Thanks for listing The Good Place first so I needn't bother reading further.

The only thing good about The Good Place was the end credits. Terrible

No Michael McKean for "Better Call Saul"? That's all you need to know about the Golden Globes.

"The Young Pope" should have been nominated for just being so darn beautiful to look at. The cinematography and set design were excellent.

IMHO, Veep and Will and Grace are tired so Nice Job, GG. SMILF is not compelling whatsoever so I don't get it, especially compared to the much more timely and better executed Master of None, Insecure and White Famous. That's an unsurprising bunch of diversity omissions though, which we've gotten accustomed to for all major TV and film awards.

No “Curb Your Enthusiasm”? What a waste of airtime and effort. Hardly representative. Hard pass ........

“Curb Your Enthusiasm” which is probably one of most highly acclaimed television shows, and the NY Times posts comments on obscure shows and comments?

The Young Pope was awful.

There is no "Will & Grace" without "Grace".

I’m not sure as to when women consistently scored such strong roles but I know that I keep falling for them. Deep crushes. Donna from halt and catch fire. Keri Russell from the Americans. Claire foy from the crown. Victoria from Victoria. And, oh my, midge from the marvelous mrs. m. So many good chicks. I’m a gonner. Thank goodness my wife appreciates my penchant for such admiration!

What? No recognition for Get Shorty? Chris O'Dowd, Sean Bridgers, and Lidia Porto were absolutely amazing!

I am really pleased with this year’s Golden Globe nominations. Normally there are way too many weird/not well-known shows that get nominated, but this year, I feel that they finally started going with shows that more people watch and know of. The one nomination that I want to talk about in particular is Katherine Langford’s, “Television Actress in Drama” nomination for the Netflix series, 13 Reasons Why. I know that this television show got a lot of mix reviews, but after reading the book in high school, I felt that it was important that this television show was made. It is controversial because it needs to be talked about. Bullying is pushed to the side way too much in our society. People think that if they ignore it, it will go away, but it doesn’t, and unfortunately, sometimes it does end badly, like it did with Katherine’s character, Hannah, in 13 Reasons Why. Throughout the series, each episode has a tape of Katherine’s character explaining to a specific person how their actions towards her caused her to get closer and closer to committing suicide. People felt that it was too graphic, but unfortunately, this is a reality for some kids, and I felt that it needed to be talked about. Bullying is a major issue that I feel 13 Reasons Why helped people in that same situation realize that they really aren’t alone. I think that is extremely important. Congrats to Katherine Langford on your first Golden Globe nomination!!

The Globes make more sense to me than the precious Oscars and predictable Emmys. I see these movies and watch these TV shows. Now will someone please recognize The Americans? An off season, but still the best show on television.

Watched the first 2 episodes of The Good Place Season 1 and didn't smile once. Tried it again at the beginning of Season 2 and had the same reaction. It seemed to me like they were trying to hard to be clever and the characters were not worth knowing. Tried The Good Doctor and have enjoyed every episode. It's well acted and I enjoyed knowing these characters. Based on the ratings and critical reviews of both shows, it seems like most critics and most of the public differ in their opinions. Not that one is right or wrong. Just saying.

Isn't the Golden Globes a huge fraud? 93 voters. 93. And I've heard that they vote based on who courts them through huge parties and bribery gifts and stuff. Why the deep analysis of who "edged out" whom? At least the Oscars is a genuine contest.

I don't intend to defend the Globes, but if you think the Oscars is some paragon of a contest you really need to read up on the history of the Oscars. Harvey Weinstein has produced a lot of very good films. So have a lot of other people, but they don't have Weinstein's success at the Oscars. Weinstein has been a master at manipulating the awards. The history of the awards is rife with such manipulation, oscar campaigns, studio block voting. The Oscars probably do have more credibility than the Globes, but that's not saying much.

It's insane that "Will & Grace" is nominated for Best Comedy and "The Good Place" isn't. Tells you all you need to know about these awards.
