the book. In the beginning of the book, the Bishop gives up his large house in exchange for the small hospital so that the people in the hospital can have the space they need. I thought about this more and how it could connect to the fact that a dream home doesn't have to be the biggest, most expensive thing you can think of. My dream home could be a house that fulfills all of my living necessities and allows me to have people over to visit. It could be a small cottage just big enough for my family, and that would be plenty. The Bishop didn't need the large house to be happy, further proving that it is not always the materialistic things that make us happiest. I think that it is not necessarily a bad thing to think about what you would want if you could have anything, but thinking about what would have the biggest impact on not just you, but the people around you is good too. I think that if people thought more like the Bishop, a dream home wouldn't be a five story mansion, but a simple family home.
Dimitra (Greece)
@Anna Patsalos you are so right!
Katya Zouzias (Hoggard High School)
If I ever had the opportunity to create my dream house my imagination might go too far. Of course, I would start off with where I would build my house, which would have to be somewhere tropical and warm. Basic, I know but there is no other climate I would prefer. My house would be big enough to let visitors come and go as they please. Giving to others can make people very happy but it is hard to do if you do not have a lot of things to give. Just to make sure I have this opportunity I would fill every room with items my visitors would personally enjoy and be able to take for themselves. Most of the floors in the house would be a trampoline and the walls would be made of memory foam. My house would definitely be on the water but I would also have a pool attached to a hot tub in the yard. At the very top of my house, I would have a huge circular patio with pillows everywhere. Attached to this patio would be a huge clear slide going into the pool and a zip line going to my dock. I would also love to have a room dedicated to meditation. The room would be filled with pillows, swings, tapestries and would just be a place for me to relax. Something I always wanted to be in my house would be a firefighter pole coming from the top floor all the way to the bottom. If I ever achieve this dream house I would invite my loved ones over to visit all the time. If you are given such luxury you should share the experience with others.
Dimitra (Greece)
@Katya Zouzias your house must be so wonderful and real fun for everyone!
Gabriela Ferullo (Danvers, Massachusetts)
My dream house would contain anything and everything I could possibly imagine. It would be located on an island with sunny, white-sanded beaches that would be private to me and my visitors. I would not want to be totally isolated, so the house would probably be a short submarine ride back to main land; however, the house would contain basically all the things I would ever need. The kitchen would probably be one of the best areas of the house. It would contain sundae bars along with aisles and aisles of candy. In addition to this, a personal chef-robot would be working, ready to cook up any meal at any time. In my house I would also like a movie theatre room with big, comfy chairs that I could watch tv in. My backyard design would be inspired by a big water park. There would be big, twisty water slides, as well as a lazy river for relaxing. For even more relaxing, I would have a huge bed in my huge bedroom. In addition, there would be a big balcony overlooking the beautiful ocean.

My dream house would be a replica of my self-designed minecraft home. Naturally, the house would have to be located on the top of a mountain. This location would provide protection from my enemies and allow me to have abundant resources when I choose to go mining. The basic design of my home would consist of solid gold blocks as walls. The first floor would hold a small kitchen, dining room, and an epic gaming room. As we ascend to the second floor, several rooms would be used for storage and others will be used for crafting tools, materials, and other necessities. Almost every room would consist of a furnace to produce heat and will be powered preferably by coal rather than wood or other materials. Every room in my house would be lit by small fires found at the end of torches which will be placed near the ceiling of each room's corners. On the roof of my house, there will be a large watch tower stocked with a bow and plenty of arrows to ward off anyone who approaches. In addition, there will be a small farm, encased by a wooden fence, that will consist of several animals such as pigs, cows, chickens, and sheep. Neighboring this will be a large field with a irrigation system that will yield wheat, pumpkins, watermelon, and beets. Finally, there will be a deep mine descending into the mountain towards the rear of my house. This will also be run by a minecart system powered by a redstone energy source. This is my epic minecraft dream house.

My dream home, though I love New England, would be located right on a beautiful beach in Malibu, California. Of course, the beach I would live on would have to have amazing waves 24/7, so I could walk down to my surfboard hut, choose one of my 20 surfboards, and get to shredding. The house, on the other hand, would be no hut. I would want a futuristic home, with huge glass windows facing towards the water. (something like the two and a half men house) I would have a little private driveway leading to my crib, with a face reading gate at the start of it. The front of my house would be custom Hawaii lava rock stone, with a 10 foot tall wooden door. I would have my Lamborghini Aventador, Bugatti , Ferrari 458, and Rolls Royce wraith all parked in front in my circle driveway. There would be a small soccer field out to the left of my house, with a path leading down to the beach and to my basketball court out to the right of my house. Right as you step into the house, you would look up and see a huge chandelier, over a spiral staircase. Our course, I would have an infinity pool and hot tub overlooking to ocean, with a pool house and bar on the patio. The kitchen would have aged wood countertops, big enough for my cook to whip up some dandy meals. The tv would be placed over my stone fireplace, with a big L couch for entertaining. Upstairs, my room would be a master suit with a dope lava lamp, TV, master bathroom, and more. In the attic there would be a big gym and gaming room.

My dream home would be somewhere still in Massachusetts, I'm not exactly sure where yet because I want to be able to see my family occasionally, but not too often. My dream home would have three stories, and on the first floor there would be the basics that any house has, a living room, dining room, kitchen, and maybe an office, depending on what job I may have in the future. On the second floor would be my bedroom with a massive television screen. Additionally, the rest of that floor will be a very large room with a mini golf course. Finally, the third floor will be one big room with arcade games, pool tables, and air hockey tables. There will be stairs that go up all three floors, but there will additionally be an elevator and also a slide that I can go down to any floor; because why not. Outside my house will be a two car garage, an outdoor pool, and a yard big enough for a driving range to hit golf balls. There will also be another section of my yard with a small field set up for a game of wiffleball. This small field will be a replica of Fenway Park on a smaller scale suitable for a wiffleball game. My dream home would be located in a safe, quiet, and friendly suburban neighborhood.
Christopher Tansey (Massachusetts)
My dream home would be located somewhere near the coast where I could ski in the winter and go to the beach in the summer. It is important that my house is close to some kind of city so that I could have entertainment when I get bored. The house itself would be constructed to my specifications. The design would be rustic yet sophisticated. The entryway would feature vaulted ceilings and a large sitting room with a fireplace. My kitchen would have stainless steel appliances with a white marble counter top contrasting the wood flooring and cabinets. I would have an island in the middle with a massive griddle and stove top. It is important that I have a nice kitchen so that my cook could produce perfect cuisine. One side of the kitchen would feature a pantry that takes up the entire wall so that I would always have snacks. Also my house would have a massive wraparound deck. Half of the deck would be covered by a roof and the rest would be open to the sun. Similarly, my house would feature a hidden patio leading to a pool in the back of my house. This hidden area could be used to simply relax in private or throw massive parties. Inside my house, I would have a gaming room, a movie theater, and a hot tub. My bedroom would be the highest room in the house and would feature massive glass windows and french doors on opposing walls. One would face the sprawling ocean in front of me and the other the mountains behind me.
Emily Whalen (Massachusetts)
For my dream home, I would want it to encompass an equal balance of relaxation and accessibility. The first image that comes to mind is a modern home near a beachfront in South Carolina, near a relatively big town or city. The weather of that area would allow me to take part in almost any activity - going out with friends in town, swimming, or hiking! I would love for my home to be very modern, mostly monotone on the inside with lots of marble accents, maybe a room or two with popping color. Further, I think it would be a great addition to have many windows throughout the home in order to see the beautiful backyard and pool that will be on the property. Living in my house, I would love to have one dog and one cat, in which I’d decorate part of a room with scratching posts, pet beds, etc. I’d have a movie theater and large recliner couch, perfect for any movie. Other than that, there would be 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms (one attached to the master) and a large open kitchen. The master would include a balcony, a walk in closet, and a windowsill big enough to sit and read a book on. And of course, there would be a game room complete with arcade games, video games, a desktop, and a ping pong table. With all these features to my dream house, I can’t imagine I’d have any complaints.
Declan Quinn (Danvers MA)
When I grow up I want to be able to live in a log cabin in the mountains of Colorado. My house will be placed in the middle of the woods so I do not have any neighbors that will interrupt my daily activities. However, this will be no ordinary cabin. My house will have 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. Along with the main house there will be a tree house situated right above the house and connected by an elevator. Underneath the house there will be my very own bat cave where I can house all of my cars and helicopters. The main house will have an indoor pool as well as a massive central fireplace and cozy bunk rooms. There will also be a bowling alley and movie theater in the main house. The tree house that will be nestled in the trees 50 feet above my house will contain the master bedroom. This room will have stunning views of the Colorado mountains and wilderness. Below the house the bat cave will act as a garage. I will have countless cars as well as snowmobiles and helicopters. I will need the helicopter to take me up to the top of the mountains so I can ski down and reach untouched parts of the mountains. The snowmobile will also help me transport myself around the mountains. Additionally, the bat cave will have a race track where I can race my guest with all of the super cars I will have. Also I will have massive parties and use my cars/helicopter for transportation. That is my dream house.
Mike Mahoney (MA)
My whole life I have grown up in a tiny house. I live with my mom and my dog, Poko. When I grow up and have my own family it would be awesome to have a big house with everything that anyone could ever ask for. This is not a realistic expectation, but hey, one can dream. I would make sure that I had a huge backyard where I’d put a high-tech treehouse, with a zipline to the back porch. I'd make it a zipline with handlebars so there is a possibility of falling, but I’d make sure to have a couple carabiners around in case anyone came over that wasn’t really up for it. I love the thrill of doing stunts like that, but even more so I love and have an absolute passion for music. I’d have one room for just a grand piano, guitar, trumpet, and saxophone - the instruments I play already - and one for every other instrument known to man. Instead of watching television when I had nothing to do I could just pick up a bassoon and stream tutorials. Across the hall from the these two rooms would be my recording studio. This is where I’d record albums that I composed, played all the parts, and sang. Heading downstairs I’d have my man cave. This would have a game room area and workout room area. In the game room my pool table, flat screen, and ping pong table. In the workout room my weight bench, punching bags and treadmill. This is everything that matters to me about my dream house. I know that there’s no kitchen, but in this dream scenario I’d be able to just order take out for every meal.
Sara Desrocher (Massachusetts)
I have always thought about what my dream house would look like, though I am happy to say it has evolved from when I was ten-years old. It's no longer about having eight bedrooms with king sized beds, a movie theater, an indoor and outdoor pool, oh yeah and lets not forget that really necessary ten car garage. When I imagine my dream home now, it would be something that’s a happy place for me, but also the environment. First of all, it would definitely be somewhere very serene and tranquil, maybe near a meadow, a river, a mountain; I heard Montana is really pretty, so maybe there? Where ever my home is, I would want it to be surrounded by nature. The house would be a humble size, nothing to big or fancy, but big enough to hold basic necessities. I’m not sure specifically how the house would look, however, I would definitely want it to be unique and have lots of meaningful details. The inside would have a few bedrooms, all with their own individual bathrooms. It would have a really cute rustic kitchen, with lots of counter-top space and a dining room attached right next to it. The whole house would be powered by solar energy, or some kind of sustainable energy, and would have a compost pile, a rainwater collector, and a really beautiful garden with flowers, fruits, and vegetables. As I'm sure my house will continue to change and evolve to the person I become two, ten, or even fifty years from now, it's always important to find your happy place, and this is that for me.
Madison Prideaux (Boston, Massachusetts)
My dream home would be somewhere in the suburbs, a very similar environment to where I live now. I want a big bedroom with a loft-style double bed, a desk underneath, walls full of art, and plenty of fairy lights. I want my bedroom to feel comforting, and be a place I can go to get away from the outside world and relax. Other things that I have thought about for my dream home would definitely be a wrap-around farmers porch. It would have a plush, hanging chair and be full of aesthetic plants. For the kitchen, it doesn’t have to be too big but I would like to have an island in the middle that has a stove top built right into the counter. It would be sleek, clean, and full of candles. The living room would be the centerpiece to the whole house. The comfiest couch, with an abundance of accent pillows and throws, along with the most versatile storage spaces. There would be hardwood floors with the occasional rug, possibly too occasional. The whole house would be spattered with art and pictures of things I love: my family, my friends, other peoples’ art, and even my own. The last part of my dream house that I have thought of is the basement; finished, carpeted, cozy. I want it to be a space that I can hang out with my friends or just chill out and watch T.V with my dog. My dream home isn’t finished, and I’m sure it will change as I get older, but I think it’s important to have dreams because they are what drive us to achieve those things that we want.
Xzayah (Providence)
If I were able to create my dream home, I would want my home to have certain characteristics. For example, I don't want my home to be too big. I would like to have a big home, but not unnecessarily big. In my opinion, it is a waste to have a house that has ten bedrooms and eight baths. Unless you have a really large family, most of those rooms will go to waste. Like the article states, "Larger homes use more resources, typically require longer commutes, come with more expensive utility bills..." I would like my dream home to be in the suburbs, where the city isn't too far. I also want a really big yard where I can put a pool and have enough room where my dogs can run around. My house would have a modern decor and I would have a really big bedroom with walk in closets. I want each bedroom to have a balcony that looks into the yard. Overall, I would like my house to be nice and unique, but not be a mansion.
Allison (MA)
If I was going to build a dream home for myself, as detailed as possible, I would not go for necessarily the largest and most expensive home, but more so rather a cozy, larger and older house, with two floors. I would want it to be in a very specific location, either right by the ocean, in a coastal town, or in a more rural area. I would want my house to have both a front and back porch, as well as a large backyard, possibly with a jacuzzi. I would want to have a lot of windows all throughout the house, and skylight windows as well, so as much sunlight could come in as possible. I would want to fill the house with as many plants as possible, ones hanging down from the ceiling, and potted plants on the floor. A garden outside, filled with wildflowers, a bird bath, and bird seed would also be nice, because I like to be able to look out my windows and see birds around. I would want a kitchen large enough to be able to cook in and bake with a large confectioners oven. I would want a fish tank in at least one of the rooms, with many different fish inside, and I would want a large bedroom for myself with a window seat inside, white sheer curtains, and a large, cozy bed piled with pillows. I would want to decorate my house as detailed as possible and fill it will all of my favorite things, because I would want it to express my personality as much as possible and be cozy too.
Caitlyn Pellerin (Danvers, MA)
Ever since I was a little girl I’ve known what my dream house would be. Ideally I would be living in Georgia or South Carolina, wherever is warmer. I would have a nice, two story house on a big plot of land, where I would also have a bunch of animals. Although I would have a full time job, I would still like to take care of my cows, horses, rabbits, goats, chickens, and pigs. I would want a fireplace in my living room, high ceilings, and a big kitchen to make good food for when I have friends and family over. My cats and dogs would have room to play without ruining anything, and I probably would want a greenhouse to grow plants. A big front porch with rocking chairs would be perfect for reading. Having a lake near the house for swimming would be nice in the summers. I think most importantly would be lots of windows and French doors so that my house is always bright and sunny. I would also want to live close to the city so I can work there, but far enough away that it’s quiet.
Abigail Cash (Boston)
I would want my dream house to be located in a quiet neighborhood that is a short walk from the beach. I would like to be near a beach because it would be a good resource for the spring and summer time. I would not want my dream house to be huge, but big enough so you would not feel crowded. I would rather my house feel cozy and welcoming. My dream house would have three floors and when you first walk into the house there would be a double staircase leading to the second floor. The first floor of the house would contain my kitchen which would have granite countertops, white cabinets, and a smaller table off to the side for eating dinner. The living room would have grey couches and a TV that is mounted into the wall. The first floor would also have a bathroom with only a shower but not a bathtub. My dream house would also have a basement which would be an area for watching movies, playing board games and family activities. The second floor of my dream house would consist of a master bedroom with a bathroom that has a jacuzzi, walk in shower, and a king size bed. The second floor would have three other bedrooms, as well as another bathroom with a shower and smaller bathtub. Overall, I would want my dream house to have some stand out features but not so much that it would feel overwhelming.
Joseph Foglietta (Danvers, MA)
My dream house would be a very simplistic house. It would have to be in New England, preferably somewhere in the mountains. It would be a very humble house, most likely with three bedrooms and two bathrooms. It would be on the side of a lake, with a wrap around porch with a full view of the water and mountains in the distance. In the summer it would be incredibly warm, and in the winter it would snow a ton so I could ski. It would have a bunch of antiques around the house to make it cozy and very personal. It would also have a decent sized kitchen so that I could cook. It would have a chimney and fireplace, along with a very log cabin look in the interior. There would be large windows all around the house in order to let natural light in. It would have a really nice game room with a pool and ping pong table, along with a good sized T.V. with cable and video games. I would have a large collection of board games to play as well. I would want a huge back yard so I could throw really nice parties during the summer. It would have a grill and a massive fire pit. My dream house would not be very modern and fancy, but rather large, rustic, and cozy. I would want to spend time with family and friends there, take them out on the lake during the summer, and ski with them during the winter.
Conor FitzGerald (Danvers)
My dream home isn't out of the ordinary. I would love to live on the beach overlooking a nice private beach. I would have a lot of windows, letting a lot of sun come in. I want my house to feel spacious, but not to the point of feeling too empty. I would want an infinity pool overlooking the beach and a lit up hot tub for the nighttime. Wow, this is making me want to achieve this dream even more. I would like a man cave with all of the necessities. A 70 inch TV would be nice and a recording studio too. Recording is a hobby of mine, so that is where I would spend most of my free time. You might ask, " What would you do for work?" Honestly, I don't really know because if I had enough money for all of the things listed, I don't think I would have to work. My parents have always told me if I had enough money to never make my wife work so that's exactly what I would do. I would spread my wealth. If I had enough money I would have my most poor friend be living his dream. If I had to work however, I would like to be an artist or a business owner. To be honest when I think of all of this I see it as more of my future than my dream. I will never stop pushing forward.

When I think of my dream house I do not think of a mansion with 40 rooms. I think more of a house that has 5 or 6 bedrooms so there would be enough rooms for kids and a guest room for when relatives want to stay over. I would want the master bedroom to have its own bathroom and have its own walk in closet. I would want the bedrooms to be all upstairs while the main dining room, kitchen, etc. would be on the main floor. I would also want to have a finished basement that has a nice couch, a big tv, a pool table, and a really mini kitchen.I want to have a huge yard. I want a cozy front yard with tons of plants leading the way up to the doorway and in my backyard I would want a pool and enough room to have a makeshift volleyball net put up. If I could, I would also want an above ground hot tub put on my porch. I would want a hand built fireplace outside in the backyard for late summer nights. I would want my kitchen to be big and to have the best cooking supplies I could have. I would want a dining room to have a really pretty light dangling over the table for a perfectly lit dinner. In my backroom I would want to have a couple really comfortable couches and have a really big tv.

My dream house would be enormous. It would also be isolated. Preferably, at the somewhere in the ocean like the city of Atlantis. I would designate a similar city to myself. Of course others would live there too because I would be overcome with loneliness otherwise, but it would be my city. My home itself would be a modest 7 floors. The bottom floor would be for the swimming pool and lounge area. The second floor would house any guests and would have at least 5 bedrooms. The third floor would be for a basketball court, and the fourth for a football field. The fifth floor would be a trampoline park and a movie theater. The sixth floor would have my master bedroom and the 7th floor would be the aquarium. To create the aquarium would be rather simple as I would only have to make the walls glass to view the surrounding sea life. As it would be difficult to reach my home, I would have no unwanted visitors. At the same time though, I would make sure there are enough submarines to shuttle an entire party back and forth. Practically speaking, these submarines would have to also deliver food and other resources to me everyday. For this reason, I will mine the deep sea to obtain an alternative fuel source for my submarines to run on. This fuel source, untouched by any other human life, will be abundant to me the others in my city. By using this, I will save money and will eventually be able to arise from my dwelling and alert the world of my discoveries and make millions on Earth.

When I was a kid I would imagine all sorts of homes. The houses I thought of would vary greatly from a large palace that had anything and everything imaginable in it, all the way to a small portable house like the ones seen on the HGTV’s show Tiny Houses Big Living that I used to watch with my grandmother. Sometimes I would imagine a large cabin in the Swiss Alps similar to those seen in James Bond Movies. Other times I would imagine a small and cozy, but neat apartment in Los Angeles, where I’d live with myself and a small dog that I would name fluffy. The next day I would picture myself living in a house in a small town in Germany, and the house would look like those cliche 15th century German homes. There were even times where I’d think about living in my own home, but this time I’d own it. The one common thing with all of these homes is that I would always be happy in them. The house could be huge, or small, by a mountain or a beach, modern or classic, and no matter what, at that point in time, my heart was wherever that house was, and I could never be more happy. There’s a saying that home is where the heart is, and nothing could be more true.

Everyone has their own vision of what their dream house will look like. My dream house is nothing special. It isn’t some billion dollar mansion with an ocean view. It isn’t some trendy contemporary apartment filled with expensive furniture and decoration. My dream house is something that feels like home. I want it to be a place of comfort; I don’t want it to be a place where its sole purpose is to show off its luxuries or expense. It will be large enough to be comfortable but not excessively huge. It will have a cozy living room with a couch, a fireplace, and a tv. Nothing luxurious about it. Just a standard middle class living room. I will have a clean and cozy bedroom. Everything will be organized with a specific place. The bedding will coordinate with my walls and furniture. Nothing expensive, just comforting. I will have a basic bathroom. I will have a basic kitchen. I will have a basic yard to allow my dog (or dogs) to go outside to. I don’t have a specific location for this dream house, but probably somewhere on the North Shore; this way I don’t move too far away from where I grew up. The main thing I want from this dream house is to be comfortable and content with it.

If I had the ability to have my dream home, I think the 10 year old in me would come out and I'd have water slides everywhere! It would definitely be big and somewhere exotic, and near an ocean that's turquoise so I could overlook it whenever I'd want. And I want to be able to run outside and in the next minute, have my feet buried in warm sand. But I also want a garden and a real backyard with grass so everyone can enjoy themselves. It would be relatively modern, but I also want it to have this cozy homey feeling, and having a big family, I want them all to be comfortable and and have their own space in the house, so there would be plenty of rooms to accommodate them all. My family and I also love to host parties, so there would be big common rooms where you can have a bunch of extended family and friends come and have a get together. This next one is a bit weird but I've always wanted to have a two-way staircase because they just look so elegant. This might be my dream house, but I'd be happy in any house, regardless of how big or small. if I'm with my family.

My dream house wouldn't be big but rather a cozy home with at least 5 rooms because I was never raised in big houses with multiple rooms so I wouldn't prefer a "mansion with 40 rooms". I don't want a huge house because then I wouldn't know what to do with all that amount of space. My dream house would have an elegant living room with warm rugs and a huge fireplace for when its cold, I'd have a place to stay warm. Each bathroom would have a jacuzzi or a bath tub with two sinks and marble counters. The bedrooms in my house would have king size beds and a television in each one just incase my guests get bored. Finally, three walk-in closets for my makeup, shoes, and clothes. I wouldn't like anything extravagant but instead a space where it's comfortable to be in and for everyone to enjoy.

My dream house is a three story beach house that overlooks the ocean. On the first floor there would be three rooms, two guest rooms and one large common room. The first guest room would hold two twin beds for when my sisters come with their children. It would be painted white with yellow accents and would have beach pictures and a small T.V. There would be a bathroom that connects the first guest room with the second guest room. The rooms would be identical in design but this room would have a full bed instead of two twin beds. The common room would be a pale yellow and it would have a white couch and two swivel chairs. This would be the floor the kids would spend the most time on so we would have a large common T.V. for them to play games. The second floor would hold the living room, the kitchen, a half bathroom, and the laundry room. It would have windows all around that would look out and face the ocean and you would be able to see the sun rise. This floor would have a blue and white theme with beach pictures and shells. The top floor would hold my husband and I’s room and my children’s rooms. The theme would be the same as the second floor. The children’s rooms would have a connecting balcony and my room would have it’s own balcony facing the ocean at the back of the house. Each room would have it’s own bathroom. We would have updated technology throughout the house and speakers in each room. We would have a rooftop pool and an outdoor shower to go with it.

My dream house would be located not too far from the beach. It would have a grand staircase and 5 spacious bedrooms. There would be a front porch, beautiful gardens surrounding the house, and a big backyard. The backyard would have a swimming pool and a cozy patio. It would also have a gym and a homely library. I would not want an enormous house that would require “a phenomenal amount of energy to run,” as I am an environmentally conscious person. I would like to have solar panels and many sky lights throughout the house to brighten up the rooms. For the purpose of spending most of my money on traveling, I would rather have a relatively minimalist house that would comfortably fit 3 children.
Olivia Brooklynn (Providence)
The home of my dreams would be relatively big. I do want it to be over 1,500 square feet. I don't know if it'd be in a "bustling city" but definitely not somewhere without a lot of people. Not somewhere like New York, but maybe somewhere simliar to Providence. I don't want a mansion because I'm simply not that kind of person. There will be animals, inside and out, but it won't be in the country. I do know that "larger homes use more resources," but I don't think my house will be large enough to infringe on resources or very much space, but I do want a nice sized backyard. I doubt my home will be anywhere near the size of the "New American Home." At most, it'll be 2,500 square feet. I would never want a huge house because it'd feel to empty. However, I definitely want a house large enough to accomodate atleast two kids, nicely, and with a few extra rooms for like a game room, a play room, a book room and a homework room. Also, I love cooking so the house will have to have a nicely sized kitchen. Nothing excessive though. Relatively simple is what I'm thinking.
Fernando R. (Providence)
My dream house is a big house with at least 10 rooms, and a big backyard. On the backyard there will be a wide and long pool that has different levels of deepness. If I could I would add an indoor smaller pool or jacuzzi for when the temperature is not optimal outside. In the backyard there would also be soccer goals, basketball hoops and a volleyball net maybe even a tennis court somewhere. I would have a room with things like a ping pong table and a pool table and another room kind of like a movie room but it would also have all of my video games. Even though " The average American household shrank by 30 percent from 1948 and 2012 (article)" I love the idea of having a big house because there would be so much to do and not get bored. Also having people over would be so much fun. Big houses exist because some people don't want to settle for "a high ceiling and a roof" and this is never going to change unless some drastic laws are passed. What needs to be done is to find out more ways to make these houses more environment friendly like really encouraging these houses to add solar panels to reduce their carbon footprint.

I would like to live either on the water and near a city. I would want to be a little far from home but can still get their easily. If I live on the water, I would want to be able to look at the sunrise and sunset as a reminder that there is something beauty to come home to. My dream house would be close to others houses for bonfires at summer to build a strong bond between my fellow neighbors. As for looks, I always liked the brightly colored or pastel houses near the beach so I would want a fun color like those houses. I would prefer a bigger living space for possible roommates or more room to work. It would contain a room purely for my art and that space would be my inspiration and a happy place to relax. I would want a guest room and a party room with a large tv that has games for all to play! I want windows or a porch to look upon the water. On the porch, it will have a grill and a table (with a umbrella) to sit while eating and chatting. I would want a telescope to look at the stars. My dream house would have boats to satisfy my love of driving and being on the water. On the free days, I would want to park the boat in the water to swim or drive it, skidding across the water. I would also want to be centrally located near a convenient store and a highway to get to the city.
Rebecca (Northbrook IL)
My dream home would be elegant will wood floors, yet cozy filled with fuzzy blankets and hot coco. There will be four to five rooms plus the living room, and kitchen. The kitchen will be very roomy with white marble counters, gourmet cutting boards, a long marble island set up with those pinning high chairs. It will look like a set on a cooking show! The living room will have a gigantic flat screen, and a row of soft recliner chairs barricading the room. Outside there will be a stone patio with a grill and tables for when it's hot out. And an inground pool with a diving board, also including a trampoline! On the side of the house I would have a basketball court, for when I get bored and for exercise. And for the driveway I would want brick or tar. The front of the house will be brick and frame, almost to resemble a cottage. With it's white and light brown strapped window frames. And a huge green area to run around in, whenever you get cooped up inside.
