Such a tragedy.
Kirkola (FLorida)
Disgusting. Hoping Brazilians react with fury and heavy penalties on the ones responsible. Another example of how backward and chaotic the country continues to be in spite of signs of progress.

It is very sad how people in Brazil die in tragedies that could easily be avoided. As long as people are more concerned about possessing goods, than being a good person, we will see more news like this.

Such a tragedy that these youngsters perished just at the moment they were beginning to realize their dreams. It’s unconscionable that the management of the training facilities give so little consideration to the safety of their trainees, and that the govetnment itself has allowed the wonderful country of Brazil to fall into such a dangerous state.

Who was killed in this fire and as a result of the dam break? Poor Brazilians. In this case by a rich football club. In the case of the dam, by a rich mining company. Friends of the fascist president. Do we think the Bolsonistas will do anything to change this pattern? Their response will be to continue to cover for and protect their rich capitalist friends.

What a tragedy, a senseless tragedy that could have been prevented. My sympathies to the families of these precious children whose lives was cut short.
Suzzie (NOLA)
Sensless tragedies. Brazil is the canary in the coal mine. Government is not the problem (so said Reagan). Government regulations help to avoid disasters like this. If the US continues down the path of fewer regulations and unbridled capitalism, we'll also see more catastrophes.

Flamenco is not a poor club. I hope this, like the Hillborough tragedy did in England, will serve as a wake up call to the Brazilian clubs to provide adequate and safe living environments for the academy players. They deserve at least this as there are no guarantees that they will make it playing football.

Dam collapse. More 250 dead. Floods and landslides easily in cities. several died. Fire in a room where there were soccers teenagers. 10 died. All in one week. But 60 thousant a year in traffic and 60 thousand a year by guns. Brazil is doing well in the Malthus theory.
Paulo Alexandre (Sul do Brasil)
@Paulo Cesar Quines: as Professor of Geography and scholar of Malthus I have to agree; the time it took to read your post and write mine, at least 5 Brazilians were killed in a violent way. Meanwhile, on Facebook, the brazilian are concerned about ....Venezuela.
