Can someone reveal the answer for this picture?
For this picture I really thought more about the anonymization from the past. In my interpretation I thought that people in big cities are not valued and respected that much. People often just want to achieve something in their lives and want to be happy. In this part they completely ignore the other people and they feel like they are not a part of their normal life anymore. Maybe the people on the road are trying to say that no matter how we look or how much money we have, we are still human beings and also have feelings. We are not invisible and every life matters. We should really take care of ourselves but don't forget the "others". It is okay when you can't adjust yourself ore don't fit in like the man and women on the left side of the picture with long dresses, hats and suits but you still have a heart that is there for you and not the others. Nobody wants to be hit by a car and have the feeling that his life doesn't matters as much as yours.
The class believes this is an image of either a protest for some political reason, a picture of people trying to protect them selves from pollution- similar to the Dust Bowl, or there is a parade.

This photo is most likely from the mid-1900s era. This can be determined because of the old police car, John Wayne's name featured on the sign, and the photo is black and white. There are policeman covered in some sort of plastic. Perhaps there was a large civil rights protest, and the police officers are wearing the coverings to protect themselves from their own tear gas.

to me, it seems as though some sort of blockade is taking place, as a police car is parked perpendicular to the road, and the people wearing the strange tarp-like coat seem to be wearing police hats underneath. Intially , i first see its a older photograph due to it being black and white, then think it must be raining based on the people in front for what I saw a rain poncho. We think it is from a long time ago because there are old cars. Our teacher says John Wayne was in movies her dad used to watch when he was a kid. This makes us think it happened before our teacher was born. We think the people with coverings are trying to get in the way of cars for some reason.

The police is protesting for better work conditions. They have to cope with a lot of violence in their jobs. They are treated as garbage bags, so that's why they're wearing bags over their heads. Based on the color of the picture, the cars and the clothing, we think this takes place in the 50's.

When I see this picture it makes me question why random civilians are walking around on a road where they can easily be ran over wearing what I believe is a garbage bag? With this information, you can infer that an investigation is in process while the man being accused is being held, hostage. Men in the background wearing detective like attire also lead to the idea of an investigation is in process. The most noticeable things in the picture are the officers wearing plastic. There are no regular reasons that you would go outside wearing plastic other than to hide especially if you are an officer. This proves that the officers are trying to stay incognito from the others.

I think that this picture was taken in the late 1950's and shows some people showing off a new type of water resistant suit in case of rain. it doesn't seem to be too effective because they are wearing them backwards and it is not raining.

The police are parading around the city in radiation shields and warning the civilians about radiation. Because the legs are not covered, they are susceptible to damage, one of the police officers has had to stop walking already and is sitting on the hood of the car. There aren't many cars on the road to allow for the police to spread the message.

in the early fiftys or late fortys somewhere around that time period.They are wearing something warm if its cold or maybe its going to rain but who knows other then the people that were there also the power of technology could tell us something to if we wanted more detail on the situation but alas we will never know such a thing.But i think that they are celebrating something big like a parade or the president coming to town.

In this picture, there are people strolling through what appears to be a large city because of the many people and the cars. From the image, I️ would guess that it took place a while ago because it is in black and white and the cars look old-fashioned. I️ also see that the movie is advertising the title "The Sea Chase" which was a move that was released in 1955. Because of this time era as well as the separation of the different people, I️ think this is a protest to stop segregation. I️ think the people in front are wearing tarps to cover their bodies to make the point that skin color shouldn't matter and all should be equal. I️ can also see that the white people in the background seem to be staring at the black people who are walking or gathered in groups which further leads me to believe that this is a protest.

by the looks of this photo it is based on maybe the 1950s. The men in the road with the poncho things are kinda strange im not for sure what they are doing. but the other people look like they're enjoying the town and spending time with friends.

I think its a parade in 1955 because of the movie in the background in New York City. It has a car that was made in 1900s. I see cars, people together, and also old movie theaters.

Given the classic cars, the old fashion Pepsi-Cola logo, and the photo is black and white, I would say this is a scene from the mid-1950s. The fact that these men are in the road is peculiar, I would say that they are participating in some kind of parade given all of the people on the side but not all the cars are following in line.
I think that this picture takes place during the summer of 1955 based on the fact that "The Sea Chase" came out June 4 1955. The people in the tarps seem to be police officers based on what I can see of their uniforms. It may some kind of parade in Chicago. The cars are in a line with police officers. I think it is in Chicago because in the background you can see ADmiral Television which is a company from Chicago. It is possible that they are wearing the tarp type things as protection from getting wet.

I think that this image is of police officers preventing a riot or on patrol during the release of a movie in the 1950s. I know that this in the 50s because of the car style. I can tell that the police officers are preventing a riot because they are covered in sheets that most likely used for protection. Based on the buildings this looks like it was taken in New York.

There are people walking around in what looks like plastic poncho things. I think that these people are afraid of germs and are walking around with plastic covering to shield them from the world. I think this because i recently watched the Monk episode where he wears a plastic suit to guard him from germs.

The first thing I noticed was the movie theater, it’s playing “The Sea Chase” that was made in 1955, so what we do know is that this is in the mid to late fifties. With the people in the very strange wear, it’s not as clear. This seems to be in a big city of some sort, from New York City to Chicago, to Los Angeles. There seems to be some sort of riot or mass of people behind the cars since the cars are not facing the direction of traffic and speaking of there seems to be no traffic to be seen. I’m guessing that the release of John Wayne’s latest film was such a big deal that the police force is coming out to regulate the crowd and they don’t want their uniforms to get wet thus tarnishing their clean and dry reputation.
Based on the lack of color in the photo and the cars which are present everywhere, I'm guessing that this picture was taken in the 1950's. The road is being blocked by cars, and police officers can be seen in what seems to be a protective sheath, perhaps of a water resistant quality. My guess is that some form of a parade is being held, and the police officers want to keep dry from liquid. Most of the passersby can be seen walking in the general direction of the theater, and none of them are wearing similar sheaths as the police officers are. Meaning only the police officers feel the need for protection.
I think these are police officers, based on their hats and covering, maybe they were expecting an attack of some sort from the pedestrians, like pepper spray or water. This looks like New York, based on the avenue look and big pedestrian life, since that is common in a big city. To me, it looks more like the 1930's, 40's, just based on the simplicity of the picture.

I think this is a scene from the 1950s. I say that because of the vintage cars, old Pepsi-Cola sign, the cinema that is showing an old movie and the fact that the photograph itself is black-and-white. I believe that the people underneath the plastic tarps are police officers, because I can see they are wearing police caps and black uniform pants and shoes. Maybe this is a car parade of some kind, or maybe a safety patrol. This also might be a Fourth of July parade, seeing as "The Sea Chase" came out on June 4th, 1955, and most movies stay in theaters for about a month. The plastic tarps might be part of a uniform, seeing as all the police officers are wearing them.

I think the people with a cover on them are part of a group/organization maybe. What I see that makes me say that is that there are 3 people with covers over them. It's a little bit creepy to be honest. I wonder why they are doing that. They're kind of getting the attention of the people walking by. They might be thinking that they are crazy for putting on those covers. This might've been a thing from back in the day, but, hey, are those police cars blocking the road? This is giving me new ideas, maybe they are actors of the movie that's on there on the theatre. Those are my observations.

@John nice thought, I have 2 ideas here. First one, I think the people are walking to a cult meeting and that they are trying to gain followers as they walk. Second, they are recreating Bird Box, but set in the 1950's, this time they have figured out how to see the monster and not die by where the futuristic looking poncho.

I think what is going on the picture is there are 2 people wearing what is a type of trash bag in the middle of the street, someone in a type of trash bag is sitting on top of a car in the middle of the road, it looks like someone took this picture a long time ago like in the 1940s or 1950s, there are a lot of people walking in the background, in the background there is a theatre with a time and movie starting on a billboard thing and the movie is called"The Sea Chase", and there are a lot of old kind of cars in the background around the people.

This is because I can see the American flag in the background. Similarly, the steering wheel of the car in the middle of the picture is on the correct side for driving in America. Based on the evidence, I have concluded that this picture was taken in 20th century America in a city.
In this photo, there are lots of people on a street with many buildings, some wearing poncho-looking clothing over their heads. I know this because there are many cars and people flooding the street, which could suggest that there is some type of event occurring. Likewise, there is a theater on the left of the photo, which could suggest that many people are on this street to attend a showing of the movie mentioned on the sign above the doors of the theater. The people that are wearing poncho-looking clothing could be a possible way to advertise the movie being shown at that theater. I know this because the people with the clothing are placed right in the middle of the street, near the theater, which may explain the reason of why there are many people filing into the doors of the theater, interested from the outside events to see what the film is actually about. Furthermore, this photo may have been taken around the 1950s-60s. I know this because unlike the people in the foreground of the photo, the people going into the theater and some on the right seem to be wearing dressy clothing, such as suits, fedoras, and long skirts, like many did around that time frame. Based on this evidence, many people are attending a theater to watch a new film or movie, and people are dressed similarly to the theme of the movie that is being shown, to advertise and promote it.

Due to the lack of well-developed cities during the 1950s, I conclude that the picture was taken in either Toronto, Chicago, or New York City. Lastly, I believe that there is a protest among the police officers. I believe that they are officers due to the uniforms, especially the hats, that could be seen inside the "rain jackets." Also, the road is closed off because I can see the cars parked horizontally to stop the flow of the traffic. However, the civilians seem disinterested as they are not actively looking at the protest that is happening in the middle of the street.

While the theme of protest has come up this morning, another theme I have seen is one of protection. @Jacqueline M and @Zachery. D are both suggesting that the figures have covered up to protect themselves against something, or as a way of preparing for a significant event. They have noted that the figures might be waiting for something to happen in the surrounding area. Keep these interpretations coming! I am loving the many ways that you are reading and finding meaning in this image. What more can we find?
When looking at the theater marquis the movie playing in The Sea Chase which came out in 1955. The president at this time was Eisenhower so maybe there is some sort of drill or something? Also, the looming threat of the Cold War at the time could suggest why the officers (I assume they are officers because of the silhouetted police hat shape) are wearing protective poncho hoods. My best inference would suggest some sort of mandatory nuclear drill is happening, which is probably why police cars are blocking the road.
Judging from the movie shown at the theater, the time period is 1995 and the Admiral Television Appliances store in the background suggests the location of Chicago which in 1995, Chicago was in the midst of a deadly heat wave. So i say that this has something to do with the heat wave like a celebration of it ending.
This is a very interesting picture. The first thing I noticed was the time period this picture was taken. I'm assuming it was taken anywere between the late forties and the mid fifties. Note the fashion and the cars. Particularly the people in the background, they appear to be wearing modest clothing with skirts past the knees and suits, also note the fedoras, a more popular fashion choice in that time period (Frank Sinatra). One thing I did notice was the title of the movie showing in the back, "The Sea Chase." With some research you would find that this movie was released in 1955. Another thing I noticed was that the man in the people in the ponchos appear to be police officers, just from the shape of their hats. Another thing about this picture is that it seems like the cars in the back look like they're forming some sort of blockade, this could be for any protest or event that could be going on. I'm not sure what's going on, but those are my observations.

To me, this image looks as though there is a very small protest regarding overstepping police. All the men in the bags and the man in the car seem to be wearing police uniforms and blocking the road. I think this protest is about police overstepping boundaries in their city.

Many of us have been puzzling over the detail of the “tarps” or “trash bags” or “plastic coverings” and you all have pointed out a new detail… that there seem to be rectangular creases, suggesting that they were folded at one point, and could be a portable poncho. Maybe not a makeshift covering, but something intended to pull out and wear. You also point out that it does not seem to be raining, and so you are noodling over the reason the figures might have pulled them out and put them on. What do you see that makes you say that this image might be the scene of a crime? Great work!
@VTS Moderator We thought this could be the scene of a crime because we see police where there is no other evidence of need for police. We also noticed some crowds of people in the surrounding area. Some of us even speculated that the men in police uniforms are actually robbers in disguise, including the one sitting on the hood of the car, which doesn't seem appropriate!
It appears that this photo was taken a long time ago, judging by the cars being driven, the styles of peoples' clothes, the signs in the background, etc.
There is a person walking in the street wearing something that resembles a rain poncho. There is another person wearing an identical poncho behind him sitting on the hood of a car. The odd thing about this is that it doesn't seem to be raining. They might be trying to get something across to the surrounding people, because I can't think of any other reason that these people would be walking around in ponchos on what appears to be a sunny day.
It seems like this picture, dated around 1955 due to the movie in the background, has a few people wearing trash/body bags and are protesting something. Either that or they are protective suits for insect or an unseen toxin in the air? They cars blocking the street behind them indicate that what they are doing is okay.
Due to the fact that the photograph is black and white, the style of the buildings, the clothing, and the cars, this was taken in the 1950's. The cars seem to be in a procession of some sort, like a parade, because there are people walking in the middle of road wearing strange ponchos. This could either be a political statement, or part of a parade.
Clearly, this picture takes place sometime in the early 20th century. You can tell from the model of cars, as well as the Pepsi logo in the background. This strays from the modern Pepsi logo and is actually the old Pepsi logo. The focus of the picture is the people wearing these strange tarps of some sort. It's clear at the top, meaning they use it to see as well as block stuff from the outside. This can be concluded as them blocking out water. But if you look closely, you'll find an even deeper, scarier truth. Perhaps this is an early photograph of the beginning of the KKK. You can tell from the pointed tops of their uniforms. Obviously, this design would stray away from the clear tops in the future to avoid being identified. This could be one of their early rally's, but it's hard to say since there's only three of them. The Sea Chase came out in 1955, meaning this took place sometime around then. Google claims that the KKK was formed in the late 1800s, but I believe there's a deeper truth. Perhaps these specific KKK members were actually time travelers and could go back in time to when everyone was racist in order to easily spread their beliefs. The KKK is truly terrifying. Not only are they growing in numbers, but they have even achieved the art of time travel in order to spread their propaganda throughout all timelines. Perhaps they will soon even achieve the ability of interdimensional travel, spreading their beliefs to the multiverse. This is a scary thought indeed.
@Ryan Thank you for so thoroughly sharing your thinking this morning. You are not the only commenter today to draw the connection to another type of covering- the hoods worn by members of the racist hate or terrorist group. The Klu Klux Klan costume, with hood and mask covers and conceals faces and also acts to identify those with hateful beliefs. You are really thinking about the way that the coverings in this image are pointed at the top and you are thinking very carefully about time period and time line. Although your timeline involves some magic, you point out that there is a long history and propaganda has been spread throughout that history. I agree with you that this spreading of beliefs is scary and terrifying.
Some kind of parade in the 50s or so because of the John Wayne movie theater in the background. There is also a flag waving in the background. The odd thing is that by and large the people in the background seem to be ignoring the parade/protest/whatever it is. The three main people are all wearing tarp things and also fancy pants and shoes which is odd for a parade or protest or party.
One of the first things I noticed was that the people under the bags look like police officers. They look as if they are intentionally in the middle of the street due to the fact that someone is even sitting on the car. The other people around them are dressed nicely, one man even appears to be in a tux. It looks like the movie marquee has the "The Sea Chase" posted on both the front and sides. So I would conclude that this was possibly taken on the day the movie was released and was possibly a special viewing of the movie and that the police blocked off the streets in order for the moviegoers to pass safely into the theater. As for the plastic bags, I have no idea. Maybe it was how the police officers wanted to pose? I'm not sure about that one part of the picture.
Gentlemen and ladies of the comments section. Today we find ourselves struck by the question of stating what we think is happening in this photograph. To start out let us look at the various details throughout the picture. I see old cars, an old movie board, and lots of people. I see tall buildings and what looks like an appliance store. I am willing to guess this is more of a local/downtown spot based on these features. I see three men (maybe women) walking with one of them on the hood of the car. There are cars lining hte road and two cars blocking the rest of the road. It looks like a small parade or maybe the end of one. I am unsure why the people are wearing bags. Perhaps they are solar proofing bags that help them not get sunburned as they walk for so long. These are my thoughts and intuitions based on the details I have spotted.
I think it could be a parade or movie premiere due to the fact that there is a building in the background that shows an old theatre and that there are people in suits and dressed formally. It could be a public water fight that only some are wanting to join in on.
I think that people are protesting agents something and they are wearing bags so people cant really tell who they are. I say this because people are in the road and one person is on a car where they wouldn't normal be so they must be making a point. I also see that the photo is old because of the collar and the cars and how the town and people look.

I think that it is the end of a parade because their are people walking down the street, but the crowd is walking away. there is a person sitting on the car, and the three people are dressed the same. there are also cars parked diagonally maybe to block off traffic.
Based on the marquee in the Background, it is likely the June of 1955 as that is when The Sea Chase released. It is possibly a small local parade, but there aren't any floats, nor are many paying attention. It is possibly some sort of stand for something, the men under the cloaks seem to be businessmen because of their suit pants.

In this picture it looks like they're maybe protesting something. This may be because of the bags on their heads, which may imply they don't want things to get thrown on them. They're also walking down the middle of the street surrounded by tons of people. If they were protesting something they would obviously want to do it in front of people to make a bigger point.
I believe the year is 1955 as The Sea Chase came out that year, and the cars are appropriate to the time period. Maybe it is some sort of protest, as the three figures are all in transparent cloaks. Or maybe the three people are trying to hide their identity for some reason? The road behind them seems to be blocked off for some reason so that leads me to believe it may be a parade or a protest. There also seems to be a man behind the man in the poncho to the furthest right who is seeming to be escorted away. This is a government awareness parade. I can assume this because the government officials are the ones in the parade wearing a mess bag thing. That bag could be translucent at the top because it's like them saying, "Hey, I'm actually a person." I can infer that this is a parade because there being no other cars on the road, probably due to the cars in the background stopping traffic. There is also a random dude in a tuxedo on the side, so this has to be a big enough deal that he would be there, but not big enough that it holds EVERYONE'S attention.

I think that this is a picture of some sort of parade in a city. All of the cars on the street that are turned to the side look like they are there to block the street. This also must be an English speaking country because of the movie sign. It also looks like it is in a giant city because of the size of the buildings and all of the large signs. I'm guessing it's either New York or Chicago because of the size.

My class immediately identified this image as being from the past. The evidence we used to make this claim was both the cars in the photo, and that it was in black and white. The next thing we observed was that there appeared to be police officers inside of trash bags or tarps. We noticed that they were folded in rectangles, as if they were portable rain ponchos. However, we noticed that it was not raining. We wondered if it was a parade, or a car show, or the scene of a crime or crash, and other possible stories. We noticed the movie marquis and the namers of the actors are people who would have been in that movie all those decades ago...
Like others this morning, @Emily is drawing our eye to the background and noticing that there are cars stopped, perhaps even blocking traffic. And for @Emily, while things looked stopped in the background, things in the foreground seem to be moving forward- perhaps suggesting a parade. Others have suggested this is some sort of patrol. I am loving the discussion this morning and the different ways of reading this image. So many excellent points of view. What more can we find as we look for clues in the background that inform this story?
Since the photo is a black and white format, I'd say that this is most likely the 1950s. The background looks like the area is a larger city, could possibly be New York. The men look like some type of officer because of the outfit you can see under their tarps/ponchos . Majority of people look like they're walking into the theater. It looks like it could be apart of a movie during a parade possibly?

The three guys are walking in the street for protesting of something in New York . They are angry and they covere them that to become unknown. They want to tell their ideas to government . They do with this thing to show to people something that they should know there is something wrong in society.

I think the people in the trash bag things are a part of a clan that thinks the world is going to end, and to prevent them from dying, they wear protective bags.

In this picture I see 3 people with what appears to be large bags over a good portion of their upper body. I think that the picture is conveying that some people are blind to their surroundings, they can hear but they can't see, simulating those of which aren't aware of what's really happening. Something I noticed about the people under the bags, they seem to be wearing hats, maybe those of an officer? That could be transmitting that authoritative figures are insensitive to their surroundings. These two statements are what came to mind while I was observing this photo.

In this picture I think it is from the 1950 - 60's, and is in New York. I think this picture was from a protest against the police officers in that time range. The reason I say that they are policemen is because I can see their badges underneath the tarps ( That over their heads). This could mean that people think they are not around enough when there is trouble. It is weird if the policemen do that to themselves, so I think maybe some of the other citizens dressed up as police officers and protested.

This is in chicago. I believe that it is some sort of parade ad that the people under the bags are police officers. I don't know exactly why there is a parade but that is what's happening. This photo was taken in 1955.

Looking at this picture I know this picture is in New York in 1955 (based on the movie in the background). I think it is people protesting something. But as I look closer I saw that they are wearing hats and the guy on the right has a badge and so I assume they are someone in the police force or something similar. So it might be police strolling the streets with protection gear of some sort.

The people wearing the tarp things look like they have police hats. So I'm guessing that these police people are wearing the tarp things to be hidden or hide their weapons. They are escorting the car behind them through the town to its destination because they are in a dangerous part of time, or because the guy in the car is important.
Since the picture is in black and white, and since the movie "The Sea Chase" is in the background, it is around 1955. The people are wearing hats like policemen or aircraft pilots. I don't know what the bags are about. Also, around this time period, airlines were poor business because of the poor quality of airplanes that could hold groups of people, this could be a strike from airline workers/captains. It seems to be a protest because some people are wearing a type of bag-like clothing. This might be because they are being rebellious in a way. Other people that are shown on the road are wearing fancy suits. It could also be a parade of some sort, but I'm not completely sure. I also see a movie theater and it could be a premiere that was happening in the 1900s. The picture is in black and white.

It sounds like you agree with others this morning that this is taking place in a busy city… you have looked at the tall buildings and the crowds of people. @Erica S has suggested the possibility of a large American city, or a city in the United States, like New York, Philadelphia or Chicago.
You then move to the three figures in the foreground and are particularly curious about what they have on. You are wondering if they might be wearing uniforms, and how this relates to the story here.

It is an older picture, maybe placed in New York. The main men in the picture look like police officers, there are cop cars behind them that are blocking the other lanes. The coverings over them must be to protected them from something harmful, but no one else seems to be wearing them. No one around them seem to be paying attention.
In this picture, I believe that some type of evacuation of the city is taking place. I think this because lots of people seem to be attempting to leave in or on cars. There seems to be a need for evacuation in that there is a sickness of some sort spreading since people are covering their faces.

We are on the streets of a large city perhaps around the 50's. There are people who appear to be wearing strange bag suits, however they are the only ones in the crowd doing so. I think they are perhaps protesting or performing in some act based on the fact that their portion of road appears sectioned off.

In this picture, I see three men that appear to be taking part in a protest. One of the men that is covered with some type of material is sitting on top of a car. By his body position, he looks annoyed and as if he is not going to move. There is a group of people that are entering what appears to be a cinema. Two of the other people in the background have a surprised look toward the men standing in the middle of the road. This suggests that the men are doing something untypical. The fact that they are standing in the middle of the road, suggests that they are trying to cause disruption, so that they can get the attention of the surrounding people for some specific reason. I believe that the men could be in the process of acting out a protest against a movie that could be playing inside the cinema. Perhaps, it is offensive in some sort of way. The material they are wearing on top of their body and face could be put there so that the other people in the area cannot distinguish the men's faces. Since there are only three people possibly in this protest, the men might not want to draw individual attention to themselves but towards the overall purpose of the protest. There is an American flag on one of the buildings, which suggests that this picture has taken place in America in some city, due to the large population present. The cars that are in this picture are of older models that appear to be of the 1900s, which means the 1900s could be the possible time set for the image.

I think it”s a skit of the movie “The Sea Chase.” I don’t know anything about the movie but I can tell its a protest about something related to people using radioactive weapons, they are wearing old hazmat suits as a way to show what it would be like in the future nuclear warfare.
In the picture I first see three people dressed in what looks like police uniforms, including large plastic bags or ponchos from head to knee. Two of them stand beside each other on a blocked street, while the third calmly sits on the front of a car behind them. Many other cars are parked behind them and on the right I see a man in a suit with what could be a dog, a child or a duck beside him. From research and observation it seems that ‘the sea chase’ came out in 1955, so this image should be from 1955. The man in the suit looks a bit more wealthy than the tens of citizens walking in the opposite direction and paying no attention to the fierce policemen in fashionable garbage bags. Perhaps this is a disgraceful act to the community, explaining why others refuse to look. Or perhaps these policemen are the bodyguards of the man in the suit, protecting themselves with plastic because they all happen to be allergic to the same kind of fabric. They seem to be having a good time, however. And I hope the person seated on the car got to use the bathroom.

My guess as to what is happening in this picture is that is that this is a parade in 1955 in New York City and the subjects of the picture are advertising some sort of protective gear. The movie that is showing came out in 1955. The cars are parked in a way, and the front car appears to be moving slowly so that it appears that this is a parade. The setting could really be any bigger city, but it seems most likely that it takes place in NYC.

I believe this is taking place in New York in 1955 on broadway between 44th and 45th streets. Based on the movie playing, and the Pepsi Cola building behind them. We can also infer from the model of car they are sitting on. It may be a celebration or some sort, or maybe, they are at an opening night for the movie.

It might've been a recording for a show, and they could be wearing green screens for something. They seem to be standing in such a position that they might've prepared for beforehand.

The design of this logo looks like the design from 1950s, so I can assume this is when this picture was taken. The movie on the sign in the background, "The Sea Chase," was made in 1955, so that was probably the year the picture was taken.

In this picture, I see three men walking around in plastic bags. I think that they are doing this as part of a protest. It could have to do with recycling, since plastic products such as these bags are bad for the environment, and suffocate animals (just like how they are clearly almost suffocating these people). It must be a protest because they have chosen to do it in a very public place, next to a movie theater, so that many people will see them. I noticed that since it is not only in black and white, but also since the cars are old and the movie, "The Sea Chase", came out in 1955, that this must be in the 50s.

I think this a movie in Hollywood from around 1955 because that is when the movie "The Sea Chase" came out. This is probably because they are on set of a movie and the people around them are extras. I also think it is around 1955 in Hollywood because o the types of cars and buildings that are shown.

The people covering their heads look like they are wearing ponchos of some sort, but why? Everyone else outside looks like they are enjoying their sunny day. These people look like they could be protesting the Cold War, because they are showing that they wouldn't be able to breathe if America was struck with a nuclear weapon. I can tell this because "The Sea Chase" was first shown in 1955- the middle of the Cold War- and because Admiral Television Appliances was a company found in the 1950s in Chicago.

Hooded men march down a wide four- or five-lane street. Two men wear what appears to be modern or northern kkk garb march in the fore ground, while another man rides atop the hood of a car, perhaps in New York City.
I say this is in New York because the high buildings and wide streets remind me of the City's streets.
Because the men are wearing pointed hoods that resemble KKK hoods with plastic see-thru face shields, I wondered it this were a modern, weather-proof KKK outfit, perhaps for bigots and racists in the northeastern section of the country.
I also notice a popular movie is showing. I say this because John Wayne and Lana Turner, two very popular stars, are featured on the billboard above the entrance to a movie theater. They are two popular stars, and there seems to be a long line forming for tickets, indicating there are many fans who hold these two dear.
Further, I notice that beneath the hoods, the men seem to have flat caps, like soldiers or policemen. This makes me wonder if perhaps those hooded capes are meant to protect them from rainy weather.
This picture shows three people wearing large garments over their clothes. One of them is sitting on a car and the other two are in the street. I think the people wearing the tarp-like objects are policemen, because of the outline of their hats I can see underneath their outerwear. After conducting further research I can conclude that this picture was taken sometime in 1955, because the movie listed on the movie theater came out in that year, and the type of cars shown in the picture, show me that this is not a modern street sight. The policemen are wearing tarps to protect themselves from a harmful chemical in the air and are attempting to tell citizens to stay indoors and away from the poisonous toxins, which I can infer by the policemen's outfits, and the fact that they stopped the city traffic.
