I love when Maxine appears on shows like "All In" with Chris Hayes ... I stop what I'm doing to watch and I usually chuckle at her responses, which is the exact opposite of what I do when I hear Trump speak. Yes, she has some past baggage but the Democrats need more people like her to speak their minds loudly and clearly.
She has created an atmosphere of incivility. Can you imagine if somebody used her type of terms in reference to her?
16
Someone who speaks the truth! Keep it coming, Auntie Maxine. We need more voices like yours.
48
Rather than learn from millennials Maxine Waters needs to learn from baby boomers and retire.
She could also learn from Barack Obama, G W Bush, Reagan, Nixon Eisenhower, and Truman, along with countless mayors, governors and city council members all over the nation who face term limits.
She's been in "public service" since 1973. That "sacrifice" has given her access to insider information - her "investments" would put the average American investor in prison.

Maxine brought me back into the fold with the King/Drew Hospital issue. She's always been a fighter for what's right. I'm happy to call her a sister and a friend.
17
Real talk; that's what Maxine's about. We need more representatives like her.
18
Maxine rocks! We need more politicians like her and less like the spineless, greedy, selfish, sycophants that make up the Republican Party.
22
Why does she think Corey lacks credibility?
3
At 72 I believe less is more - "why waste my time" says it all.
29
No wonder some clueless millennials like her. If they read history longer than 140 words they would learn all about this political leech.
This woman is the west coast political "cousin" of Charles Rangel - except she has yet to face any public consequences (but did he ever, really?). She is just another has been old school politician seeking relevence
Auntie Max is and has been overpaid doing little in her job. That she does not even live in her district speaks to the cluelessness of these millennials who know little of her years serving her personal interests. OneUnited bank is one of the notable "Auntie Maxine" shams (her grandson took the fall for her but ethics panel still denied dismissal). She's passed 3, yes three bills in her 27 years of supposed "public service", said, earlier this year that Comey should be fired then condemned it and routinely pulls the racist card when out of facts or nothing to say.
Yup, a great example for all, huh?

Like Trump, Maxine's public elevation reflects America's growing divide. She has never changed and has always been a hard-charging, no-nonsense, progressive. I first met her in 1979, as a young Chicano professor who had her come as my guest at an LA Trade Tech Community College conference involving police-killings in South Central Los Angeles. Not much has changed and Maxine knows that. I saw her close up as a corporate lobbyist in California's state capital during the 1990s. Back then, a state legislator, Maxine is as dynamic and vivacious today. Her candor is a power with millennials that we Baby Boomers can learn from. I am hopeful this member of Congress can take use her charisma to now guide this emerging America to embrace her rough and tumble practical approaches to the changes needed beyond getting rid of Trump.
40
Love this woman. Go at it Auntie Maxine.
34
Representative Waters is too cool. I don't know what "shade" is about either, but give more Maxine.
18
Maybe Auntie Max is too modest when she says that a conversation with Trump "would be a waste of time." I disagree. I think it would be, or should be, a part of his education.
16
I do not elieve that DJT gets it.For him and his cronies, its only them, them and them and the money they can harvest. So Sad.
10
Ricardo, It would be a complete waste of her time because Trump has no interest in learning or educating himself. All the education he needs comes from FOX news.
15
It would be wonderful if she would learn to use reasoned restoring and civil discourse from someone, anything one.
5
Who's your model of civil discourse in Washington? Mitch McConnell, whose every word is a shameless lie, including "and" & "the"? Any one of a bevy of Tea Party Republicans in the House, whose every word drips with venom?
i love Maxine Waters - we need more Congresswomen and Congressmen to speak direct, unapologetic, and candidly. I know what her position is without guessing. She represents her district and the United States well
54
Too bad she doesn't actually live there.
21
To actually know this - you must not be a millennial!
1
You are either:
uninformed, or
having questionable perspective, or
not clear on the meaning of "representation", or
most likely, part of the corruption!

Hail Auntie Maxine. And keep telling the truth!

What a great American!
31
The only people who should be happy about Maxine Waters ascendence are Republicans.
Democrats should be doing some much needed soul searching as to why there is not a deeper bench of assertive, effective policy makers willing to do more than spout the latest fashionable diatribe or meme to solve the very real issues that put Trump in office.

Maxine Waters offers sage words for the electorate.
18
Love Auntie Maxine.
16
I love Maxine Waters. She is genuine. I love the way she takes Trump to task and tells it like it is. Maxine for President!
26
I've had a Maxine Watch among firends for probably 10 years. She never fails to entertain. Never mind Bill O'Reilly's comment that her hair looked like James Brown's wig; it's what's under it that counts and at this rapid exposure rate, we'll all know very soon.
6
"I would not waste my time" . Absolutely perfect. You are the best.
51
What Maxine Waters says continues to be more interesting and valuable than what anyone else says about her. Thanks for the profile.
47
waters is saving grace from total sleaze in power. i was always suspicious of her but recently read her long history of solid democratic congressional votes. she has always voted for women, for gays , providing government protection for the environment, against big corporate greed and corruption. she was one of the first to speak out strongly against the horror in the oval office. strong, powerful but smart in so many ways. not bluster but power. go maxine.
29
Go Maxine!
12
This woman is out of touch with the world she lives. We can only hope she and others like her, career politicians are voted out of office in favor for those that will contribute to society. If the politicians are against term limits, voaters need to limit their terms for them.
18
Sounds suspiciously ageist to me.

Dear Saint,
Really? One day, when you are old enough to understand we are not young forever, you will embrace folks like Maxine Waters and be thankful they existed to protect you. Protection of the American population is essential, because not all Americans are users, abusers, etc. One cannot rely upon folks who profit from their industrial endeavors to then control their own money making urges ecause the same protects employees, the environment, the law, etc. Ms. Waters protects those interests which are now being removed. As my now deceased brother-in-law used to say, 'dig yourself'!

She's known as Mad Max in our neck of the woods and not in a good way. She was voted one of the most corrupt politicians. Look it up. Her anger divides and means nothing because she can't be trusted. She gives handouts for votes. No, thanks.
28
Well all I can say is if she is so corrupt, why was she found NOT CORRUPT. Let's see wht Robert Mueller decides with reference to your guy, DJT!!
4
Because a family member took the fall for her. She was never exonerated by the ethics board.

While most follow the Mad Hatter down every rabbit hole, Maxine".. would not waste my [her] time. One of the many reasons Maxine is effective.
12
Go Auntie Maxine! keep the fires burning #impeach45!
11
Baby boomer who has long admired Auntie Maxine!
13
This is the problem with the Democrats. No new voices. How old is Maxine Waters? How long has she been in Congress? We need new leaders that young voters can relate to.
8
Are you saying that older leaders aren't okay but younger ones are?
5
I disagree with ageism, on both sides of the spectrum. Waters is a self-dealing crook and should be disqualified on those grounds, not her age (same for McCain and the double standard his illness signifies).
I won't insult young people by giving them positive discrimination. Politicians place a premium on the young for two reasons: 1) nostalgia for the 1960s, and 2) because they are cheap and impressionable labor with lots of free time.
Maxine is no Bernie. Any politician who appeals to you on a demographic level believes you are as stupid as Madison Avenue does. Don't sell your self-respect at such a low price.

Maxine and Bernie are great, progressive voices to be sure. Both parties seem to be lacking in young leadership -- not that I don't love the mature leaders but realistically the torch will have to be passed at some point.
