Just her smile alone wants to make me root for her (while not knocking the quality of her awesome strokes and court movement). Go Madison!

If there is anything to learn from this year's Australian open it is that heart, determination, and nerves trump ability. Halep, clearly not the most talented ball-striker in the tournament, has survived via those qualities. If Madison stays focussed and hard as steel, she can win it all.

With her wrist issues the last couple of years it is so nice to see her doing well and smiling on the court. Such a great talent, incredible serve, blistering groundstrokes and aggressive game make her fun to watch. That she happens to be an American is just icing on the cake. A U.S Open finalist, deep into the Australian Open, she and her team should be proud.

Great going Madison! Keep up the good work! But as a tennis player, and fellow American, please realize most Americans couldn’t care less about our sport! It involves too much movement! And, I must compliment you on one more thing! Thanks for not grunting and screaming when you hit the ball! That, even turns off old blokes, like myself.

That second picture looks like they were playing tennis somewhere in orbit above Neptune.

I am grateful for Madison's perseverance - she is a great American!

No one cares about country loyalty when it comes to Tennis. This is not the Olympics. Go Roger and Go Rafa.
Tonjo (Florida)
You are wrong Tom L. The story is about the WTA and an American tennis player. I do care about loyalty to this country.

Rafa is super-talented, but has always been a fairly two-dimensinal player. Federer plays the game in 4-dimensions, and will take it all once again.

Rafa is one of two players to win the Golden Slam in the history of mens tennis. Rafa also won the Olympic Gold in doubles. Rafa also won 10 Roland Garros titles - no other man has won 10 Grand Slam titles. He is also the oldest man at age 31 to have the Number One ranking. Hardly two dimensional!!!!!
