Maria Macias (San leandro)
When I saw this picture was that the students seem to be celebrating something that they all achieved. Such as a graduation or they were helping some sort of organization and the students finally reached their goal. I thought this because of the expressions on all of their faces. The students look like they’re very hyped up and just excited in general.
Andrea zuniga (San leandro)
In this picture i see a bunch of people screaming and celebrating maybe their school sports team won a championship or their favorite sports team won a very important game or they could also be protesting , i say this because somthing some have their tongue out and some have their eyes wide open , they are also holding some type of stick thing which i dont know what its used for maybe to make noise , some more things i see is they are all wearing a certain uniform which has some school name that i cant read its in a diffrent language so im guessing now that its a cultural dance or chant.
Juliann Kalama (San Leandro,CA)
In the picture there Is a bunch of students, maybe private school students because there in uniforms. It looks like they are screaming/shouting out of anger maybe.I see there mouths open, also there eyes are very big and there holding spear looking sticks.More I can find about this picture Is most of them have their tongues out ,which probably indicates anger also.
spirit stone (Detroit ,MI)
The picture to me is showing how people from New Zealand are representing their culture . It's amazing that the students are taking interest and really learning about their culture as well as putting effort into learning their native language . In this day in age many cultures sometimes find themselves losing there importance which I think is really sad . So to see these students really putting there all into celebrating and embraces who they are is a wonderful sight.
L & O (Australia)
We infer that these people are celebrating there culture (New Zealand)! Because I’ve seen New Zealanders play rugby and they stick there tongue out and that was what the boy was doing (that’s there culture).
Just Gerard (H)
I think they just got out of something exciting or protesting
Calub.R (sphs)
my guess is that these people just graduated and they are trying to celebrate. because they are happy and are exited. and because now they get to go to collage.
Keilan (SPHS)
I infer that these students are crazy, wild, and exited because that Donald Trump has been elected as President
Vince (sphs)
I infer that these people are fight for their rights, freedom, and everything that they want/need. Or maybe they're protesting at school because of the killer thingy happened. Or not to have the teachers to have guns to protect their students from killer.
Christian (sphs)
I infer that these people are doing something either religious or tradition to their country
laurence (stphs )
I infer that from theses facial expression that they are doing something religious or something to do with a school
kode (SPHS)
what i see going on in the picture is teens from a private school protesting or cheering about something outside they are holding sticks up in the air just a bunch of nerds
ashton (texas)
i infer that these people are getting crazy for something that their doing for the school.
Oakley Wells (Phoenix, Arizona)
A bunch of people seem to be revolting over something.
Ava (Phoenix)
From what I have seen in the past, these facial expressions look similar to the expressions made in tribal dances performed by indigenous New Zealanders.
Alana H (Old Forge, NY)
Embroidered onto the blazers, the words "TE KURA KAUPAPA MAORI O NGA MOKOPUNA" are written, which translates to "recognition of the schools" which leads me to believe that these are a group of students. I also noticed that this picture could have taken of Polynesians, based on their facial structures, and because the writing on the blazer seems to be in a Polynesian language. I think this is possibly a celebration or a festival. Possibly it is the last day of school for these students.
Porter K (Old Forge N.Y)
In this picture, I think these college kids are doing something that the college always does like a ritual. I think this because why else would a bunch of kids be standing outside with long sticks and plants. I can see that most of the kids are acting like they are mad, and some of them have sticks and some of them have plants.
Jared Kane (Old Forge, Ny)
I agree, I also thought this group of people has come from a college or some sort of campus that are maybe protesting or doing a ritual.
Hannah D. (Fort Dodge, Iowa)
I think they are protesting!
Christian (Rm 237)
I think in this picture some college students just graduated. Instead of throwing the hats up in the air, like we do in the USA, they party with a wood stick. There is also 3 black stripes which could repesent a teacher or fresh man there is also a blue plastic stick with a feather on top and some white and blue tapes on it.
Aliscia Armandia H (Fort Dodge Iowa )
they are either protesting something or they are doing some kind of religon or tribe chant or just cheering for somethig
Simeon (providence RI)

A group of people acting stupid. looks like they're dressed up for a carnival or something. they are all holding staffs. they are all dressed up and making odd faces. or they could be waiting for the season 5 battle pass
Quentin Fullen (02908)

Melvin Herrera (Chiraq)

sneakerhead G (providence)
what i see going on in the picture is teens from a private school protesting or cheering about something outside they are holding sticks up in the air
Midnight Villanueva (Taco bell)
I think there waiting for Taco Bell to open
Blake C. (Providence RI)
Or a truck came with Big Mac's to supply McDonalds
Maxxi (Goochland)
Students are rallying or prepping for a game. Their facial expression make it seem like they are ecstatic about something.
Alana H (Old Forge, NY)
I like your idea that it could be a sort of pep rally. I do agree that their expressions make it seem as if they were excited about something.
Maria Lutz (New York )
in this picture the people are chanting. It looks like a celebration of a certain culture. They seem very excited about something. They could possibly be protesting or dancing. They look very happy and focused on something behind the camera. This could also be a college or highschool event for a sport.
Ms. Dierkens (Westminster CO)
Ms. Dierkens class believes that this is a group of college students having a celebration of some sort. We came to this by looking at their expressions on their faces, they were holding sticks/poles, they look young and they were wearing matching outfits.
Jon Astor (ford dodge Iowa )
people are training in a class
Pebbles (Seoul)
I think they might be a cheering squad for a sports team. They look happy but focused on something behind the camera. I think the polls and leaves might be part of a cheering ritual.
shamus crawford (toronto canada)
I think they're a cult casting a spell. For one they appear to be sticking out their tongue's and have staffs. Another reason why I think they are performing a ritual is that they have suits that could be part of the ceremony. I also see some evidence that wouldn't be consistent with a cult mainly the logo on their jackets. I don't know many cults that advertise their existence.
Givemecookiesplz (dank memes)
It looks like a school where the students have just graduated and are having a bit of fun
Meme Queen (London)
I think these students are watching a sport and cheering for their team because they're wearing their uniforms and appear to be excited. They also have poles and leaves and maybe they're props for their school.
reggie (toronto)
I think that these students are going on strike. I think it started because teachers were on strike and the students are starting to get mad because they are paying the tuition fee of the semester and their teachers have been on strike for a couple of weeks, months even. I think they are students because of the uniform they are wearing and there are people who have red shirts on,and they are probably a leader of a group.
Hockey123 (Toronto )
I think it is a school protest because they all look angry and they have their tongues sticking out. I also notice they are holding large poles. Additionally they are all wearing two similar outfits. It also looks like they are standing in front of a information building. I am wondering why only a few of them are holding leaves.
Ted Johnson (Chicago)
Their protruding tongues seem to have something to do with it, but what, I can't say.
Division 15 (Kamloops, BC Canada)
We see some teenagers - maybe grade 11 or 12. We zoomed in on the badge on their uniforms and we Google searched the name that is on the badge. We found a school website that matches and we used Google translate to read the site. We think these people are students from the school. They are Maori people from New Zealand - we could tell from the country code on the school's website. Based on the age of the students, we think this might be some kind of Maori graduation ceremony. They might be doing a dance to celebrate.
Laura B (Old Forge, New York)
In this picture, there are many people. Many of these people are teens or young adults. Most of them are holding long colorful sticks and making faces. I think this picture is about Harry Potter because there are teens dressed in formal uniforms like in Harry Potter books and movies. All the people look to be on a college campus going to something. When I look at this picture it makes me feel like these people are very passionate about whatever they are doing.
Hockey123 (Toronto )
Interesting comment they do look like they are dressed like Harry Potter. If that was the case i wonder why they are holding those large poles.
Brandon (Illinois)
I think in the picture there are crazy people that just graduated and are going to destroy the world. And It also looks like that they are going to go to prison or they are going to have a purge. I also think that they are in Washington D.C. and they are going to talk to the president to make thing’s fair.
Andrea Roundfield (PAVE Academy Red Hook 6B)
Ammar: Harry Potter fans at a show or parade. Judah: Students in an academy in Mexico they appear Hispanic. They all have a uniform, therefore a possible graduation. Juliana: Students from maybe Germany, protesting
Adryan Benning (FD, Iowa)
Just stating, "It's clearly not in America. The two people that are wearing uniforms have a small badge or sign on them that clearly speak it's a different language because most of those people look like some sort of Hispanic or something like that. I speak English and that badge/sign clearly says otherwise. They are clearly celebrating something for festive/school reasons maybe even tribal reasons. It's also confirmed that it is in New Zealand and it is also a educational institute of some sort. They are celebrating a festive or tribal reason is my final answer.
Adryan Benning (FD, Iowa)
Forgot it also has to do with a school or educational institute.

kyler crouse (fort dodge)
they all just got accepted into hogwarts
Triton Tracy (Fort Dodge, IA)
I think it is a very happy time for all of the people there, (probably them finishing college...?) and they all look overexcited to see/hear/find something that made them this way. Also, I found out that not everyone is actually screaming, it's more of just the front few people.

bobby jon Jon (1604 5th avenue north fort dodge iowa )
looks like there supporting an indian tribe or protesting for one or doing one of there rituals
RuthBKS (Connecticut)
I think that a private school in England are cheering for something or maybe someone? I can tell this because of the uniform and the setting they are in. Also if you look close you can tell that they are making weird faces as though there is some sort of battle.
andrew h (connecticut)
I think that they are at a school pep rally in some english country for an important game
EHallock (Harrisburg, PA)

Cheyenne M (PHS 6)
From the looks of this picture it appears that there are countless of private school students that are getting prepared for some kind of war. By the looks on their faces it seems as if the students are really competitive getting prepared for a ritual.
Sarah B (Old Forge N.Y)
Hmm, I’m actually finding myself to come up with a lot of ideas regarding this picture but it just tends to confuzzle my brain with the actual concept of which is going on. This picture was most definitely taken in a different country because on the jackets within the emblem, the words are written in a different language. The people are wearing some sort of uniform, some are only wearing a red button down and the others are wearing a blue tie and sweater vest with a white button down and a black jacket with some circle emblem on it. Both the boys and the girls are wearing these two outfits so there is no gender differentiation. Can the outfit represent two different sides or teams? This has to be a big gamer or reenactment of some sort. It seems like it could be a school event or organization. Or it could also go in the whole other direction of a game and really be a huge political scheme. They are carrying what seems to look like makeshift weapons fake or real, I am unaware while others are carrying plants. They all seem to have a crazy, funny, or confused emotion plastered upon their faces which really creates this picture to be interesting.
Ziggy Stardust (Anatolia College Macedonia Greece)
This is an energetic haka powhiri, a chant and dance of welcome of the Maori. We can see mostly high schools or college students wearing the same uniform. They are fighting to preserve their native language of Maori and have it recognized as an official language of New Zealand.
Lyla B (Connecticut)
I agree
Autumn Scheitlin (Port Orchard, WA)
In this photo, a group of young people, possibly high school or college students, seem to be at a pep rally or parade. They all sport uniforms and where crazy expressions on their faces. Some are holding long poles and others are holding plants. Everyone seems to be super excited and they look like they’re having a lot of fun.
Emmalie F (Port Orchard WA)
1) What is going on in this picture? They look to be High-School students that go to the same school because of their uniforms, and it looks like they are be protesting because they are in a large crowd of people. They are holding things that look like hairy axes. The buildings behind them look older. 2) What do you see that makes you say that? It looks like they are be protesting because their eyes are bulging out of their head and they all have their tongues out and because they are in a large crowd outside. 3) What more can you find? One of the girls in front is holding plants in each hand and there is a pin on their jackets.
Amanda Cortes (Ca)
In this picture, it looks like there are students practicing some sort of ritual. I think that these students attend a private school. I think that they are practicing a ritual and they attend a private school because the people in this picture have sticks with special designs and they have uniforms on.
Xander A. (Port Orchard Washington )
What i think is going on is they are doing a harry potter cosplay that or they are celebrating a graduation of some sort. all there uniforms and the staffs and their eyes and tongues out.I cant find anything else
Abbey H (Port Orchard WA)
1) What is going on in this picture? A group of kids and young adults are standing in a crowd which looks similar to some sort of protest. However, their faces portray that this photo was definitely planned and produced for a reason. ********************************************************* 2) What do you see that makes you say that? The emotions and expressions portrayed on their faces, is not something that is natural or “normal”. They were probably told or chose to have very dramatic faces and expressions. ********************************************************* 3) What more can you find? I found that the group is also holding onto some sort of sticks and are wearing similar uniforms within the picture.
Ashton K (Port Orchard WA)
A mad mob of kids that live in Frankfurt are protesting against the mandatory educational system at their local private school. Their faces show pride, passion and determination for what they are fighting for and they are not afraid to back down. Surely these kids are going somewhere in life.
Anna H (Port Orchard WA)
it looks like a harry potter reenactment
Sarah B (Port Orchard WA)
Looks like it could be a school protest. They are in high school or college uniforms and they are holding staffs. There are both boys and girls. A girl is holding leaves. They are not in America.
Shawn L (Port Orchard WA)
i think these students are in a doing some sort of club, play or possibly a protest i see that they have these spear type lookin weapon, they have this war face that they are doing , and it seems like everyone is screaming.
Elijah C (Port Orchard WA)
I see students preforming.Well they are all screaming and wide eyed with their tongues out so I assume that they are New Zealand or Hawaiian students that are doing the hakka warrior dance.I couldn’t really find any further information but I think I’m close to what it is.
Kaitlyn D (Port Orchard WA)
1) I believe that this has something to do with Harry Potter. I don’t know much about the movies or books but I know that they wear clothes like that. They seem to be excited or very happy about something so I don’t think it is a protest of any kind. 2) There is some sort of school behind them that almost has a castle look to it like the one in Harry Potter. Also, they are smiling and their mouths are open very wide so they are probably shouting something. 3) The girl all the way to the right is holding some kind of plant. I’m not exactly sure what it is though.
Destiny V (Port Orchard, WA)
There are lots of people making weird faces and holding sticks. They look to be of college age from somewhere in Europe and from two different schools competing in a sport. There is a couple of buildings in the background.
Emily I. (Port Orchard WA)
*What is going on in this picture? I believe that this picture was taken on a pacific island at a private school, and they are preparing to preform haka, which is a tradition shared amongst pacific islanders before a big event, such as a war or sporting event. *What do you see that makes you say that? I see a large amount of students who are holding traditional sticks that may be used for haka, and their facial features are similar to those used during haka. I believe that it is on a pacific island due to the skin tone of the majority of students, and by the fact that haka is not traditionally preformed on the mainland. I know that they are preforming haka, because my dad and i have seen haka and he said he learned about it while growing up in Hawaii. *What more can you find? I was not able to find any additional information.
Savanna S. (Port Orchard WA)
I think that this is some sort of reenactment event. There may be different levels against each other. The people with the green on are holding a blue stick and the ones in red are holding a brown stick. Plus one person in green is holding a plant… My final answer is that they are probably redoing a scene from Avatar: The Last Airbender.
wei (NY)
it happen in Christchurch in Newzland,
connor t (port orchard 98366)
this looks like they are at college and they won a game of some kind because there is a stadium in the background and there is a nice building in the background.
Mia C (Port Orchard)
it looks like they are doing the haka dance
Cheyenne M (PHS 6)
I agree but they all also might be preparing for war.
gia t. (somewhere in port orchard)
lol Mia. the guy on the left has an unusually long tongue
Candice H (Port Orchard WA)
It looks as though it’s some form of a rally for a school. They have their school clothes on and they are in a big group with decorated sticks and crazy faces. Possibly a pep-rally.
Hazel VD (Maine)
I think that these people are protesting something. They could be from a high school or college, because they are wearing uniforms. I think they might be brandishing some sort of item with some cultural importance or significance to their protest. Many of them are wearing a badge that says "TE KURA KAUPAPA MAOVH NGA MOKOPU... WHARE KURA" or something like that. Also, the woman on the right is holding two different plants in each hand.
Adryan Benning (FD, Iowa)
I said sort of the same thing! Thumbs up for reading the badge thing...
Caleb (USA)
School protest, school, behind them and on there jackets thats not from america, zoom in on the woman holding the plant that probably is something that might rhime's with "need" and its an school logo most likely an privet school uniforms dressed up like harry potter and 9 foot wands yelling and saying weird spells gtfdudigibunjycudivolofaxds witch means "Go away and in an whole voldimore!" fire in the back left I presume it is the end of the year of coledge maybe an party?
Juliette (Maine)
It looks like a bunch of high school students cosplaying a scene from history. They are in New Zealand from the emblem on their jackets. Maybe they are having a school protest. Some of the sticks look like decorated broom handles.
Griffin Dubrow (Belfast )
They look to be High-School students that go to the same school because of their uniforms, and it looks as if they might be protesting rudely because their eyes are bulging out of their head and they all have their tongues .They are holding things that look like hairy axes. They are in a city but the building looks old.
Juliette (Maine)
Its a scene from Fairy Tail where all the guild members are rushing outside to help their fellow guildmates and yelling a war cry. They are all using sticks probably because they are in Edolas and there is no magic.
Liam Fensie (Maine)
I'm not completely sure what they are doing, but it seems that they are holding up gigantic Ticonderoga number two pencils, and some of them are doing crazy things like sticking their tongues way out. Mostly they just look crazy and ready for war. Though at first glance it looked like Hogwarts. Seriously.
Ranger (USA)
I think this might be some sort of college event, because there are only a few different uniforms in the crowd. Plus, the people seem to be in their early 20s. I think the event might have something to do with plants, because the woman on the right has some sort of plant in her hand. In addition, the large poles that some of the people are holding have things on the top that look like mini palms.
Kevin Penate (phs)
It looks like is a bunch of students/protesters that are speaking there mind about sticks
Rebacca L (Port Orchard)
I think what is happening is a private school is re-enacting a battle.
CadiaL (Port Orchard )
I believe that this is a picture of people dressed in Harry Potter quidedge uniforms and they’re really excited for it. I believe this because they’re uniforms look like the outfits that are worn in that movie series and they have long volts in their hands.
Bryanna C. (Port Orchard, Wa)
It looks like some company or private school is having some march or festival for something. They are all dressed in the same clothes and they are either really happy or crazy. They are also outside a building possibly in a area they use to gather as a group.
Anthony P (Port Orchard)
20. People are having fun with Indian poles and their yelling. It makes me say that because they have poles in their hands and they look like their having fun. They are at in a city by a museum or a church.
Jake duck (cuba )
The village is getting attacked by local thugs so the town scholars being only people left make last ditch effort to save village They all have weapons to threaten the thugs.
Ana (palmdale)
They seem to protest on something they don't accept. It looks like they are in the same school or program.
Karley W (Port Orchard)
A group of people are wearing formal clothing while making weird faces. They look like they could be college students of young adults. The majority of the group have colored sticks in the air. I can’t find any more information other than that.
Ashley (palmdale )
I think that they're students who are fed up and are protesting.
Kiara V (Port Orchard WA)
In this photo the students are doing a New Zealand dance called the haka.
Alex T (Port Orchard, WA)
In this photo there is a gathering of a group that looks to be in a European area. They are looking like they are going to war or maybe starting a game of some kind and they are looking at the opposing team which we cannot see in the photo. I think this because they are all dressed as if they are a part of some kind of club or team and they look like they are having fun, so it must be a game of some kind. The more I can find is that there are select few that are wearing specific outfits that have a kind of emblem on it which leads me to believe that they would be the leaders of the team.
Kaili Arruda (Port Orchard Washington)
The photo captures numerous students ready for a change. Their facial expressions demonstrate their attitude, with their wide-opened eyes, yelling with mouths open, and their tongue out of their mouths. These students are most likely from a private school of some sort due to the uniforms they are wearing. They are standing up for something they believe in and ready for a change.
Benen S. (Port Orchard, WA)
It looks like these people are from some sort of group, but it doesn’t look like it would really be in the US. They have big poles in their hands and are making some weird faces. They could be doing something with those poles like jousting. I also see them either wearing a red dress shirt or a blazer with a sweater underneath so it could be two schools or clubs fighting for something. It looks like they are in the middle of the city, which is weird because they have a lot of people and they probably don’t have enough room.
Henrik P. (Port Orchard, WA)
It looks like there are people going crazy over something although they could be actors for a new movie. I see them making weird faces with their tongues sticking out. They are also holding poles.
Angeline (Palmdale)
looks like a group of students protesting something or watching something as they chant their butts off.
Lil Sassy (California )
I see it has there is a large group of kids that seem to be protesting they see as a educational or school problem. They want to make a public statement where they can be heard by anyone that will listen and see where they coming from. The teens seem to attend a private school by the uniforms they wear and a logo that is on there school jackets.
gia is the goat (somewhere in port orchard, not that i want to be)
These student are clearly from Hogwarts, branding over sized wands and very enthusiastic about going to war against the death eaters. And that is Neville Longbottom, along with Seamus Finnigan.
Caleb (USA)
I agree
dorian ramos (the crib)
a bunch of crazy kids yelling at someone or something
Connor (I don't know)
I'm thinking students chanting or screaming in there northern direction holding spears or weapon of some sort.
Alyssa M (Port Orchard WA)
Have no idea what this but what it looks like is a crowd of students yelling and holding sticks in the air for some reason. Maybe there protesting, or doing a reunion or a festival because there’s tons of people and it seems like there yelling or its some type of tribal thing because again by the way of their facial expressions.
Jason Zelaya (Palmdale CA)
seems like a bunch of students who are excited
Analysse P (Port Orchard WA)
There is a crowd of students outside of a school shouting and holding poles. It looks like they may be doing some sort of traditional celebration because their faces make it seem like they’re having fun and they are holding the poles in the air.
Teage A (Port Orchard WA)
This looks like a lot of excited people at a rally or war of some sort. This looks like a group of frat students from a college. They’re ready for impact.
Chris S (WA)
its a screaming compendition at a university
Alex L. (Port Orchard WA)
I think what's happening is that students in New Zealand are performing a native chant together. The patches on their clothing says "Kura Kaupapa Māori" which is a language immersion school in New Zealand that celebrates the Māori culture and tradition. This might be an occasion to celebrate or embrace culture. The plants and poles they are holding are a clue to the native tradition and the faces these people are making with wide eyes, open mouths and tongues out. The picture just has a feeling of unity even though we may not understand this culture.
Taleah I (Port Orchard WA)
It looks like there is a group of foreign students that all came together for a competition or something like that making funny faces at the camera. What I see that makes me say that is because they are all somewhat dressed formal some are wearing the same outfit others aren’t. Also they all look like they are from different places of the world. What more I could find was they there are all carrying poles in their hands.
leniya (palmdale ca)
A bunch of young people are protesting or something. Im confused on what exactly this is because of the facial expressions but this has to be some sort of school activity
Dumbledore (Port Orchard WA.)
The haka. But i thought it wasn a bunch of harry potter cosplayers.
Nikki Jarred (port orchard, WA)
they are students in new Zealand who are going to war against another school
Joephery R (Port Orchard, WA)
*lets do one with silly faces"
Joshua A (Port Orchard WA)
What I believe is going on in this photo is a pep rally of some sort for a frat and a sorority I see a bunch of people with sticks in the air and the look of triumph on their face I can find that some people are wearing blue and red shirts and there is both male and female.
Lotty S (Port Orchard WA)
i think they are at some sort of march or festival, and i also notice they they all are pretty young looking. they are all making two different facial expressions. also wearing tow different clothing outfits.
Isabella G (Port Orchard WA)
In the picture it looks like student part of some private school. To me it looks like they’re doing the haka, the students look like they are singing some type of song. I think they’re going the haka because their faces are aggressive looking and if you’ve watched or seen videos of this dance they try to intimidate their opponent with their facial expression and movements.
Beni Class (Glendale Heights IL)
Some of us think this takes place at a school, and some of us do not. We think that this might be held at a prison because of the type of structure in the background on the left side. The long poles might be used to represent an agreement or disagreement. As an alternative they could be involved in a ceremonial dance. One idea for why the kids have their tongues out is because they have childish behavior. A different idea for the tongues would be they're part of a ritual dance. One of us has visited New Zealand and thinks this may be a school filled with Maori children.
JAR (Crooms AoIT)
te kura kaupapa māori o ruamata, a school in Tikitere, New Zealand. They are students do a tradition from their school which are the Maori games.
Amanda H (New York )
When I looked at this my first thought was college guys petitioning something. When I looked more at it I saw what looks like college guys and some girls in the group. The jackets they are wearing looks like they could be from some school or academic extra-curricular activity. They are all holding sticks that almost at the top have some kind of feather. They all look like they are having fun, either screaming or sticking their tongues out. The building in the back looks like one building connected together which makes me think this is a campus.
Dawson D (Old Forge Ny)
Students in New Zealand take a picture making funny faces and holding props. The writing on their blazers is Maori, the final two words translate to "School Building". Maori is mostly spoken in northern New Zealand.
Grimbly Pimbleduff (The Moon)
This is a scene from the live action Naruto, this is the tribe of the town hidden in the sound, they are currently casting a spell using the sticks to channel there chakra, I believe this is the scene right before Naruto uses his replacement jutso to replace himself with the plant, I am a big fan of Naruto and I am glad that somebody over at the New York Times, picked up this gem of a movie.
Jared Kane (Old Forge, Ny)
After looking at this image I can see a large group maybe hundreds of young adults or teenagers that seem to be in a yelling and mad for some reason. These people look to be students at a campus maybe a college or high school. I think these students are protesting for something they want the school to stop or do. The school may have done something wrong and the students want them to stop, it could have something to do with the walkouts for school shooting because that is a large topic in schools today. I believe this because the people are dressed to go to school and some are in matching coats. They have their mouths opened wide like they are yelling and they have long wooden sticks they are throwing in the air. Another thing that I noticed in this image is the two students on the right are wearing matching blue coats with a patch on it. The patch is yellow and blue with lettering on it, the lettering is too small to read. I think that they could be part of a group or club that are protesting for something.
Bryan Ripoll (32701)
They're probably at a rally because of how pumped up they look.
Brice Smith (Florida)
Someone playing a game, or a protest. People have different colored sticks in there hand and they look angry, They seem to be wearing a school uniform so its a school activity.
leniya (palmdale ca)
@Brice , i agree. im just confused on what tis actually is becasue some kids looks angry and some have silly faces
Ryan (Tech school somewhere in florida)
This is clearly a scene from Harry Potter. Hogwarts seems to be pretty light out right now, so a light spell might have been cast. This might be a prank invasion from the rival school, and the prank they are doing might have something to do with the magic plant in the fine young lady's hand. Perhaps they are making an illusion potion? Perhaps they are planting the plant to start an infestation of Tretants.
Eyad (Crooms)
These group of fellers just watched Avengers: Infinity War and are expressing their reactions to the film
Sean Grubbs (Crooms AOIT)
They are celebrating something i can tell b/c they look happy they are holding what looks like telephone poles
Ethan Ehrensbeck (Old Forge NY)
I think this is a photograph of a celebration or ceremony at a school in New Zealand or the Pacific Islands. The reason I say this is because of the race of the people, the ferocity on their faces, and the style of the buildings.
Adryan Benning (FD, Iowa)
Also look at the badge on the guy in the front and look it up on google. You need to zoom in to do so. And yes i am 99% sure that they are in New Zealand. Up vote for you sir.
kameron (999)
its people rallying for some reason
Ashton Bennett (florida)
because they are getting ready for a rally or somthing
Unknown (Anonymous)
• What is going on in this picture? People are angry at something, or wanna kill something/someone. • What do you see that makes you say that? Everyone's reactions, they all seem "unstable". • What more can you find? They are wearing similar clothes so I am guessing this is a school and something has occurred which made all the students group together against something.
Bradley H (Djibouti)
They realized that in this reality, communism wins.
Kathryn K (Old Forge)
Communism has never won in any reality... ever.
Gabriel T (.)
It looks like they are chanting something for a school for college. They are all holding up sticks and have very active expressions on their faces. Some of the sticks that they are holding up have feathery things on them.
JOP (crumbs)
It's just a bunch of fellas doing the Haka. No biggie.
ayanna l. (sanford)
I think that the group of people are chanting or included in a rally of some sort. They look like they are part of a team.
Brody (Florida)
It's a group of New Zealand students performing a 'haka powhiri', a traditional chant/dance to celebrate a reenactment of explorer Kupe's voyage to the island.
Jacob Taylor (Goochland highschool)
It looks like they are charging into battle. They are weilding lances and crazy faces. They also do not look afraid, but they look exited.
Alyssa Barger (Goochland, Virginia)
It seems as if a private school is having some sort of celebration. They aren't angry or sad, so I don't think it is a rally or protest.
Caroline Webb (Goochland, VA)
This is some sort of event involving traditional maori tribe culture because they are holding the traditional staffs and the labels on their uniforms are in maori. Also, you can tell by the looks on their faces which seem similar to traditional maori masks.
Carter Dowdy (Goochland )
It appears to me that they are college aged students possibly rioting. They might also be doing a walk out. It is most likely a private school. The uniforms they are wearing hints at that.
Katharine Wright (richmond va )
This looks Like a traditional dance that they preform at Rugby games as an intimidation tactic as well as a tradition.
lily db (goochland )
It kind of looks like a rally or a protest. They are all making weird faces, and one girl in the front id holding plants. The people in blue are holding blue sticks and the ones in red also have brown sticks. The blue sticks have feathers on the end. It looks kind of like a school in the background, and it seems like this is not in the United States.
Gabrielle Ragone (Goochland)
This picture looks possibly like a private school in Europe and it is a pep rally or a game and they are rooting for their team.
Taylor M (Virginia)
It looks like a bunch of student from the same school protesting for a class.
jane (virginia )
private school students rebelling against their mean principal
Jasmine J. (GHS)
I feel like the children are protesting because they are holding sticks, the school background, and the school uniforms. I also, say that because of the way it looks like they're yelling. They may also be making funny faces because of the way their looking. It looks like some people are sticking their tongues out or ugly faces. They could also be having a celebration because some people look dressed up and it could maybe be a fight. I found their school logo on their uniform and they could be mimicking their mascot.
Unknown (Anonymous)
Wow, great response, I totally agree! It's so cool that you found their school logo!
Adryan Benning (FD, Iowa)
Umm So did i? And i don't know why so many people who are readers picks are just saying things about Hogwarts or Fortnite... And most of them are just saying things like "they are holding poles, they are at a school, they are angry, they are wearing school uniforms" and so on... Isn't the idea of this to NAME the tradition/act that is going on, where it is and why they are doing it?
Lucas Edwards (Goochland Virginia)
I see college students going on a riot or a community walk. They are in a big group and I see that they are having fun. I see that they are holding poles that might represent pencils and mechanical pencils.
skylar d (goochland va )
It looks like a crowd of students excited for something maybe a fun school gathering or for a religious purpose.
Valyn Grebe (Virginia)
In this picture, there are many students and they looked excited. They could be joining in some religious/tribal practice. I believe this because of the staffs and their facial expressions.
Adryan Benning (FD, Iowa)
And badge on front guy to... Forgot that.
charlie flammia (Virginia )
A school is having a celebration or a walkout. It looks like they are imitating a Indian group. The way their faces are looking and what there holding. None of them look american so to me i think they are in south america
Gabrielle Ragone (Goochland)
I believe this is a picture taken in Hawaii. A private school in Hawaii to be more exact because of the background and the schools. Also a Hawaii thing is their natives and this could be a native dance or something like that. They are also holding poles which could resemble a sports game or something going on and they could be making the face of their mascot.
Ayden Doczi (Goochland County High School )
It is a school that is doing a reenactment of a ritual or a prep rally for a rugby match. The school could be from Hawaii because before every college football game the players do a ritualistic dance to hype up the players an instill fear in the other team.
Emiley S (Goochland)
It appears that they are chanting something. By the details on their outfits and uniforms they look like they are part of a school. They look like they are part of a team. I think that it is a traditional chant for a school.
Adryan Benning (FD, Iowa)
1. Zoom in. 2. Read Badge on front guy 3. Type in google 4. Find out everything... or at least more than that. ( It is part of a school/a traditional language/it's in New Zealand/and so on)
Hope F (Virginia)
It looks like the people are playing games with the sticks they have in their hands. It appears that there are teams of people with one team being blue and the other team red.
Amanda H (New York )
Oh yeah, I never thought of it as a game. Good thought!
kg (804)
They out here doing a ritual for there culture. It seems like the sticks are pointed so maybe they throw them at something.
Chris K (Florida)
this is a really simple thing that talks about what is going on and whats going on is like a riot or a walk out there are rlly ugly and making themselves look uglier
Ethan Webster (Sanford FL)
It seems like they are a group of students who are protesting together and they have either all just graduated or they are having something go on outside the school.
Chris K (Florida)
While at first glance it seems like they're protesting, looking closer at their faces they seem to be excited and happy. They may be, graduating, or finished with exams, or let out of school for something.
Alejandro Lucas (Sanford)
It looks like they could be protesting for something
Alexiss Benkendorfer (Sanford, Florida)
A group of people are protesting against something and they're making themselves look ridiculous in the process. I think this because there's a lot of people together holding up poles and it seems as if they're all purposefully making silly faces. I'm sure you can find out more about the image if you reverse image search it.
Ahimelec (Sanford Florida)
Everyone is protesting and ranting in this picture, everyone is yelling trying to expect for change.
zabian nieves (florida)
this photo is kids with some medical problems like, this is such a random picture with random faces and a whole bunch of sticks it's more confusing on what's going on then trying to figure out what it is but there is someone holding a plant in their hands which is awfully weird and a lot of people yelling
robert (sanford fl)
Maybe the people are protesting, or maybe they are college graduates who just graduated, or possibly high school graduates who just graduated. Maybe we could get a better image of what is going on if there was another picture from a different angle or from above.
Chris House (Sanford, FL)
This looks like a hockey celebration or rally march. everyone is wearing nice clothes, which could mean that they are a part of a private or charter school. this picture could also be just a silly publicity stunt for a certain sport, person, or group.
Yousef aouadi (florida)
It looks like the people are from a private college and perhaps the are celebrating something or protesting something. It leads me to believe it is some kind of celebration because they do not look angry or sad. They all have the same facial expression which adds to my belief it is a celebration.
Austin Berget (Florida)
I feel like it is a protest of some kind at a school since they are mainly wearing uniforms and seem to be chanting/yelling.
Sofia Aguilu (Sanford FL)
There seems to be a celebration going on in this picture. This is shown evident by the ridiculous faces of its attenders. The attendees also seem to be from two different groups or schools due to the differences between the uniforms.
Rafiul Bhuiyan (Florida)
This appears to be a protest of some sort. They appear to be wearing two different uniforms: a red collar shirt and a black jacket, blue shirt, and a white collared shirt underneath both. The ones wearing the black jacket are holding a blue stick with something on it, maybe a duster? The ones wearing a red shirt have a normal wooden pole. It looks like they are protesting or supporting two different things depending on which uniform they are wearing. The black jackets have a logo which the red shirts don't, which also takes my previous sentence further.
Deana Malagon (Sanford,FL)
In this picture it appears as if they are protesting. I came to this conclusion due to the fact that they appear to be screaming and and they appear to be angry. From a different angle the picture may reveal more details.
Jazlyn Chang (Crooms AoIT)
In this picture, it looks like a crowd of students are having a rally or a protest. They are wearing uniform and look upset.
Eh Mu (Atlanta, GA)
In this picture, it look like the student are protesting since theyŕe holding a stick with some sort of stuff in it. There a school at the background, so that what make me think that theyŕe a student. I don think the student are in american school because in their logo on their uniform, there a different language.
Jackson Hoffler (Richmond, California)
There is some sort of protest occurring in the picture. Everyone is dressed nicely and they are all making faces a something or someone. If you were to see this scene from a different camera angle, you may get a better idea as to what is going on.
Vincent L. (WHRHS)
It looks like a bunch of goonies that may be going through a righthood or graduation that shows their great pride in their school. Their eyes are crazy and half of them have their tounges out. A girl is holding a plant, signifying her love for nature. A man’s tounge is out, which could signify his attempts of licking the air.
Jamie L (Warren, WHRHS)
This photo shows a group of people chanting or protesting in the streets. They are wearing uniforms so they are clearly from a school. They all look really happy and are screaming. The people are also holding tall poles, which is odd.
Liz Nuzzi (WHRHS)
It looks like a group of kids who have just graduated or something. They look excited and happy to be there. They might be doing some sort of dance or participating in a rally. They also look like they might be cheering for something.
Christopher Meireles (Watchung Hills)
It looks like they are students who are protesting together against something they are all in agreement with.
Rhea (WHRHS)
The kids look like they are a part of a protest or a movement. They look like they are posing for a picture by the expression on their faces. The kids in the blazers have blue poles and the kids in the red shirts have wooden poles.
Sophia (WHRHS)
It looks like students are graduation and possibly following their school’s traditions of holding plants or poles.
Kendyl (Warren)
This looks like a school protest with all of the kids excited. There are some kids wearing blue and some kids wearing red, all holding poles
Natnaiel Haielmariam (Stone Mouantain)
It looks like college students doing a protest about something. Also, I see the college students holding sticks with a little flower on top. They might be going to fight also.
Taylor G. (Virginia)
In the image, students from a school in New Zealand are playing some sort of game. Additionally, on the logo, the language is in Maori. Also, there are two different groups because some people are wearing red and others are wearing blue. Each group also has a different color stick. The game could also be a game native to New Zealand.
Rachelle Manzi (Old Forge, New York)
Everyone is wearing either blue or red with black and white. I can see people are all around high school age (teens) and are holding some kinds of sticks in the air. They are all making faces with their mouths open and eyes too for some reason I'm not positive about. Maybe this is some kind of ritual in their school.
maddie b (nj)
This is a group of students who look like they are in a protest. Some are wearing red and some are in blue
Mark E (Whrhs)
This looks like a school protest since some of the people look like they are wearing a school uniform. They could be protesting something that has to do with gardening. One girls is holding up a plant and others are holding up metal sticks which could be gardening tools.
Lola (Whrhs - New Jersey)
This picture looks like it could from New zealand. They look like they are students at maybe a high schools (uniforms). I’m guessing maybe they are indeginus people (Maori) because of their exaggerated facial expressions, tasseled staffs, and the tongue sticking out.
Sachi Gandhi (GA, Stone Mountain)
In the picture, I see a group of teens going on a protest with sticks with enthusiastic expression.
vung (Georgia )
What seems to be going on is that students look like they're protesting. They look like they go to private school because their uniform are different from other school. The have different uniform color like red top, some with black suit jackets with blue tie and sweater under. They seems to be making ugly face to the someone. Some of them are sticking they're tongues out and some are opening their mouth wild open. It looks the sun is setting.
Jacob Taylor (Goochland)
It is a rally for a school.
Rachel B (WHRHS)
It looks like it is a bunch of college students celebrating, rioting, or protesting something.
Cabrina (Atl)
This picture looks like it is an all boys school. The boys looks like they are playing a game with each other.
Nay Soe (FMS)
I think that the college students are in a protest. This is because of they look like they are screaming and going into a riot. They can be protesting for many things, however, I think they are protesting for their rights in school because they are holding sticks and are in separation of uniform colors.
Fatuma Hassan (Atlanta, Ga )
This picture looks like a Colleges student because they look like older than 19 year old, who are from different college because they wearing different uniforms. They look they are going to strike since they are carrying some sticks and yelling.
zella (virginia)
I think that these kids are doing some type of roll play activity at school. Some people are wearing red while others are wearing blue. This must symbolize two sides. They appear to be rallying, and their spear-looking polls seem like weapons of some sort. I believe that it is a competition, but not necessarily a war going on.
Heather Raley (Goochland Virginia)
In this picture it shows students showing their school pride. They're students of some sort because of the uniform. I feel that they are showing school spirt versus rioting because their facial expressions show some sort of joyfulness.
Jordan Muniz (Virginia, USA)
They look like they are teens doing some sort of reinactment. Based on their uniforms they look like they are in school. They do not look serious therefore whatever they are doing must be lighthearted and silly
Billy (Virginia)
I believe they are college kids from New Zealand and they are practicing cultural values. I think it would be this because of the patch they are wearing on their jacket and by what they have and what they are doing seems like a tradition/cultural things they do.
Jacob Neill (Virginia)
I believe that they are reciting a Maori cultural ritual. The patch that they all have is for a Maori immersion school in New Zealand where the main goal is to revitalize the maori culture.
William (goochland)
They are defiantly students (you can tell by the uniforms). I think this might be a spirt week for their school because the people in the front look like they would be seniors and the sticks could be a tradition by the school. Also they have funny faces, probably a cultural thing or tradition.
Brandon (Virginia)
There seems to be a protest or outrage about something. There are red and blue shirts, which may signify equality for different things. For example, these people are uniting for something.
Hudson (Goochland, VA)
In this picture, it looks like to me that these people are possibly being entertainers for some country. Some of these people may be college students. By the way the architecture is, it looks as if it could possibly be happening somewhere in Asia. Again this is just an idea.
Conner P (.)
The people in this picture look like they are all from the same culture. I think they are celebrating their heritage and doing ritual chants.
John (Goochland)
It looks like a New Zealand school event or rally.
Chris W. (ghs)
what i think is going on in this picture it is a school in new zeland and they are having an even where kids are graduationg or moving up a rank in their class
Caitlin (Virginia)
They are school kids that look like they could be playing a game or they are having a celebration because of their facial expressions.
Zach (WHRHS)
Looks like a college event with many students dressed up in their team’s apparel. They seem to be having lot of fun so it does not look like a protests.
Jacob Shovlin (Virginia )
Judging by the time that this happened it is almost a planned event at a college. It almost looks like it resembles an event or battle that the students take part in this celebration maybe once a year to celebrate independence or maybe just a historic battle.
Autumn Vance (Goochland VA)
This a picture of a bunch of students. I picture they had all just finished exams and have been slaving over textbooks for days. I think that this is at the end of the week and the teachers decided to let them relax by marching around and being silly. They look to be wearing a uniform of sorts which makes me feel as if it were a college.
C O (United States)
I see an intense school spirit week because they all look like students in uniform and they're cheering on something or someone. I'm not sure what the sticks are for though.
S Howe (WHRHS)
Students celebrating or maybe protesting.
Caleb Moyer (VA)
I think these people are celebrating or participating in a certain tradition, that they do every year at New Zealand schools. I think this represents a very special holiday because they all have badges and are dressed similarly.
Andrew Caffrey (WHRHS)
It looks like theyre protesting something, but they look like they aren't taking themselves seriously so it can't be for something big.
Katherine Clement (Goochland )
Based on the jackets in the picture, I would guess it's students at a sports event. Mimicking the ancient tribes of the area are equivalent to a cheering crowed.
Téa Marshall (Goochland, VA)
This picture looks like high school students are going on a protest / war. Since there is a mixture of red and blue they might be fighting the teachers.
Joey T (Goochland)
It looks like college students that just graduaed or are participating in a rally or event
Tiny Tim’s (None of yours businnzzzzz)
This picture is a protest for teens and kids and it looks like they’re in war, maybe for their country’s government. These teens or kids have badges which could lead to a school, rebel army, a rebellion, and have sticks with flowers on top. What is this protest and why is it teens and kids instead of adults?
Sunnyyyy (Not Dallas)
These are a bunch of students representing their high school wildly.
Lielle (Dallas)
I see a bunch of people, probably students protesting against something.
meira (plano texas )
In this picture there are is an obvious separation of blue and red, the red are holding a different set of sticks while the blue are holding different sticks.
Tom o (Dallas Tx)
They are doing some sort of dance. It looks like they are facing other peers that could be their opponents. By their facial expression, it looks like they are trying to scare them.
kerry L (dallas)
it looks like a bunch of kids/ teenagers are going to war. they look very very scary and look like they are about to fight for there lives
Sunnyyyy (Not Dallas)
I think this is a bunch of kids getting excited over a celebrity that they all really like.
Shauna Bernstein (Dallas Tx)
They look very excited or passionate for something. It means that they are rioting about something.
Orly C (Dallas, Texas)
I think that these people are from some sort of private school or mental institute, hence the uniforms. It looks like they are celebrating something, or maybe getting ready to charge at something.
Elisha (Dallas)
They look like students from diffrent schools starting a riot and joining together to fight for whatever the cause is together
Bennett (Dallas)
I think these are students protesting against something. They are wearing uniforms, and seem excited about something.
talia dickter (dallas)
I think this people are celebrating something and they have sticks with feathers on them and the thing has an embroidered thing on it.
Yoav E (Dallas)
The students are reanacting Harry Potter. They are going out to play quidditch. What they are holding in their hand is a broom. Their faces show that they are extremely excited to start playing.
Robbyn L (Kailua, Hawaii)
From fourth graders: I see people making faces, holding sticks maybe a celebration or a dance. I think that it might be an uprising because they are making faces and holding sticks. Or it could be a high school graduation because they are wearing uniforms. I think that they are doing a protest because they are all standing together and they are making scary faces. I think that they are doing a funny face challenge and the spears represent their hands to show that they have a funny face. Maybe it is a celebration like we have a MayDay here. I think it is a college or HS celebration and I think it is in New Zealand because of the faces they are making and it looks like the same faces as the Haka. I think that they are trying to scare the bad spirits away. I think that they maybe taunting people. I think these poeople are getting ready to celebrate summer vacation. Wonders: What are the sticks for? Are they rioting?
Adryan Benning (FD, Iowa)
Whoever thought of the Haka one is the smartest one there... Up vote for them specifically.
abbey laughlin (port orchard, skhs)
High school students from New Zealand are performing a tribal dance called a Haka.
Gabriel (SKHS)
In this photo i think it is college students celebrating graduating college and doing a college tradition. I say this because they all look to be about the age of college kids.
Diego C (SKHS)
They are doing some sort of dance. It looks like they are facing other peers that could be their opponents. By their facial expression, it looks like they are trying to scare them.
Kaleb (SKHS)
1. I think it a pic of kids from a private school celebrating their native heritage. 2. I say that because of the patches on their shirts and also because they are holding poles with feathers on them and also their facial expressions. 3. Some of the kids are wearing red button up shirts why others wearing blazers with school outfits.
Makayla Cook (Port Orchard, WA)
This photo shows a group of people all seemingly excited. A lot of them re holding sticks of some sort, and they must be attending a private school because they all are wearing matching uniforms/ clothing. Nobody in the crowd is wearing something of their own.
Bozinski Matthew (South Kitsap High School)
In this photo there are a bunch of people that went to the 1971 comic con in San Diego, California. I say this because all these people seem really hyped and excited to be where they are and I know I would be to. I can also see that half the people’s eye ball are popping out of their heads, and they love it.
Tehani L (SKHS)
These are students of a private high school in New Zealand, based on their uniforms. They are most likely performing the traditional dance called the haka to challenge a rival school, as the New Zealand rugby team does towards the teams they play against.
Reece R (Port Orchard)
In this picture there appears to be some sort of assembly. I think it is an assembly because it is a large gathering of people who look young enough to be in school still and are wearing the same uniforms. It is odd that they are all holding sticks and making faces.
Rachelle Manzi (Old Forge, New York)
I agree. Maybe they are making faces just for the fun, not sure.
Ellie Hickle (SKHS)
I think this is a picture of people celebrating something. I also think they are connected because of what they are wearing, which almost looks like a school uniform. Also, they all their mouths open and some of them are sticking their tongues out, which is probably related to what they are doing. Based on the logo on the coat, I would guess they are in another country because the writing doesn’t look like it is in English. I would like to find out what they sticks they are holding mean.
hannah servis (skhs)
maybe
jorge z (Guadalajara)
I believe that they are doing the famous dance from New Zealand because they are about to go in something that involves going against someone else
Eli M. B. (Dallas, Texas)
In this picture it looks as if there are students who are either protesting or cheering. What for, I cannot tell for sure but I think it it has to do with the sticks and leaves that some of them are holding alongside with their uniforms and faces the are making.
L (DTX)
I see a bunch of teenagers between the ages of 15-18 so I believe they are high schoolers schoolers. It looks like the students are wearing school uniforms so I believe they are protesting against their school. I think they aren’t from America and are protesting against rules in their school.
Amir Z. (Tilted Towers)
These people look like they have set up a reenactment of Hogwarts. I see many people wearing similar black and read uniforms marching together behind classic-looking buildings.
simbi (ontario)
In this picture there are a crowd of students that are standing, possibly in front of a school. The students in my opinion seem to be happy due to the expression on their faces. They seem to be celebrating some type of event going on at the school. They also seem to be from a private school because they are all wearing a uniform of some sort with school insignia on the blazer.
Ilana Hirsch (Dallas TX United States )
In this picture it looks like there are many students protesting against something. They are holding sticks which I think might represent something to their cause. The expressions on their faces seem to be of them shouting something together.
Marcus (Ottawa )
I think they are from a private school and they must be protesting or a celebrating of some sort. I believe there from a private school because the clothing there wearing. I also think there from some type of tribe because of the facial expression they have.
No'am Gilat Elbaz (dallas texas )
i see a group of young people, probably university students because of what they’re wearing. their facial expressions suggest that they are in the midst of a loud, strong protest where they are all voicing their opinions.
Zander Feinstein (What )
I see a couple of students celebrating a special tradition to them. I think that I also see the school emblem leaves and cebrating poles
Mahadi Abdourahman (Ottawa, Ontario)
In this picture, I see a group of students because of the uniforms als the seem to be protesting because of their gesture at the sticks they are holding. They seem to be from a private school because most private schools have uniforms.
Betty (Mexico)
This looks looks like a mock protest that a group of high school students are making because they are exaggerating their faces and they are students because of the uniform.
Isaac Amaya (Mexico)
I think that in this picture they are about to play a game between colleges or universities. They are doing this faces because they are hyped to compete for their schools. Most probably they are doing a rugby dance before the match ritual. I say this because of their facial expressions and that they are all dressed up either in red or green making them represent their schools. Another thing I found in this picture was that they all have sticks which drives me to think they are pounding them on the ground as part of their ritual.
Mariana (heaven)
I strongly believe that this is in some place of new Zealand. They are recreating or celebrating a dance called Haka, which is a cultural dance in the country. I believe this because they are sticking their tongue out and making faces that could scare someone off, which is the main point of this dance.
Andrew (Canada)
I think it’s an annual Haka ceremony being done at a school in New Zealand. The reason why I think it’s the Haka because I’ve watched New Zealand rugby games in the past, and the tongues sticking and the wide open eyes is what you do in a traditional Haka dance. I think it’s at a school because of the uniforms at that there are a lot of young people at this event or ceremony. I think it’s in New Zealand because the Haka is a traditional dance of the Maori people in New Zealand, which are the aboriginal people there.
monica donayre (Guadalajara, Jal.)
This is a group of students protesting, likely in hopes to have change regarding ecology. They are wearing uniforms, holding plants and sticking their tongues out to show disrespect. They are also holding sticks, maybe to look stronger or defend themselves.
Karla V (Mexico)
I think that there is some type of ritual going on in this picture probably related to the religion that they practice in school. It looks like they are high school students. I don't think its a protest because of the plants that they are holding
Dabin L (Guadalajara)
There is a group of people with some intense facial expressions. They don't seem like they are angry nor feared but are trying to show something so someone. I think they are trying to scare someone or warn something. They also seem like they are showing their power against someone.
Fermin N (Mexico)
This looks like a celebration to the indigenous people due to the sticks with tribal decorations as well as the faces which are exaggerated and are normal for indigenous celebrations. This is located somewhere in South America. This also comes from a school.
Carlie (Guadalajara)
I think that in this picture people are practicing some sort of riot, or are showing school spirit. I think this because the people are young and have similar outfits on, which suggests they are at a school. I don´t think this is a real protest or riot, because they seem too happy and not angry at all. Furthermore, I think the sticks they are holding are part of some game. Finally, I think they are probably in Hawaii or Polynesia because of many of the ethnicities of the people and one guy is sticking out his tongue like Maori people do.
Flor (Guadalajara)
This picture is in New Zealand because of the letters in the uniform are from schools in New Zealand. They are protesting about something that they feel strongly about because of their faces. They are sticking their tongue out and opening their eyes a lot. They all seem young and probably in high school. There are a lot of students because I can see like a crowd and not just a few people.
Ana Paula (Guadalajara, Mexico)
This is a group of young high schoolers in New Zeland since in the coats of some of the teens you can see a logo that says Te Kura Kaupapa, which is schools in New Zealand where the philosophy and practice of Maori culture is practiced. I think the students are cheering for something or they are doing a traditional celebration of the Maori culture since they all have sticks with feathers at the top and they are doing funny faces.
TheCupcakeMaster (Canada)
In the image shown, there are many students, around fifteen to eighteen, from the school, Te Kura Kauapapa Māori o Ngā Mokopuna, and another school, judging by uniform, standing in the foreground and most of the background. In the bottom right corner, there is a pin worn on the uniform of the student with the words, “Te Kura Kauapapa Māori o Ngā Mokopuna”. This lead me to the main site of the school, showing the kids with the uniform on are part of that school. After reading the uniform requirements, the students in the red button down shirts are not part of this school. In the background, there are a few buildings, and some are tall glass buildings. The teens in the teal outfits are holding long teal sticks with a feather at the top. The teens in the red button down outfits are holding long wooden sticks. Judging by the way the image has been taken, I can infer that they are either holding a friendly protest, or are cheering something on, or a pep rally. The background shows the photo had been taken possibly in the evening, since the lighting seems to darken. To conclude, the students expressions seem to be “quite playful”, and enthusiastic, meaning it’s a happy fun event.
Nikolas K (Fortnite )
In this weeks picture you can see a group of people. They look young so I think they are high school students. They are wearing a red shirt or uniforms with an insignia. That’s another reason why I think they could be students. There’s also a building behind the crowd that could be the school. It looks like they were yelling because of their faces. They could be protesting but they are carrying sticks with something on top which makes me think it is not a protest but some sort of ritual or celebration.
Lo (Mexico)
In this week's picture, high school students are holding up sticks, screaming, and making strange faces. They are showing someone that they are excited because they do not seem angry. Some people are making faces that are made when people are celebrating something and I think these students are celebrating a traditional value of the ancient culture of New Zealand.
Diego R (Guadalajara)
In this picture, a group of students at a school in New Zealand are carrying out a traditional Māori dance and song as night approaches. They are re-creating and honoring Māori culture in their Kure Kaupapa Māori school, whose purpose is to do those things. I can see that the guys and girls in the picture are using a school uniform, and the language written on their insignias is Maōri, which is commonly spoken in New Zealand. I can also see that they are in the middle of shouting something, they are in an urban setting and that behind them is a building which is probably their school.
Talia Campbell (Dallas)
Everyone in the picture looks like there very passionate about something and they aren’t holding tall long sticks with feathers. They are all wearing nice suits and they are running. It looks like some kind of march or protest.
Terrence (Ott )
These people could be university students who are watching some kind of sports game and the team they are cheering for just did something amazing that is why everyone is screaming. The sticks they are holding could be a symbol to their mascot which could possibly be a bird which is why there is feathers on the sticks. Another hypothesis that I have is that they could be from a school and there is some kind of celebration because they all look like they are yelling. They could be from a private school because they all have the same insignia on their chest.
Shy Sarah (Ottawa)
This is a school-related stuff considering their school logos are on everyone's shirts. They could be celebrating or protesting about something. But with the looks on their face, they look zealous or happy so it could be a celebration. I notice that their sticks have a pattern and feathers and there are plants in some peoples hands so this could be a native related stuff. they're celebrating in a class for Native related stuff for a extra credit in class?
OriZ (Dallas)
In this picture, the students are protesting something. I have a feeling that they are protesting something to do with the legalization of marijuana, but I'm not positive. They are carrying green leaves, and holding spears, signifying protest.
Sarah F. (Dallas)
In this photo there are teenage looking people in some sort of revolt. I think that this picture is of supermarket employees protesting which is why one is holding lettuce and many are holding brooms which are things found at a supermarket.
Yael (Dallas)
High School students protesting rights in a differnt contry. They are either protesting their government or their school or legal rights that were recently taken away from them.
Rachel (Texas)
High school children are protesting the legalization of marijuana while on marijuana because they look angry, crazy, and peep the girl on the side holding a weed-looking plant.
Ayala T (DTX)
I think that the students in this picture are in high school because they are wearing a uniform with badges. They are holding sticks which makes it seem like they are protesting something with agriculture. Additionally the faces they are making look a bit weird and scary.
nali (ottawa)
In this photo it seems to be a protest something plant related based on the plant on her hand. Also it looks like it takes place behind or in front of a church, however they are holding sticks some of them are blue and some are baj the ones that are blue have feathers on them and the ones that are baj have nothing. It seems that they have different uniforms maybe two schools trying to protest together.
yousef (Ottawa)
In this picture It looks like students are protesting. They are wearing uniforms which has a insignia on it and the students are holding sticks and shouting. But one of the students at the front looks happy because of the protest. But the other students are making funny faces during the protest. The protest is being held during the day and at the school.
Marta (Ottawa)
In this weeks picture you can see a group of people. They look young so I think they are high school students. They are wearing a red shirt or uniforms with an insignia. That’s another reason why I think they could be students. There’s also a building behind the crowd that could be the school. It looks like they were yelling because of their faces. They could be protesting but they are carrying sticks with something on top which makes me think it is not a protest but some sort of ritual or celebration.

This is a picture of a bunch of psychotic people joining together to share their crazy stories. They have the poles in case the police try to stop them. They are proud to be crazy, and they do not try to hide it. Eventually, the psychotic people ran out of energy and all fell asleep on the floor.
Jacob (Ottawa)
These are students from a high school because they’re wearing uniforms, they look like kids and there is a school right behind them. They’re probably psychopaths because they’re all making weird faces. The students are lined up trying to celebrate some sort of religion in their school by having some of them wearing the same uniform and by holding sticks and making weird faces. They have a logo on their uniforms that is a different language so it can’t be in a english country because it’s a different language. These people are marching outside to protest about saving the animals and plants because one of the students are holding plants and also another student has a plant logo on his uniform.
Jacob (Ottawa)
nice comment
buddy (ottawa)
nice one my dude
Givemecookiesplz (dank memes)
I think that they are university or collage students just based on the way they look.
buddy (ottawa)
What's going on is there have a protest about the learning of plant in there school. You can tell its a school by their uniforms and its about plants because some of the students are holding plants. There doing it in a silly way because that's is the way they think to teaching them about plants. The sticks there hold is because some though they would not look big without stick so then they put sticks in there hand and they the news saw these and got scared and took this picture.
joeel (sms )
These people seem to be having a tongue war. These people are are getting ready to face the army of feet people. They don't like the feet people. So they stick out there tongues when they fight.

Students from Sea Whether High are participating in the local movie awards. The theme this year is to remake a fantasy movie. These students chose one of the most well known movies, Harry Potter. To win, they decided to make it their own. Keeping the main theme, they changed the script to be more current. One of the best moments is when they did their own version of quiditch. The top five in the movie awards will be competing to get the winning slot. Among those five is Sea whether High. Watch those movies at Sea Whether and see who wins.

The people in this picture go to a colloage since they have school uniforms on. The people look like they are either protesting or going a play. It looks like they are doing a play about a tribe, because the people have spears and the spears have feathers on them and sometimes tribes put feathers on their spears.
Bibby Raines (Virginia )
In this picture I see a crowd of students, it looks like they are protesting. The way the people are dressed makes me think they are wearing some ind of school uniform. The faces of the people makes me think they are protesting.
Hannah (sms)
A private school is letting all their students out to march. The reason they are marching is to show that being different is okay. They even have the staff participate.
oof oof (Virginia)
Some sort of school event as they are all in uniforms. They have a darker skin color suggesting it is in the Pacific region, perhaps an island. It's most likely some sort of tribal festival because of the feathered staffs.
Brady (Far away)
In this picture i see that there is a lot of people both males and females. They are all dressed up in uniforms. So they might be in a academy remaking a script from a movie that they all just seen or a play.
Joshua Roth (GHS)
I think it is a bunch of students or people of some organization celebrating some sort of annual thing, though i obviously cannot make an accurate response.
Matt koski (florida)
some are wearing uniforms and some are not. I think this is a reenactment of like a battle of some sort. the uniforms have a patch or a logo that is not in English . Might be part of a college or a private school. they are all looking in different directions and making some pretty weird faces. the sticks could be part of a ritual or a native culture. the sticks could represent different classes or a different weapon.
kendra (ND)
in this picture there are people wearing uniforms with patches that have a different language on them; some people are also wearing red button ups which also have some sort of logo on the sleeve. These people are holding poles and seem to be yelling which makes me believe they are in protest.
WIll A (PJHS)
This picture is very interesting because, we see a lot people looking very happy and have animated faces. Looking at the picture I can tell that its in a European country. I say this because, of the architecture looks very old and does not look modern. That being said, I also see that they are holding up sticks with one feather. This is common and means that they have lost a relative or someone special in their life. Overall, this might be apart of an event or a ritual.
AlexG (SMS)
In this picture the people are protesting. The people have poles in their hands because poles aren't treated equality. We must save all the poles and go crazy.
Briar (nd)
It looks like its some club taking place in a city when the sun is setting. There either black or red some ale also wearing uniforms. One guy also has a medal on his shirt. They look like they might be Hawaiian. The might be doing a school function.
Spencer (SMS)
A school in Hawaii is holding a annual fight between the colleges. Each side brings their own weapons. They brought what looks to be harpoons. And it makes sense because of their heritage from the Hawaiian Indian tribe. Which is called "iyedcbhaj"! And it's a shame because some people don't take it seriously.
Megan Bowers (GHS)
I see what looks to be students wearing school uniforms that are participating in some chant or ritual. I think they are from a different country than the U.S. Some of the kids have their eyes bulging out and their tongues are sticking out. They seem excited and happy.

This is a reenactment of a battle in the Philippines. Boarding schools are trying to include the teenagers in local history. They students are in different uniforms maybe indicating different levels of learning at their school. I believe they're in the Philippines because the patches on their uniforms are written in something like spanish.
Kaitlyn (SMS)
I think everyone in this picture is practicing for a dance in a different country. I would say it got to a part of the song that the people in the front of the group had to make a face when it got to a certain part of a song then you made that type of face.
Dalton S (lakota)
I think that a whole bunch of students from a collage or something are getting ready to reenact something. All the people are dressed up nice and are all holding a shaft that may be used as a weapon. Any person in red has a tan or lighter colored stick while everyone in teal color has a blue stick. May be different schools working together.
Greyson (Goochland, Va)
In this image, hundreds of teenagers are gathered around celebrating a spiritual event in their country. It looks to be a tribal celebration, to celebrate their history/background. The sticks might represent the weapons they used in centuries before.
Spencer H (port Jefferson HS)
in this picture it looks like people in a different country reenacting an ancient tradition. which might be inferred by the faces they're making and the sticks they're holding.

I see a large group of people gathered in like a parade of some sort they look like they may be protesting or fighting for something. I see a patch on some of the coat they are wearing it is not English writing. I would say it may took place in another country or island. It could be south america or a warm climate country. i see a stick pole like object may be a weapon but i but that because there is a flower on the end and i don't think people wold be using a stick pole for a weapon. i think they are standing for something or someone they could be acting something out to there faces don't look nice.
Katelyn AOSE (New Jersey)
I believe this image is of a ceremony and or convention. All of the people have a similar facial expression, perhaps they are cheering. Most of the individuals are holding colorful poles with tassels on the top. There seem to be two different outfits in the photo. The first being a white shirt worn with a green tie, teal sweater, and a black blazer. The second outfit is black pants and a red button-down shirt.
Luke (PJSH)
I notice that they are in school uniforms, the patches on the shirts aren't in English. They are holding spear for a traditional tribe fight. That lasted for a year.
Brooke (North dakota)
There is a group of people holding weird sticks and making faces like they're yelling. They also have matching uniforms that aren't in English, and they're pretty tan so maybe Hawaii or something. It kinda looks like a festival or a protest based on bow they all look insane. They also have a flower on their coat that looks like one of those hibiscus flowers man.
Abdul (Virhinia)
In this picture I see a bunch of students celebrating the end of the school year. The faces of the students look very thrilled.
Eli (GHS)
I think they are from some country other than the US due to the language on their patches. It looks like they have school uniforms on but some have different colors. Also the ones with different colors have different staffs or spears. i think it might be a protest or they might be reenacting something.
Kandice (the land of Gooch)
Everyone seems "armed," as if they are going to a battle- except that on girl with the weed. Everyone is loud and crazy as if rallying together. Even people who don't look like they would be participating are participating.

In the picture the people are in drama club and are reenacting a war that went on. The people are making weird faces to pose for the picture. In the girl's hand she is holding leaves which would have represented tobacco when the war actually was going on.

It looks like a bunch of different prep schools gathering for something. I think it may be some sort of olympic games that the schools participate in. They look very spirited.......

There is a school rally going on. All of the people that are in the picture are apart of the school. It's that time of year again!! Battle of Geeks, In this battle they will fight with fake weapons that are made out of foam and cardboard. It's pretty pathetic to be honest, but at the same time they are doing what they love. They fight for their school almost like Harry Potter.
Jake Corbet (Jupiter)
There are a bunch of students with long sticks. It looks like they all are at a private school because they are young looking and all of them have uniforms on. I think that they are doing a chant because i saw something that looks like this on Facebook and that video took place in a Nordic nation.
luke Headley (goochland )
It is a New Zealand school that is rebelling against their government with whatever weapons they can find.
Jon Haman (Pelto)
In this picture i see a group of people; some holding s long wooden pole and some wearing matching jackets who are very exited. From their facial expressions they almost seem to be going to battle. I think this picture is of a annual activity that doesn't happen very often, maybe a physical activity with two teams facing each other, somewhere in a Hawaiian or Mongolia. I say this because they all see extremely exited, and they seem to be on a team facing a common direction. Also they seem to be from a common decent as their skin color is a light brownish.
Evan Halvorson (Lakota, North Dakota)
In this picture, there seems to be people marching and making silly faces. The people are holding a pole in their hands, that has some sort of plant attached at the top. One of the marchers is holding two different kinds of plants in their hands. On the jackets that the people are wearing, there is writing on the left hand side. These people might possibly be rioting against a plant organization that is failing to up-hold their duties to save an endangered plant species. The faces that they are making might have something to do with an animal or bug that is eating the plant population away.
Brady Larson (ND)
Looks like this may be a group of students because of their different uniforms. Some people are holding sticks with feathers on them and are making funny faces. This could be a protest that is happening maybe at a school or they could also be celebrating maybe a countries holiday.
Ricardo Sahagun Orozco (Guadalajara)
People are doing a haka. I think that because people are shooting and sticking their tongue out. Something else I can find out is why are they doing it.
Madison Dyer (Goochland High School)
It looks like this picture could be taken in Europe or Asia maybe because more of the people in the picture look like they are mixed with something or in a different nationality. I think they just won a game of some sort or cheering someone or something on.
Rachel R (New York Port Jeff)
in the picture it seems that the children are getting ready for a traditional game they play in there school. Many of them have a long stick that maybe represents it hitting something. 1. Student protest 2. Uniforms, sticks, gathered people shouting. 3. Their stick look fancy
Rafael (J)
We can notice on this picture that a big group of teenagers or young adults are very angry about something. Acting wired on purpose for a play, TV show or another thing but that just doesn't look normal. Their faces show extreme energy with their tongue out, hair all of the place and big sticks that show aggression possibly. I can find a building behind them that could be their school, university or a place in which they train to be that weird.
Sarah Martinez (GHS)
There are many people that look like their in school uniforms. They people look like they are in some sort of riot judging by their body language and the sticks that their holding. They are making weird faces and sticking their tongue out so there has to be some sort of meaning behind that
Christoff (U.)
This looks like a protest, they are all holding posts and making weird faces, they seem to be walking through a town trying to spread a message across to them.
Ale M (Mexico)
This picture is in New Zealand because this school is from there. I think they are doing sort of a haka representation since the rugby players do that a lot in NZ. Another thing that made me think this was the plants that they are holding the stick that they are lifting in the air has some details on the top that they are somehow New Zealand details.
Robert (GHS)
I think that this is a group of college students participating in a school spirit activity.
Kaitlyn Croker (Goochland VA)
They all look excited in some way. While holding a pole. It is a school that is not in America. So this may be a weird way of celebrating. It might be some ind of graduation ceremony.
Olivia Manno (GHS )
In this picture I see a bunch of people that look to be in private school, these students might be holding sticks and making these faces for a school chant or some sort of celebration or festival going on. Students are wearing either red or blue uniforms and holding either tan or blue sticks, making me think they they are competing against each other.
Frida Gomez (Guadalajara)
I believe, that what is going on in this picture, is that they are in a protest. I believe this because they are in a big group of people, they seem to be student or young people. I can also see that they are making faces, I guess that this is because they want to get attention and seem confident during the protest.
Vittorio Lombardi (NewYork)
In this picture, a club at a private school is doing some sort of battle cry against another club. They are about to initiate in some kind of fantasy battle and are holding up staffs. They are making faces to show they are serious about this fantasy concept. They go to a private school and are wearing a uniform for their school.
Ryan L (USA)
This is some type of festival because there are many people and they all are in either red or black suits with white shirts and blue vest. I'm not sure what they are celebrating but most of them have their tongues out. The writing on the circles on the black shirts looks like some different language not far off from English. And the symbol appears to be an island nation. I'm not sure why but there spears have some flower type objects attached to the top.
Ciera Stephens (Virginia)
Most of them are wearing a jacket with a patch which could stand resemble a school, also there the two colors red and teal which could be the colors of the school. This does not look like it takes place in the US because of the background details. What it looks like they are doing is Marching together as a group but for a good reason, like a last day or something. They could also be reenacting a past event that occurred.
Katelyn AOSE (New Jersey)
What do you think they are re-enacting?

In this photo the students of Westover County Private School are going on strike. They are tired of having to wear the same uniform every single day. The strike has been going on for about two weeks now, and the students decided that today was the day they took it up a notch. They all gathered poles, and they beat the principles car with the poles.
Luis (Mexico)
I think that in this picture they are celebrating something important that occurred in their culture. It's in New Zeland and this is a tradition that they make weird faces and starts to scream, they are in a high school and they are trying to show how they dance and/or practicing their dances.
Gavi GHS (VA)
I believe they are doing "The Haka" a traditional dance of New Zealand's native Maori's
Julieta V. (Mexico)
I think that this is a school in New Zealand because they are all wearing uniforms that says "Kura Kaupapa Māori". These are schools that learn and practice Māori culture. I think this is a festival or something and that is why they are all making these faces or fury with sticks.
Emily (The Moon )
I think that these kids are a part of a group and they are having a riot because they all have uniforms on and they're holding poles of some sort. They all have their months opened and some with their tongues out so that must stand for something.

In the picture above, it is blatantly obvious that they are at the annual Mongolian grilled cheese festival located in the upper mountain range of northern Mongolia. There are nearly 12,000 participants of the peculiar festival and it is estimated that 79% of the attendants are of the great grilled cheese tribe also called "шарсан бяслаг".
Mrs. Lang (South River, NJ)
WE notice that they are wearing uniforms, with patches that are not in English, but look like a Hawaiian type of language. They could be gathered to reenact a scene, or trying to break a worlds' record. They are all tan. Some of them are making hideous faces. The uniforms are in different colors, which might be for different class years. The spear could be for marching, protesting, or Narnia.

A group of people went to a photo shoot to take a crazy picture with random objects. They are from a private school due to the fact that they are wearing uniforms. The lady all the way to the right is holding some kind of plant so I'm guessing they are by a water source. The reason they went to this photo shoot is to have a break from all the chaos at their school.
conall (philly)
That they are marching for their schools ,and going somewhere for a school activity. I can tell because of their uniforms because they are the same.
Erin (SMS)
In this picture there are kids in high school who attended a school field trip. The high school kids all dresses up in matching uniforms. They dressed up as characters from many different books that contain magic and sorcery. They have also brought along their staffs and other props to make this field trip seem just like the books.
Mario (SMS)
In this picture, a club at a private school is doing some sort of battle cry against another club. They are about to initiate in some sort of fantasy battle and are holding up some sort of staffs. They are making faces to show they are serious about this fantasy concept. They go to a private school and are wearing a uniform for their school.
Lavonda Lucas (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania)
In this picture I see that there are people wearing uniforms. So I think that these are kids at a festival making a funny face for the picture. They all are holding a stick so I think that they are dancing with the sticks as well. They all look crazy and funny. This could be a traditional dance at their school.
Kaitlyn (SMS)
This group of people are at a rally. They are trying to save the plants and animals on the Earth. Right now they are making a funny commercial to inspire other people to help save plants and animals. They want to appeal to the viewers by making a comedy scene. In another commercial, they will make a more serious scene promoting the rally they are at.
VTS Moderator (Los Angeles)
Hi @Kaitlyn! Sounds like you're thinking of the motivation behind this image, wondering if this is a scene from a commercial to raise awareness for the environment. What did you see that made you say they are interested in saving plants and animals?
Brianna C. (Stewart Middle School)
In this picture it looks like they are doing a dance called a Haka for somebody that died in war. A Haka is a dance they do in their religion for praising a person that has died in a war. In this dance there is also a car that they bring and they lay on the car. The person is inside the car. The person in the car is dead.
Savannah H. (SMS)
They look like that they are in a parade. They are having a lot of fun making different faces.
Jonathon Zepeda (Nipomo )
Teens doing an event for their private school.
Jordon (Sms)
In this picture, the people are kids in a school. They are doing their school cheer. The sticks in their hands are their spirit sticks. They are cheering on their team maybe for a peep rally.
Don (SMS)
What I think is going on is that they are celebrating a new birth of a family member or a fallen soldier that died in a war and they are starting to celebrate the loss of him in the war.
Brooke (SMS)
In this picture these kids are having a pep rally for their school. The school in participating in a soccer game. The students are cheering and holding up sticks to represent their school.
megan (sms)
In this picture i think these are school kids because they have a uniforms on. I think these students are cheering for something that is happening at school. They look like they are happy and some are being silly.
Lilian (SMS)
I believe that this might have to do with haka were they show respect to the fallen. Also Māori is a culture and that's where it might of descended from. Many of haka are very common around the world.
Mikayla (SMS)
In this picture, it looks like they are at a school, and they are graduating. They are very excited so they are celebrating. They have poles to show their school spirit.
Drew (SMS)
They are filming a movie. They are in a war. This film is a action film . I can tell because I think I see cameras in the background.
Margo (SMS)
In this picture I think they are putting someone to rest because they died in war or they are doing this chant called the haka. These teens might be practicing for when they get drafted.
Blake (SMS)
In this picture, I see a group of students reenacting some dance or a cry. I think that these students are doing this because they have a certain religion or any type of dance. The reason why I think this , is they're holding up sticks with really cool designs.
Will (SMS)
Maybe the people are celebrating something. It could be some kind of festival because they are all dressed the same. They also look very happy like they are having some kind of a party.
Haleigh (SMS)
The story behind this photo could be many things. But, my opinion about what is going on is maybe they are having a party, or celebrating a tradition. The reason I say this is because all the people seem to either have the same expression or something similar to the other people. Another reason they might be having a celebration of some kind is that they all seem to be happy.
Nick Foles (Philly)
It looks like a lot of people that looks like that they are going to have a party and there having a lot of fun
Jayden c. (philadelphia)
I think that they are privet schoolers that just graduated and there are exited to leave and they are having a celibration.
shyann (sms)
I think in this picture they are cheering for something exciting that happened and some are being crazy. I think maybe something at school or in their street that happened and they are cheering for it.
David Cordero (Pa, Philadelphia)
In this picture, I see the background, the uniforms and the expressions of the faces of the people is very funny. It looks like a film. So I guess that those people are actors and the picture is a segment of the film.
VTS Moderator (Los Angeles)
Thanks for sharing your interpretation of the image @David Cordero. What did you see that made you say this could be a film still? Tell us more!
Jacob Arreola (Nipomo )
Students from a native school celebrating some kind of freedom being represented by feathers on the sticks they're holding.
Meghan (SMS)
In this picture they are doing a Haka because of the weird faces and they are dancing. They are all joined together to remember the fallen, the ones who have died in battle. They get together and sing a song in loud voices and funny faces. Some of them are students because they are wearing a school uniform. Others are probably citizens of the town or city.
Destiny (@sms)
I see there are people running out to see the people that need to go into the main building in the back of the parade. As I see there is a parade going on to represent a military school that needs more people to come in because the rest of the people are leaving because there time is up to be here because they have been there long enough.
VTS Moderator (Los Angeles)
Hi @Destiny! Provide us with visual evidence for your ideas. What do you see that makes you say there is a parade? That this is a military school? That they need to recruit more students?
ty ur boy (fishtown)
The people are at a public school and they are in a play and they have to act like they're crazy and every single person has a role and as props they have to use like staff
Jesse (Sms)
In the picture I see a group of people. They are making crazy faces and I think that these students might be a class that is doing it and learning about it and how to do it.
Hunter (SMS)
The school is going to pick up trash with the stick and whoever picks up the most trash gets a reward. The school is trying to give back to the community by helping the ecosystem. They are in a big city because there is a building in the back. They are excited because it is the end of the day and they are going to find out who won.
VTS Moderator (Los Angeles)
Thanks @Hunter for sharing your narrative on today's image! Sounds like you're thinking about the ecology of this area and how these students are trying to support that. What did you see that made you say these are trash picking sticks?
Brandon (SMS)
In this photo, these people are students. You can tell because of the uniforms they wear. The students are cheering for their school teams. They are excited for the competition between the teams by the expressions of the students. The poles that they are holding have the color of the teams they are rooting for.
Daisy Gao (Santa Clara, CA)
I think every one is making a silly and crazy face in this picture. I can see some people open their eyes widely, especially the girl at right; her eye balls almost pop out. And some people open their mouths widely or stick their tongues out. They wear uniform, I think they may belong to a school association. Most people hold sticks, they may join in an event.
Jenny (Santa Clara, CA)
In this picture, I think these students are dancing a traditional dance. I think they are high school students because they wear three kinds of uniform like high school uniform. They have angry, scary and weird faces, so i might think they dance in a ghost day or the festival to protect human from ghost or bad things. The girl on the right of picture holds a small piece of tree, and her action is look like trying to drive ghost or bad things away. what is the logo on the center boy's vest?
S.Jin (Santa Clara)
I believe this is a certain event which is related to Maori warriors, and I found three reasons that support my idea. First, I can see the people whose tongues are out with big eyes. Second, they seem to scream to the front. Finally, they hold colorful poles with decorated by fur. I have seen these three things in Maori traditional events before. I have a question about this picture as well. Are they Maori people, or students who learn the tradition?
David james (cali)
i think this is a festival of supporting something from the college or youth organization due to their uniform. They are so excited and humor with long-out tongues. Or maybe there is a challenge here, they want to defeat something with a long stick on their hand. What is the festival name?
Nami (LA)
I think these are students and they are celebrating their graduation party. What they are doing perhaps is the traditions in their countries when they are in the graduation day.
ibrahim (california)
I think these people try to show their traditional dance at their special day. Maybe they are college students from New Zealand and they want to demonstrate traditional haka dance. I know that dance includes some movements and expression so these people's faces show us like this. I'm wondering about their clothes why these people don't wear also traditional dressing?
VTS Moderator (Los Angeles)
Welcome to the image discussion @ibrahim! You're bringing in your outside knowledge of the traditional haka dance to the conversation, affirming the movements and facial expressions shown here. It sounds like you're keeping the possibilities open and have questions about their dress. Let's keep looking together! What more can we find?
Aley (Santa Clara)
In this picture, I see the background, the uniforms and the expressions of the faces of the people is very funny. It looks like a film. So I guess that those people are actors and the picture is a segment of the film.
Anh (Santa Clara, CA)
In this photo, I think they are students, because they wear uniforms. I think these students are cheering for their school team. Look at their expression, it looks like they are very exciting because of the competition. Some students are also screaming, too. My question is what are the things they are holding?
chris (yup)
this picture is of students from a private school because they are dressed alike.looks like a rally because of there faces.
Jennifer Neidlinger (Lakota, ND)
These are students because of the way they are all wearing uniforms and because they all look young. They are celebrating something in their culture by walking or marching because of the way their facial expressions are. One guy looks like he's singing, and other people are holding plants or sticks to show some type of symbolism to their culture. They aren't in America because their crest on their uniforms is a different language.
VTS Moderator (Los Angeles)
@Jennifer Neidlinger thanks for sharing your ideas! Seems like you're thinking about the potential cultural symbolism and significance of the image, noticing a crest with a language other than English. What do you see that makes you say the culture they are representing is theirs? Remember to provide visual evidence for your ideas and keep up the good work!
Hala (CA)
In this week's picture, there are many people, and they are look like colleges because they are quit young. They might be cheering something in a competition, I think. However, I don't know exactly what kind of game, why they hold sticks. Look the emotions on their faces, they might be very excited. Such's silly faces, especially the young girl on the right side in this picture. I wonder that what is exactly event that they are attending?
WEI (Santa clara, CA)
In this picture, I see some people that they are college students because of their uniforms. They are not the same college because of their uniforms's color. They celebrate something. And taking a picture. All the students open their mouth. Some of them show their tongue out. I want to know what are they celebrate?
CiaraAOSE (New Jersey)
In this photo, we can see several young adults in uniforms holding some sort of stick. I believe that the clothing is part of a school uniform which all students are required to wear which explains why most of the young adults are wearing the same clothing. Since I believe that they are at school, I think that this photo could have either been taken at a school sporting event where classmates are cheering their friends on or at a school assembly. This assembly might be about ancient rituals, and the sticks in the photo could be ancient ritual sticks. I believe that the students are learning the what these sticks are used for and how to perform certain cultural rituals with them. When I look closer, I can see that the girl in the right foreground of the photo is holding some sort of plant. This could also be included as a part of the assembly where they learn about ancient medicines and healing traditions.

It’s a student body from a school in a different country taking a silly photo.
Bradon (quite creeping on me )
Students because of the uniforms are posing for a picture to throw us off for New York Times what is going on in this picture.
Jessica Ohlhauser (None of your business)
I think these are students (due to their uniforms) and they must be playing a game since they have weird sticks. They seem to be around high school seniors or college students. They have a different language on their coats so they must be from an Asian country maybe. They seem like they are posing for the picture.
VTS Moderator (Los Angeles)
Welcome @Jessica Ohlhauser! You and @Bradon are both thinking that this image doesn't look candid, but looks posed. What did you see that made you say that?
VTS Moderator (Los Angeles)
There has been a lot of speculation on identifying the people in the image and discovering where this image is set. @Aubrey wonders if is in Italy or Canada. @Kaylee and @Luke think it could be in the Middle East. @Arianna Valenti posits that this might be in Latin America. @Riley and others have suggested it is in New Zealand based on the text on the jacket badge. No matter where you think this could be, remember to look for visual evidence rooted in the image that supports your ideas! We can't base place on skin-tone. Keep looking and finding supporting details! Read what others have to say and remember you can comment directly to them via the "reply" button. What more can we find?
Brady J. (Winnetonka HS, KCMO)
In this photo, it seems as if there is a group of what looks like college students, maybe class mates cheering or celebration something. I say this because some of them look lie they could be yelling, and they look excited. They're holding some sort of pole that looks a pole vault in tracks dn filed
Anh (Santa Clara, CA)
I agree with Brady J. It looks like they are cheering for something, I think for their school team. Look at the expression, I think they are very excited. Some students are also screaming like they are cheering.
Audrey (WHS)
In this photo, there are several men and women cheering. They are dressed some what nicely. Some of them have their tongue out and I think that means they are really excited. They have poles in their hands and I'm not sure what they are for but it seems like they are at some kind of festival. It looks like there could be a school.
Aley (Santa Clara)
I agree with what you say. They look very excited and their faces look very funny. However, why did you think that they are participating in a festival? What makes you think that?
Kaelon DeVine (Winnetonka High School)
I think that this is a class of an academy or private school because of their uniforms. They're having a march or festival of some sort. By the expression on their faces they look like they've accomplished something.
VTS Moderator (Los Angeles)
Thanks for sharing your ideas @Kaelon DeVine! Similar to many others, you have noticed these students are wearing a uniform and might be marching or at a festival. Tell me more about the expression on their faces! What did you see that made you say they've accomplished something?
Jenny (Santa Clara, CA)
Hi @Kaelon DeVine, I agree with you that these people are students because of their uniform. You said that they accomplished something. They dance with weird faces makes me think they try to drive ghost or bad things away.
David james (cali)
I agree with you and I also have the similar thinking. My question is "what is the name of this festival? And it is organized in America popularly?". Can you explain for me, Kaelon DeVine? Thank you soon.
Jake (Port Orchard Wa)
It seems that people are getting ready for a game or sport, possibly a game called quidditch from the Harry potter series. What makes me say that is that they are all holding sticks that could serve as brooms, also they are all wearing uniforms.
Amber (Port Orchard, WA)
4/30/18 There appears to be kids out doing a haka dance, a Native American heritage dance. They all seem to wear semi-matching uniforms with a crest on them, which leads me to believe that they’re all from a school. I also see that they’re holding sticks, maybe it’s a part of the dance.
Danielle (whs)
these fake Harry Potter fans. they're like 30. seriously get out of high school
Santiago (Mexico)
In this picture, I think students are holding a parade of some sort of tradition. I see that they are holding sticks, which seems to me as a part of a ritual or something like that. I can also see that the students look like crazy, but in a false way, which indicates that they are being directed to act crazy for the ceremony.
hannah (sms)
This picture caught me off guard for a second due to the violent and aggressive expressions shown upon the faces of the people. In this picture I think this is a club/group that is doing a march or a meeting of some sort. Something that I noticed was that not everyone was wearing that black jacket, there are some wearing them and there are some wearing red shirts. This may be because some have different jobs in the group that are more important or more involved. Another feature I noticed is the aggressive faces, they can be sowed to intimidate others and show power of the team.
VTS Moderator (Los Angeles)
Hi @hannah thanks so much for sharing your thoughts! It sounds like you're really noticing your own initial reaction to the image. What did you see that made you say their facial expressions might seem violent or aggressive? That this could be an intimidation tactic? Let us know more of what you are thinking! Tell us what you saw in the image that made you arrive at this point.
S.Jin (Santa Clara)
Your idea seems very interesting. I agree with that people in this picture look aggressive and violent. I wonder the reason why you think this is a sort of a march.
Stefani M. (WHS KC MO )
There are a group of people that seem to be students because of the way they are dressed. They are making silly faces and seem to be having a lot of fun. I think school year might be over for them and they are excited for summer vacation.
CiaraAOSE (New Jersey)
Good thought that the cause behind the children's joy in the photo is that their school year is over! But look deeper into the photo. Why are these children holding sticks? Why are they still wearing what appear to be uniforms if the school year is over? Is it their last day? Also why is one of the girls in the photo holding a plant? What could it be for?
Hannah N (Old Forge NY)
In this image, there are what appears to be maybe highschool or college students in a crowd yelling with sticks in the air. I noticed that in this photo some people are yelling, or sticking their tongue out. There are also two different kinds of sticks, wooden and blue plastic. I also noticed that some people are wearing black dress clothes or a maroon dress shirt. Some people also seem to be holding leaves. If you look at the two people in the front of the photo they have a patch on their jacket. The patch says te kura kaupapa motuhake o tawhiuau which is a school in Murupara, New Zealand. I believe that there is an event or gathering happening at their school maybe for sports, school spirit, or politics.
Daisy Gao (Santa Clara, CA)
Hi Hannah, I think you observed very carefully. You figured out they are in New Zealand by the patch on their uniform. I agree with you.
Alyssa G (Old Forge, N.Y. )
In this picture, I see students that include boys and girls. The way they are dressed looks like they attend a private school. All of the kids are making wild faces and they have different colored sticks in their hand. I think that they could be at some kind of sports event or something that happens at their school every year. Another thing the students could be doing is getting out for summer break because they all look very happy. The girl to the right is holding a leaf thing. It looks like some sort of plant. I wonder why she is holding it.
Megan (Winnetonka)
In the photo it looks like theirs two different groups. One group has green and black on and they look excited. The other group is wearing red shirts and they have their tongues out. Each group has both genders and different attitudes. They have swordlike sticks in their hands rallying together for a cause. In the background I see a building that might be a church and a castle. I see couple of people without the swordlike sticks that are carrying a green plant.
VTS Moderator (Los Angeles)
@Megan thanks for looking closely! You've pointed out a lot of details and differences you are finding in the image. The two groups have both genders holding either a plant or stick, with their tongues out. What do you see that made you say these different groups are rallying together for a cause?
Fernando S (Guadalajara)
In the picture there are students that seem to be doing the native dance that people in New Zealand do. The dance has people making 'scary' faces and taking out their tongues. The people look like students and have school uniforms on. They may be in an event and it's also a way to start matches.
ibrahim (california)
I agree with you Fernando. I also think like you but I'm wondering about their clothes why these people don't wear their traditional dressing?
Alejandra Salame (ASFG)
In this picture this people graduated from high school and they are happy because they passed.
CiaraAOSE (New Jersey)
How do you know that these people graduated from high school? Are the clothes they are wearing part of a school uniform? Also, this photo doesn't appear to have been taken in America, and many countries structure their education system differently than ours, so how can we tell that they are in "high school?" Why are they holding sticks and a plant? Is this for the graduation ceremony?
dagon (sms)
These kids are protecting on a Harry Potter convention. The Harry Potter convention got shut down because someone broke in but the people that own the place wouldnt give the kids back their money. The kids got so mad the brought out there sticks and started shouting at the owners. They were so mad that they couldnt get their money back after the place got shut down.
Fernanda Ramirez (ASFG)
There are teens with uniforms which I think they are going against something or simply playing a game between schools. I don't know why they are making funny faces but they are also holding sticks.
Marifer Gomez Verea (Mexico, Guadalajara)
I think that this picture is from a simulation of a type of war or a strike because of the faces and expressions of the people. Also because of their uniforms.
regina s (mexico)
I think that they are in an event of a school were . they are shouting with joy. I think because most of them have uniforms and in the ack it looks like a scool
Ana H (Mexico)
I think that this is a festival or some kind of presentation that is being done my some high school teens. I see that this people have some kind of uniforms and I feel like there is a school in the background.
DCT (Virginia)
These young adults are marching proudly out of the Hogwarts School for gifted children(Chicago Mental Asylum). And these student have just received their Degrees(Certificate of Sanity) and are very excited to get started with their magic(Prescription Drugs). The parent of these young men and women are very proud (worried) and can't wait for them to succeed.
VTS Moderator (Los Angeles)
@DCT sounds like you've come up with a metaphorical narrative for this image. What did you see that made you reference Harry Potter? That there is an underlying story? That there could be alternative meanings assigned to your narrative? Provide us with visual evidence from the image.

In this week's picture the New York Times has traveled over seas. When they arrived to their destination the were greeted by the UWC (University of w]War Cries). The UWC was established for all cultures to come together in peace. It was doing so well that the people started to share stories of wars. Then it evolved to the people using different methods of war cries to make new ones. It became very popular and many students still attend and have came to welcome the people with their very own calls.
Sandra (SMS)
In this picture a horde of students are marching with colorful sticks to a festival. These kids are in high school and in middle school because of their classy uniforms and how tall the kids are. These kids could be celebrating freedom and that's why they are making these crazy faces with laughter.

The boy and girls are having a fun rally after all their good work on exams. They are making their own Harry Potter scene where they race on sticks. They are posing for a picture after they won against another school. They were seeing who could throw their stick the furthest.
Faith (sms)
In this picture, these people are celebrating that they won something. In this case, their town had gotten to take more land. They are happy about this because their town was packed. The people of the town are now going to march and charge around their new land they just fought for.
Kaylee (Port Orchard WA)
It could be a private school rally, hence the uniforms. The sticks they are holding could correlate with the message they are trying to get across. The people of the school seem Middle Eastern.
Makayla (Sms)
In this picture there are boys and girls in uniforms probably for school. Considering they are wearing uniforms, making crazy faces and holding sticks they are probably at a event or rally of some type. This event probably happens yearly. It looks like they are having fun.
Kayla (SMS)
In this picture it seems like the boys and girls may go to a private school because of their uniforms. The boys and girls are holding the items and making the faces they are because maybe they are going against their school for a reason. It may also be an event they hold at the school
Lesslie (SKHS)
College students are expressing their school spirit. Students that look like they are in their early twenties that seem to be wearing school uniforms and holding up “spirit sticks” with the school colors. They all seem to be making similar yet strange faces.
Montana (SMS)
In this picture a group of seniors got together to celebrate graduation. This school does it a little different than most schools though. They all march out of their class, holding decorated poles. They run out screaming and making silly faces knowing that they have a fun life ahead of them.
Leo (SOS)
Looking at the background this may take place in England or some other European country. This looks like they're from a private school the way they're dressed and there is some kind of fun event going on. They are all making crazy faces so they might be really psyched for what is about to happen.
Riley (SMS)
I think they are having a festival. They may have graduated from college and are celebrating. They have blue sticks with feathers on them. There are people in red outfits and blue outfits. This may have taken place in New Zealand due to the badge on their jacket.

I assume that in this picture they are all in a private school somewhere else in Italy or Canada. I think that they are going to play against another private school in a sport of some sort.
adriana (Port Orchards)
In this picture, a group of people, possibly students, are all wearing uniforms, holding long sticks, and making crazy faces. I think that because they are wearing uniforms, maybe they attend private school. Because they are all making faces and seem to be making some sort of noise, I think they could all be protesting, rebelling/rioting, or maybe celebrating a cause. The mood they are all portraying looks happy and excited.
VTS Moderator (Los Angeles)
@adriana you seem to be making a lot of connections from evidence you are finding in the image -- even thinking sonically about what noises might be heard based on facial expressions and the general mood of the image. What do you see that makes you say they look happy and excited?
Shi Wen Gunderson (Port Orchard)
In this picture, it looks like there are people cheering for something. It may be a special group that is a fan of something such as a movie, TV show, or book. There also may be different team for different things. In this picture, there people seem very happy and are making silly faces. They are also raising sticks/poles as if they are supporting an idea. They also have an emblem on their shirts. Many people are matching with either a red shirt or a blue sweater with a green tie.If you zoom in, the emblem says The Kura Kaupapa. When I looked it up, it was based in New Zealand and it was an immersion group for the Māori group.
VTS Moderator (Los Angeles)
@Shi Wen Gunderson thanks for your thoughtful comments! Your use of conditional language is helping to keep the options open to many possible interpretations of the image. When you found a piece of evidence you wanted to know more about, you did some research to discover more. Keep up the good work! What more can we find?

VTS Moderator (Los Angeles)
Many are wondering if there is a connection between schooling and this image. @Sandra thinks this could be college students in a rural place. @Ahre thinks we are set at a sporting event on a college campus. @Caitlin aose suggests that this is a student ban in New Zealand. Do you agree or disagree? What more can we find? Remember to cite evidence that you find rooted in the image to support your claims!
Laura L (Noga)
In this picture there are a large group of teens it looks like from two different schools because one group is wearing burgundy and the other group is wearing green. So they may be from different schools or different grade levels. They all seem to be holding staffs and screaming, probably a rally cry against rivaling schools or groups. This could all be a school against school competition for fun

I think that this is a tribal ritual for the native people of a land. I believe this because I know that the faces that these people are making are often used to reenact what the ancestors of the native people of certain lands used to do in front of foreign peoples. Also, the patches on the jackets of the man and woman in the front have writing in a different language, which could be native writing. The poles they are holding could by ancient tradition and part of the ritual.

Looks like a festival or a graduation where they’re celebrating something.
