Fine, go ahead and suspend Harvey. Then please fire Collins. The Mets need a young, fiery guy at the helm.
Harvey is a cancer to the team.
There were rumors of his bad behavior even before this one surfaced.
And when you see the dugout, you see people like Wright, Syndergaard and deGrom chatting with each other, while Harvey is just there by himself, thinking that he is the royal king of team or something.
Mets should have traded him last off-season.
Now that his problem is apparent, it will be hard for Mets to find a team wanting Harvey.

Well we may never know the real story here. but if Harvey did not call or text anyone that is a problem. I'm not a Met fan but I can't imagine a player as important as Harvey is to the team not reaching out to someone.
Mets are looking like a joke these days. Thought they would compete before the season started but now....not so much. And who does this help? Because taking a high end itcher out of the rotation to be replaced by an also-ran isn't hurting the player , it always hurts the team. Who is running this trash fire? They are the ones who need to be let go.
Pulipher, Wilson, Isringhausen................
Is this deja VUONG all over again?

Awful. Was on the 7 train when I heard Harvey wasn't pitching and knew I was going to see a loss. The Mets were lifeless yesterday and looked bored as the Marlins walloped them. A waste of an afternoon.
Well. Something of interest in the dull-as-dishwater Mets. No matter that it’s sturm und drang. I might even start paying attention to the team again.
Matt Harvey brought a winning attitude to this team in 2012, which seemed to have forever disappeared during the so-called jerry manual era. He was brilliant for a year and a half, and gave so much that he pushed his elbow ligament past physical limits. When he came back in 2015, he gave everything he had once again.
To call Matt Harvey entitled or a primadonna is ridiculous and ignores the work and sacrifice He has given this Mets team. Those who don't believe he cares or that he doesn't work should look no further than his surgically repaired arm and shoulder.
Sure, he wants a big pay day. Wouldn't you? But would you get a rib removed for it?
Matt is not your whipping boy. He gave mets fans hope during a dark, dark era. He gave us a reason to walk upright and proud. When Harvey takes the mound again on Wednesday, I'll be wearing his jersey.

Harvey didn't bother to show up or even phone (or text) in an excuse. Syndergaard packs on 17 pounds of muscle in places likely to hamper his delivery and, ultimately, injure him. Both have given themselves nicknames from comic books. Grandiose nicknames.
Balzac said that a man given unrestricted opportunity to exercise his vices, with do so and destroy himself in the process. These juveniles are doing just that. Twenty-five year olds who act like 15 year olds are likely to be just as immature when they reach forty
Put them to bed without supper. Trade them for players who take their jobs seriously.

The reason he was suspended is because he didn't show up to Citi Field on Saturday.
Full disclosure: Met fan since 1968.
Harvey is way over-rated in every way: as a pitcher, as a person, and as an influence in the clubhouse.
It's never too late to make a trade. Do it soon.

It's obvious that Collins has lost the locker room and the clubhouse just as he has during his last two MLB manager tenures.
Let's not forget how many games Collins lost during the careers of all of these potentially elite Mets pitchers with his inability to manufactor runs and his admitted "I don't know much about picher's motions and their mechanics."
Collins needed to go years ago, he was a "bridge" as his expertise was player development. Even in that aspect look at the Mets inability to play sound fundamental ball, it's disturbing.
Add Kevin Long and the incessant need for the long ball well you have Collins' boring brand of baseball that even he can't get out of the way let alone manage.
Maybe deGrom, Harvey and Thor are just tired of seeing their efforts no talents go out the window as Collins blows another 2-1 lead on a bullpen formula that rarely works out.
Sad thing Collins a natural loser and never raised himself above single-A ball who was quoted as saying upon reaching the World Series, "We're here to have fun." While the Royals embarrassed the Mets on baseball's biggest stage. In about 30+ wins Collins will become the all-time "winningest" Mets manager.
Really Wilpons?
You want Collins to take over this stat from Gil Hodges and/or Davey Johnson? One a man who arguably should be in the HOF, the other a legendary NY baseball manager. Really?
Fire Collins & Long now and get some compentent baseball people in there to run the team.

What exactly is the point of Collins' declining to explain the reason for Harvey's suspension? The press has its sources, after all, and doing a "no comment" will only feed the speculation and make the actual rationale seem even worse than it really is.

"He had season-ending surgery to alleviate thoracic outlet syndrome." Curious, I did a little digging about this condition, which (per Wiki) especially affects MLB pitchers. The problem, thus, is caused by what he does on the mound, and therefore, pitching a few games is going to cause it to flare up again.
I hate to say it, but this guy's days as a pitcher are numbered. In single digits.

Didn't David Cone have this surgery and come back successfully?
Harvey had to fill in for a scratched starter for the second time in a week, he said that he was not used to being called upon on such short notice.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Adam Wilk didn't even offer that up as an excuse. If Harvey had any dignity or sense he would not be challenging his suspension. But instead of those two qualities all he has is entitlement and no shame.

The New York Mets: entertaining Yankee fans since 1962!

Harvey worked his way back from two major surgeries for a pitcher. He was a top dog before his injuries and working his way back. To suspend such a player for three days, including a start, is idiotic. Three days is a penalty for a minor infraction--you do not suspend a potentially star player unless it is something major, and then you suspend for a lengthy period and justify it to the union. From a team whose management has shown repeated evidence of incompetence in managing pitchers and looking out for the best interests of its players, this is not chicken salad but chicken ____. Alderson deserves special mention as looking out not for the well being of players but carrying the water for the icons of integrity who own the team.

It's seem to me that there's a lot we don't know at this point. Did Harvey actually have a "migraine"? When called on to pitch the other day had he really undertaken such a debilitating workout? The sense I've had from reading the Times and other coverage is that Harvey has had some difficulty in doing what he's supposed to do for a while. Perhaps that's not true. So perhaps it's premature to condemn Alderson--one of the more self-disciplined and careful managerial types I've seen--and to talk about the idiotic and the excremental.
Back,
that's baloney. either you're team player or not. if you've hyped yourself like Harvey and Boras have, then you lead by example; you don't look for excuses, you don't put management in the awkward position of suspending you or saying the rules don't apply to you, and you don't sow rancor in the clubhouse.
Harvey is selfish, and it's not enlightened self-interest that helps the team or him frankly. Considering how frequently he suffers major injury, is he a show horse or work horse?
I say banish him to some basement dwelling AL team and we'd never see him again (except for an idiotic interleague game). This guy will be always be a headache, and I suspect he just doesn't care whether he is or isn't. He and Boras seem a perfect fit. Dark Knight? I can think of better nicknames but this is a family paper.

This is New York, nothing stays secret for very long. I guarantee you that we'll know which team rule Matt violated no later than Tuesday!
That reputable journalistic publication AKA the NY Post, is on the case!

That'll show him. He won't miss a single game, but he'll have time to reflect on his mistakes.

Harvey had one good, not great, season in 2015. Yet he has always been treated in New York like a HOF pitcher.
10
This has to be the most bizarre thing I've heard this season, and for the Mets, that's saying a lot.
6
From the "Dark Knight" to the "Late Night." So long.
8
Now they'll be lucky to win 40. Can we blame the Wilpons for fostering such a weird vibe at Citi Field?
Trade him already.
6
Should have traded him after the Series. All the signs were there then-he had missed a workout before the World Series! This sense of entitlement is causing team distractions-I guarantee he is disliked intensely in that clubhouse.
Wilpons sleeping on the job again.

The reason he wasn't traded is because he's probably untradeable. For example, his medical issues were going to come up (the Mets can't legally hide the issues they are aware off). He isn't worth much if he has medical issues dogging him.
Somebody know what's going on. Fess up.
22
Word is he didn't show up for Saturday's game and didn't even bother to contact the team about it.

On the bright side there was an All-American moment on one of the tv broadcasts a few days ago -- Conforto and Bruce sitting together on the bench, talking and smiling.
