Some guys really do have all the luck:o)!

I just burst out crying at work. I love stories like these! I'm such a sap.

AWWW... WITH THE WAY THE WORLD IS TODAY, I NEED "FEEL GOOD" ENTRIES IN MET DIARY. WHO'S WITH ME??!!
Bill (USA)
This deserves to be named the "Metropolitan Diary" entry of the year.
AJ (Tennessee)
Great story!!!
Chris (nowhere I can tell you)
Above and beyond hailing a cab. Hailing a happily ever after. Doorman envy big time here.
westchesterparent (westchester, ny)
Love NY style.
Elizabeth (California)
Beautiful story. Thank you.
Donna (NYC)
1. I hope Juan was invited to the wedding 2. Never, never underestimate doormen
Freddie (New York NY)
Please - can someone get a photo of Juan, Rachel, Andrew and Benjamin for when this wonderfully happy Diary item appears in the print edition?
Allen J. Share (New York City)
A wonderful dimension of this story is that it all began with Andrew's friendly greeting offered daily to the doorman over a two-year period. Had he simply been staring at his cell phone he might never have met the love of his life. Our streets are public spaces and we lose so much when we privatize them by going into our own little worlds absorbed by what is on a tiny screen or coming through a pair of ear buds.

It would have been appropriate to name the child Benjamin Juan Ginsburg.
Peter (New York)
If the child had been a girl I could also think of options for first names...
Nate (Breckenridge)
I hope Andrew and Rachel invited Juan to their wedding.
Billy from Brooklyn (Hudson Valley, NY)
I was expecting the baby to be named "Juan". LOL. Nice story. I'm beginning to see that a good doorman is worth his weight in gold.
Freddie (New York NY)
I'm going to have to atone really hard for using this old pun, but: Isn't this another example of Rachel profiling? Congratulations to all of you!
Robert (New York City)
Also proving that this doorman was Juan in a million.
common sense advocate (CT)
Awww...that's really sweet. And I never write gushy comments :)
valerie C (Rockaway Park, NY)
Hope the kid's middle name is Juan! Great story.
Pontifikate (san francisco)
I wish more people would act as intermediaries in the cause of romance. New Yorkers could certainly use it.
John B. (Sunnyside)
Benjamin?! I think there's Juan more name you might have chosen. Juan of these days it will hit you.
ItCouldBeWorse (NY)
I'm guessing this is a Jewish family. Traditional Ashkenazi Jews don't name babies after living people.
anonymous (New York, NY)
By the time I reached the end of your post, I was hoping you had named your son Juan!
jiminy croquet (switzerland)
cool. only in ny.
Art Kraus (Princeton NJ)
Hopefully the child's name is Benjamin Juan... :)
Bigsister (New York)
I hope Rachel gave Juan a very generous Xmas tip.
Miss Accountant (Philadelphia, PA)
Hope you invited Juan to the wedding!! Wonderful story.
Millie (J.)
A wonderful story. But it makes me reflect, Don't you-all pin your hopes upon A friendly doorman name of Juan He had a great match for Andrew But maybe not for me too, and you.
Shaun (Passaic NJ)
Lovely gotham tale with a happy ending. Perhaps I'm working out at the wrong NYSC.
jo (ct)
Wow, what a heartwarming story. Juan, you have reaffirmed my belief in the goodness of humanity when people choose to be so! Well done. Is the baby's middle name Juan or John I hope?
Nori Perez (New Rochelle, NY)
A love connection - NYC style. Juan came through in the clutch as cupid. What a great story to tell your child when they get older.
Dean (Connecticut)
Great story, Andrew. A sunny story for the start of a sunny day. (You took my mind away from Trump and the weather.) Thanks!
Nina (San Diego)
Charming story, charmingly told. Interesting to think that it might not have worked—or might at least have been more complicated—if it had been Andrew asking Juan to get Rachel's info instead. [not actually a reply, but somehow I can't find the "just make a comment" box]
