AMND is magic. I played Oberon in a school production in Atlanta. I found one of my fairies irresistible. We dated, fell in love, and have now been married over 30 years. We saw the Royal Shakespeare Company's AMND at Stratford-Upon-Avon on our honeymoon, and every production we could ever since. "So, good night unto you all. Give me your hands, if we be friends, And Robin shall restore amends." This play has restored more amends than I can count.

Thank you to all of you actors out there!

I saw the show Thursday night. The kisses were just one part of the most physical, acrobatic piece of fast-paced stage choreography of a Shakespeare play that I have ever seen. They brought the text alive in a way that makes all past performances that I've seen of AMND seem sleepy. The cast and audience collectively triumphed after a mid-ACT I rain delay. I hope they don't get rained out tonight. Bravo!

I was so fortunate to get to see the show this past weekend. Absolutely superb, kisses and all!

"...at least until the fairies roofie him" - is that really necessary wording? We all know the story but trivializing a date rape drug in the review of the play strikes me as obscene. Try explaining the wording of this review to your teenage daughters. Disappointed.

That's what I love about Shakespeare. Lust, sex, lip bruising, date rape drugs, clothes ripping.
Someone told me there's poetry in there too, but who cares about that? Certainly not we sophisticates who read the New York Times.

Oh my. Shakespeare is all of it. Poetry. Lip bruising. All of it. Why do you think we still read him, play him, create new versions of him? Because he is the entire human experience.

It's ACTING, need we say more?

Given the magnitude of the occupational hazard(s) involved in this career, seems
like the government should be prepared to step in and regulate things.

In Shakespeare's time, it was easy for people to fall in love. Their eyebeams twisted and wham! .In .Love. In teaching Shakespeare for many years, it was always fun to talk with students about such a method of falling in love, what it signfied, whether we wished we had that in the modern world.

Historically, a many of actors have met and fallen in love on sets.
Some even immediately dump their spouses/mates, ala Brad and Angelina.
Dating or marrying an actor takes a strong, confident individual. Ditto models.

We get a marvelous dose of "A Midsummer Night's Dream" here in Los Angeles at the Will Geer Theatrical Botanicum in Topanga Canyon, California. "Lord what fools these mortals be."

Playing Malvolio in a community theater production of Twelfth Night in Leonia, NJ long ago, I had to act convinced that Olivia had fallen in love me, and act half-crazed at the prospect of returning her romantic overtures, which were revealed in a letter cruelly concocted by spiteful members of the court. I had to imagine myself brimming with love for "my lady" who could hardly stand the sight of me, especially when I appeared before her, as requested in the bogus letter, cross-gartered and wearing yellow stocking. That scene was good for laughs.

I couldn't date an actress. I'm too jealous.

Indeed. One must know one's limitations. If I married one I certainly would have trouble attending her performances!
