Great article on a great actor. I would love to see her play Hamlet.

Chloe is the bees knees. NYC downtown scene is just a memory now, glad there's still links to it through talented artists like Chloe.

I Love Chloe. And I don't care who knows it.

As I read the first line, "Oh, gawd. Not another profile of Chloë Sevigny.", I could not help think, "Oh, gawd. Not another Lizzie Borden story!" Being from the Fall River area and having had a Grandmother who was acquainted with Lizzie and aware of ALL the stories, opera, plays, movies, historical accounts, B & Bs, etc., what other reaction could I possibly have! But Ms. Sevigny's project certainly seems to take on, well, another take. Intriguing. We'll see.

Oh, gawd is right. The "I Was Wrong About Chloë Sevigny" profile is just as played-out and boring as the "It Girl Chloë Sevigny" profile. You've spoken with an artist whose career has spanned nearly 30 years and chose to couch her experiences in your misconceptions. "Once media narratives are created, it is nearly impossible to rewrite them." Isn't that what good journalism attempts to do?

How in the heck does one pronounce her last name? I like her but after reading the article I think she may be going in the wrong direction. Elizabeth Montgomery played Borden on TV to get a new image but it didn't register that loud. I wish Cloe the best and hope she gets the part that elevates her career.

Too bad the author of this article didn't mention her performance in the deserving but little-seen "Lean on Pete". She took what could have been a minor and forgettable role and made it part of the heart of the movie. Also disappeared into the role so much that I didn't recognize it was her til the credits. Not many actors can do that.

At long last, someone will do right by Lizzie Borden.
As a Fall River native, I cringe when I see Hollywood trying to tackle the subject yet again. This is not a ghost story. Lizzie is not a monster.
The story of Lizzie Borden is a simple frameup by the powers that be (at the time) ... all of which were wealthy men. Everyone in Fall River knows this. None of us ever considered this otherwise.
Glad to see Ms. Sevigny (who I believe is from Conn., which is close by -- NOT California, maybe that's why she gets it) is treating this woman with the respect she deserves. Lizzie was indeed a feminist. She was later shunned by society and turned that anger into good by leaving her estate not to cruel humans who cast her out of society after being acquitted, but to innocent animals, who, like women, were considered items to be disposed of in the day. Lizzie deserves respect. Her real story needs to be told. Thank You Ms. Sevigny. The city of Fall River thanks you.

@Jax my grandmother was acquainted with her and always referred to her as a sweet woman. Lizzie. her surroundings and her circumstances provided the perfect setting, I'm afraid, for all this intrigue that will, apparently, continue to outlast her long-ago death.

Sorry, Mr. Barnes, but there are many of us who do not pay attention to who is "cool" in Manhattan and who are familiar with Ms Sevigny only thru her quirky captivating performances. Indeed, we were not even aware that some of you knew her for being "cool" rather than for being an actor whose performances we like in films and tv shows we also like.
NYT reviewers need to be more aware of its readers who are completely uninterested in the Manhattan "cool" scene.

Not just Manhattan cool scene. Chloe's reputation precedes her. Anyone with any film familiarity of a certain age is aware of this. The author is correct to discuss.

@Benjamin ben-baruch '90s nostalgia is a double-edged Nintendo Power Glove.

Her PR guy definitely has a friend at the Times. She gets more coverage than the entire country of Bangladesh.
Really now, who cares what actors think?
