Alright, waited all morning for the story on Blasey Ford's ex-boyfriend; not a word. It's incredibly incriminating. Let's have both sides NYT. What about the "second front door," no story there either? Did you not hear about the google interns renting? No one that has been sexually assaulted would be OK with having people they do not know renting space in their home. No one. As well, her second home has no 2nd door... nor did any of the homes she previously owned. Come on! Let's see some real reporting.
First, there was a significant number of mentions of how severely intoxicated Judge Kavanaugh would get in high school and college, that he was someone who held up the wall. There was also a mention of one incident where he apparently reacted badly to another man which caused some altercation that lead to an associate being arrested. However, the idea of the rowdy, trouble-making drunk and the wall holder really don't go together.
It is repeatehe point is made that there "must have been times" when he blacked out, also emphasizing that there is a difference between blacking out and passing out. However, not once was a comment from classmates presented that saidtghey spoke with Kavanaugh a day or two after one of these binges and he told them that he didn't remember or that is was obvious from conversation that he didn't remember something that had happened at the party.
Further, the reporters never discussed if they had asked whether or not anyone knew of him actually blacking out. I would presume this would have been a fundemental question to ask in reporting this story yet there was absolutely no mention either that I was asked but received no affirmative response or that it wasn't asked.
It is this kind of work that gives people support when they cry about fake news. An organization such as the New York Times should be better than this effort. Your work is too influential to allow this type of rwporting.
If you saw his reaction to senators last week and his fatal and fake tear driven analog, it leaves ZERO desire to even consider him for such of high post.
He simple does not deserve it.
And let’s not even touch the did he or not debate
He is simply the chosen candidate because Mr. Trump needs him to bail him out when things get worse for Mr. Trump in the upcoming months with regards to Russia.
I’d like to hear more about Kavanaugh’s parents.
He was full of praise for them at the hearing, and it seemed like a nice touch to me.
But not anymore,
The evidence now plainly reveals him as a full-time lout during his school years.
Something went seriously wrong there.

My initial problem with this podcast is that Kate Kelly continuously mispronounces Renate's first name. The rhyming ditty that one boy posted on his Georgetown Prep yearbook page makes it clear that her name rhymes with "late" not "nada." So, did Ms. Kelly ever speak to anyone who knew Renate, anyone who said Renate's name in her hearing? Did she speak to Renate herself? I haven't listened to the full podcast but I'm already thinking - no she didn't.
So, is this reporting? or third-hand gossip?
This echoes one point I made in a recent comment---that both Ford and Kavanaugh could be "telling the truth." She, because the assault really happened and he, because he had no memory of it happening, due to being too drunk to remember.

I absolutely love and appreciate The Daily. It provides the most in-depth dive without the hype.

Illuminating interview. I hope everyone hears it. It's amazing. I wish there were a printout of it.
What stood out - beyond all the clearly misogynist behavior of Kavanaugh (Renate, etc., and "holding up the wall") - is that he suddenly graduated top in his class but no one thought he was smart.
Hopefully someone will look into his classwork in college - and his grades. Something is seriously up there. This is not a brilliant man and I doubt he ever was.

Why did review of a man to be presented as a future supreme court justice not discover what we hear in this video, reports from people who were his classmates?
My only answer is that the reviewers did not view the character, alcohol/drug history of a candidate as being of any importance atall.
How could that be possible?
And what is known about his present relationship to alcohol.
We have here in Sweden a parallel case that on Monday ended differently. Parallel in this way. 20 years ago a woman mistreated by Jean-Claude Arnault, a man who ran a club that received financial support from the Swedish Academy, sent a letter to the head of the Academy. That man found the letter to be of no interest. 20 years went by during which many women were mistreated by Arnault. During that period Arnault was worshipped by 3 male members of the Academy. When in 2017 18 women spoke out, the male members stood by their man, kulturprofilen.
On Monday, Arnault was sentenced to 2 years in prison for the rape of a woman in 2011. The essential parallels are that Arnault said he never had done a single one of the acts that 18 women - or more - had reported. His wife, Academy member, said the same. And his male worshippers in the Academy supported him to the end.
Whether in Sweden or the USA, men supported by other men with power can lie, lie, lie until a court of law takes them down.
But if the liar is already a judge, then what?

@Larry Lundgren I believe the FBI was tasked with conducting an inquiry, not a thorough investigation, limited to confirming or disproving Ford's allegation, not to characterizing a man's drinking or sexual assault history--though those I believe would certainly be relevant in a larger investigation. This was not to be a "fishing expedition" Kellyanne Conway said. I believe BK's own yearbook and calendar corroborate the stories of the women, but I guess the people Ford named, even one person Kavanaugh's calendar listed (not named by Ford) don't remember this evening. I am deeply saddened at the state of the nation right now and can't believe where we are.
I commend these comments by Kate & Robin but has this information been submitted to the FBI?
Am I alone, GOP, in believing that a serious liar ought not be considered for a seat on the United States of America's Supreme Court?
Am I mistaken when I recall how you placed on the bench a number of years ago a man who sexually harassed a female candidate?
Am I to be blamed when I can't help thinking about our President's lusts and arrogance and personal and private history?
Are you the Right party to be making judgments about who ought be named to the most important positions in our government?
Now we know why Russia is a dictatorship.
Could it be that is why our President wants to be buds with the leader of that dictatorship?
