Dr. Hu gets his inspiration through his observations. Take the fire ants for example. He noticed how they were able to move together as if they were one unit or one being. They are able to flow like some kind of liquid but are able to regenerate and retain their shape when a force is applied. This sparks many new ideas in his brain. Could this be the key to self-healing? Are ants really a solid or a liquid? Everyone knows the answer to the second question but the first question is really the most important. Just by observing an animal and developing ideas can open new doors to inventions that change the way we live. The ants’ way of movement can be analyzed and perfected, to some extent, and turned into advancements in the medical field or even just a simple children’s game. But all things in nature have deeper meanings that can change our lives forever.
