AC (New York)
my personal issue with the subway (which will automatically be resolved soon) is not enough a/c (red line, local). when it gets really hot out i about have a stroke on my commute. and there are always a few cars with zero a/c. this has been consistent every summer for the past few years, it never gets fixed. they dont have a problem increasing my fares though. (not to mention all the homeless and mentally ill people on cars, at stations; some stations becoming homeless shelters after hours)

@AC, great that your personal issue, with the subway, will be resolved soon. Hope it's a good job or something that you're happy about. From the "In the News" section: “Who wrote ‘Blue Moon’? After discovering a trove of documents in an attic, this filmmaker is convinced her father wrote the standard.” Tune of “Blue Moon”    No room - The N is stranded again And we are starting to smell Like livestock packed in a pen. No room - My knees get numb while they’re knocking So those delays they are clocking Are somehow not all that shocking   I’m getting back now from my short vacation I missed my co-workers and my boss. But now while we’re stuck outside the station The fellow here next to me starts to floss   No room - Can’t even get to my phone To tell them I’m running late My E.T.A. still unknown.

Freddie, I think AC means his problem will be solved automatically when the temps cool down. I loved your song today!

@LRS, thank you! A friend reminded me that "AC" is the same screen name who tried to start a thread going to get verse removed from NY Today in April, with the post "Tell all the Poets to get their own e-paper, oy ... " in the comments under https://www.nytimes.com/2018/04/27/nyregion/new-york-today-fountains-was... I'd thought "AC" was for Air Conditioning! :)

I miss New York ! in spite of all !!!

I'm conflicted about no longer taking the NYC subway. I def do not miss the delays and being sealed inside a car like a sardine. But boy do I miss the interaction with others. Where else can you experience such sarcastic good will and shared agita? I never thought I'd miss the subway ride from Flatbush and Nostrand to lower Manhattan, but I often do.
Freddie (New York NY)
@Billy from Brooklyn, "the subway ride from Flatbush and Nostrand to lower Manhattan" That was a thrill, starting in the college-town feel after classes at Brooklyn College and going to work afterwards, stepping out of the subway (without switching trains) in the Big City, late 1970s. Many semesters, I'd have classes in the morning, subway to work 4 or 5 hours in the afternoon, then back to Brooklyn for evening classes. There were no dorms at Brooklyn College, but the area right around it still had a college feel, into the evening, maybe because the evening classes which went until after 10 pm were extremely popular.

Yeah, yeah, "fixing the subways" is a "priority" for Cuomo -right up until the day after the election, when it will be back-burnered as usual for the next few years. NO congestion pricing, b/c that would just be MORE money Cuomo will pilfer to use on something else. How much $$$ has he diverted over the years? He cannot be trusted. Cuomo has proven himself untrustworthy and is eager to give a menacingly mobster-worthy "how dare you question me?" response to questions he doesn't want to answer. He has a lot of the same personality issues that Trump has.

Why can’t we seem to FIRE this guy? Coumo is experienced, yes. Experienced in finding ways to steal money from the city and subways.
L (NYC)
@S Dee: I don't know what the deal is either, but just look at how many people voted for Cuomo in last week's primary, EVEN THOUGH his track record (pun intended) is quite evident to everyone who's been paying attention! Yes, indeed, his experience in taking money in for one item, and making it disappear to somewhere else entirely, is quite astonishing.
Freddie (New York NY)
@L, trying this thought a little less controversially than I have before! Tune of “Uptown Girl”   Uh-oh, Uh-oh, Uh-oh-oh! Uh-oh, Uh-oh, Uh-oh-oh! Upstate guy Such a shoo-in though some don’t get why We know that pretty soon he’s gonna be At the beginning of term number 3 Although we see -   That the Upstate guy Can field a question with a tough reply That makes most voters nod “Yeah sure, we guess.” But you can see these comments nonetheless Say: “What a mess!” Uh-oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh! Uh-oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh! Upstate guy, still our Upstate guy A third win, oh my! He’s our Upstate guy!
