I saw the movie and the revelations about Trump are shocking and probably true. The various catcalls, slogans, and Clinton accusations came from Stone and Stone-tweets to a sponge-like Trump (birther story, Make America Great Again, Lock her up...) , who has been promoting Trump's candidacy for 30 years. Stone saw that getting elected is different than being the right person for the job - except for the job of getting elected. Who needs Russia when you have Stone doing the dirty work?

In the documentary, Stone proudly reads the inscription on a photo of Roy Cohn. Stone is proud of their relationship. Nuff said.

It doesn't get any better (worse) than this... can it?
I am a little frightened of watching it.

One day researchers will “discover” that unacknowledged dopamine-fueled addictions to power, attention, fame, status, and money are every bit as powerful, real, and destructive as the acknowledged addictions to gambling, alcohol, and heroin. Only then will the seemingly illogical and pathological behavior and existence of so many driven reprobates (e.g., Stone, Trump, Nofziger, Atwater, Cohn, Ailes, Rove, Cheney, etc.) make sense.
Same neurotransmitter, same depravity, same denial, same self-deception.
The biggest difference is that while heroin addicts are vilified, chastised, and arrested, power, attention, status, and money addicts are glorified, admired, and emulated.
Sickness is as sickness does.

Clinton (both of them) and Weiner could be in that list.

This is a portrayal of an operative who is without scruple, without principle, for whom "winning" and self-promotion is an intoxicating rush. In its own way it is more violent and disturbing than the most graphic fictional films as it is not fiction. One could easily see Stone as a jackbooted German during the holocaust, totally unrepentant.

I've always believed Roger Stone was chief strategist for the Trump campaign & is now the primary advisor for Trump's presidency. The 'firing' of Stone was fa charade for 'plausible deniability' in case Stone got into trouble. All the major ideas Trump's committed to - building the wall, that immigrants are rapists & murderers, outrageous racist attacks on Obama, proud strutting misogyny, smearing James Comey, continuing attacks on HRC, rudeness to Chancellor Merkel - all are cut from the same racist, outrageous, politically incorrect cloth that are Stone's stock-in-trade. Donald Trump's not smart enough to have come up with this on his own, to the extent it's a coherent strategy & not just chaos.
Stone made ten$$ of millions in political consulting (w/ his partner Manafort) providing access to some of the world's worst dictators & torturers - people Trump's now cosying up to. Stone, like Trump, is transactional & figured out how a rich jerk like Trump could get votes by presenting himself as champion for frustrated uneducated white people who think they've been cheated. It's a big joke that Stone & Trump figured out how to pitch Trump to these people because Trump doesn't give a fig about them, he's in this to enrich himself. But hey, Trump's president. And Roger Stone is finally a king maker. All the lying, dirty tricks, the embracing stupidity & racism Stone always championed was the winning ticket in 2016.
Roger Stone, you won. Shame on you.
Trump is president.

That tat ruined my breakfast. I'm mildly nauseous.

Crikey, there's a Roger Stone in this cast of political characters at The White House? Awful, we might as well have The Mafia and some Good Fellows lead the Nation because we are addicted to being entertained. When is America going to get serious and understand that this is not a reality show?
4
I just wish Pope Francis sees that movie before Trump stops for a visit. He might be even less enthusiastic to meet with Roger Stone's creation which is as close to the Antichrist as one could get, if it even existed...
4
Let us New Yorkers not forget or forgive Roger Stone's influence behind avowed racist Carl Paladino's hideous run for governor of New York State. If one is looking for the most notorious dirty trickster on the political scene today, Roger Dodger's your man. Anyone who hires him will go down in flames. When Trump signed up with this devilish disciple of demonizing destructive demagogic political shenanigans, he signed away his presidency. Hades awaits Trump.

Somehow opportunists like this capture the media and turn it into their handmaidens. Maybe some of us don't have enough to do.
Roy Cohn and Roger Stone and their ilk have elevated the art of personal attacks and neutering truth by promoting lies to the highest level of Government. An accomplishment no doubt, but an evil one by any measure. One wonders how Mr Stone sleeps at night.

Interesting documentary about a bad person. It is a little long and gets tiresome , but hey it's Netfix you can watch and do something else too. Worth viewing.

Looks like the Republicans remained unconcerned because they think they are in control. They could get rid of Trump anytime they want, and he knows it, they have Pence and Ryan as backups, and Goldman Sachs in charge of the economic end of things. Thing is by the time they do act, it may end up being too late and Trump will indeed be an authoritarian dictator with the FBI, CIA, DoJ, ICE and all stocked with hand picked loyalists by the time he's through with them. He might end up being harder to get rid of than they think. WillCongress be able to act fast enough if he decided to do something major like start a hot war with an opponent who would use nuclear weapons? We can only hope the military is still full of disciplined patriots that would wrestle him down to the floor before following orders that would ruin everything.

In the meantime, while America is having a severe political power outrage under Trump and his presidency, China is on the road to creating extraordinary infrastructure and a bridge to link eight other Asian countries to ensure safe passage for the future. Here at Home we are in a rut where the Nation is barely moving because of political and concrete road blocks. Calling on the Republican Party to get its act together, and perhaps the Democrats will follow in a concerted effort to restore our Country. There is the possibility of a looming global economic confrontation with China, and there will be no calling or 'Get me Roger Stone' in these troubling, turbulent adverse times.
Just finished watching the film. Disturbing, to say the least.
If you can stomach it, I'd recommend you watch it just to get a better understanding of how Trump got to where he is, and why he is floundering now.

I think one of the things I hate most about America is that despicable, amoral people sometimes don't go to jail. They get documentaries made about them. Sometimes they even become president.

Trumps association with the likes of Stone and Cohn explain a lot in who he is.

It demonstrates the chaos is hardly improvisational, it is orchestrated and deliberate. And judging by the last 114 days, applicable practically on a daily basis. The modus operandi is immediately recognizable. There are definitely some eye opening aspects to watching this documentary. It is a cynical approach which, when the timing is right, recognizes and exploits the worse human instincts, prevails and cashes in big time. No hesitation. Mercenary.

The title says it all...with a wry smile; like when Rush says his wisdom is "on loan from God." His and Trump's supra-humor still befuddles the likes of the NYCT and lazy "take him literally" mainstream media.
Clearly a 'sicko'; could have been worse though-the tattoo could have been Hitler, Mussolini, Stalin, Franco, Battista, Duterte, Mugabe....hey, there is room for more on his back.....maybe he can fit them all in. Meanwhile, can we deport him....to Mars?

Anyone who has any dealings with Roger Stone, this generation's version of Roy Cohn, needs to have their head examined. It's shrink-wrap time for Trump.

A fop who thrives on the limelight like someone else he knows! Nauseating....

Just watched the 2-minute trailer. Mistake to do so at this late hour. Will certainly have nightmares tonight. He's as creepy and disturbing as Chucky.
26
Trump orchestrated his campaign???? But orchestrate has more than two syllables.
People like Stone are denizens of toxic political swamps. He is the type who preys on the stupidity and cupidity of human nature. This kind of slithering fen dweller is always ready to whisper the lies of power in the ear of those ready to hear him. Those who listen go to jail. The reptile, unnoticed, simply slides into the brush.

one thing is for sure. Anybody who gets a tattoo of Richard Nixon on his back has got to be some kind of weirdo.

Looking forward to seeing it. Anyone with a Richard Nixon tattoo is ok with me.
Can't wait to see him on tattoo nightmares having his trampstamp of Nixon converted into a rose.

I'm going to fully support this effort by boycotting the documentary and everything Roger Stone sells. He hates anonymity but, it's the only thing he deserves.
5
This guy needs to be in prison just for the way he dresses.
4
Sasha Baron Cohen has gone too far this time.
17
Stone is nothing more than a very pale imitation of Donald Segretti. On his best days, he couldn't prank order pizza deliveries.
3
The fact that a president would think that he needs a person like this--diabolical, sneaky and anxious to inflict pain on others--proves that the president should be disqualified from his position.
11
My husband went to high school with both Robert Reich (several classes ahead of him) and Roger Stone (several classes below him). Both were student government president in their turn -- Reich was one of the most popular and respected presidents in a school generation, and Stone won his year via unprecedented dirty tricks.
28
I think I'll pass on this one.

Roger was skeevy back in college, and he's even skeevier now.

Sleaze all is much too kind. We all know the REAL word.

If history had no footnotes, men like Roger Stone could invent them and be complete.

Detestable connections and associates in his past ... BUT ya gotta love the way he mockingly disposes of the "Russia stole it" fanatics.
Let me get this straight:
The man “most well-known as President Donald Trump’s confidant and political adviser of over 40 years and often viewed as the architect of the Trump presidential strategy” 1) bragged about making piles of money as a lobbyist and offered no apologies, 2) helped establish a company earning the name "the torturer's lobby" and 3) has a tattoo of RICHARD NIXON on his back?!
I'm sure this article would easily be dismissed as fake news by Trump supporters who still want to believe he has their best interests at heart. What will it take to make them realize this man cares about no one except those with the last name "Trump?" The writing's on the wall, but they won't accept the truth unless it, somehow, comes from a talking head on Fox News. Sad.

This jerk is cut from exactly the same cloth as Trump. His life is all about calling attention to himself while he prances and preens around. Unfortunately this film simply plays to his unlimited need for attention, the more ignorant and outrageous the cause the better.

This article does entice me to go to the movie on Roger Stone, who seems amiable and sort of innocuous enough. But New York Times, this statement
"After a brush with Watergate..." cannot be true. You're stating that Roger Stone somehow was involved with the 1973 Watergate break in or plotting by Richard Nixon when he was just twenty years old seems highly implausible.
What is missing then, is did he get drafted into service during the Vietnam War? What was the status of his draft if he was drafted?

Ah, you don't know Roger. This is all true. And no, he didn't serve in Vietnam.
9
Roger was very young but he was involved in Watergate. He took some time off college to work on the Nixon campaign. I'm the film there is some footage of Senate Watergate hearing with young Roger Stone in it.
1
It's not a coincidence that Trump is so much like Nixon, and Roger Stone is the bridge between the two.
8
It's worth noting that in the review the word "Republican" shows up only once with the word "Convention". Not with any of the names. That's what they all were and are.
5
If Roger Stone keeps calling himself the "architect" of Trump's successful campaign, he may find himself in trouble. Doesn't he know by now that Trump, and only Trump, gets credit? There really isn't room in the White House for more than one hyper-inflated ego.
1
What an ugly little man.
49
Who? The president?
Oh Roger, that "somewhere" that Nixon is smiling is called Hell. And it's a grimace, not a smile.
44
My initial takeaway was "man, Trump's mental health has declined." I think he's just as rotten as he was at 35, but his ability to hide it, his ability to string together self-promoting lines, has turned into more of a tic than a sales pitch.
The broader takeaway I had, and perhaps it's just bleak self-preservation on my part, is that it's a great primer for how Trump was elected, and an even better explanation for why Trump is and will continue to fail. Chaos, and hate, and fear may generate the "interest" necessary to be elected POTUS - but suddenly, when you're sitting in that chair, perception changes.
You've got to start "fixing" those problems - and you've got to maintain the illusion - or suddenly, you're the reason those problems exist. Suddenly, people can point their finger and blame you directly for their misfortune. And stirring up more hate won't fix that. I have to believe that the same hateful rhetoric that got him into the seat, is going to send Trump packing.
