This film opens up our eyes and suprises uswith the things we usually don't think about where they came from. This film gives us the history of our knowledge. Why do we know the things that we know today? well the reason for that is because of the fact that many people( scientist) were curious about many things and whent out to dicover the things that they did not know. It is such a surprize to see where and how far that science had come from. From not knowing much at all to having access to books and research available to us for almost all the questions that we have. A message that can be taken from this film is that Curiosity is why knowledge exsist and it is the building block of our exsistence.

This film shows how dedicated Mary Leakey was in finding historical evidence that involved the discovery of human footprints. Mary Leakey was a famous paleoanthropologist that would always work hard and she never gave up until she was satisfied with what she found that day. Mary was unique because there were very few female scientists during this time but that didn’t stop her from continuing her passion. She was one of the first to use a different type of method when looking for the discovery of early human ancestors. An elephant dung fight led to the discovery of a fossilized animal print, which goes to show that discoveries could happen at the least expected moment.

this documentary was very interesting because it talked of Mary Leakey's discoveries of the human ancestor. the moment that stood out for me was when she had discovered the footprints of our ancestors. this really surprised me because i did not know that humans looked that way or that you could even find their foot print. i am glad that there is people who are actually out there finding out more things about humans cause there is so much more we can learn.

This film talks about a paleoanthropologist named Mary Leakey. Mary Leakey discovered footprints of human ancestors on the African Savanna, thanks to her intelligence. Mary Leakey inspired people to be who they are. Mary Leakey was able to change how the world is today. Today her history is still remembered. Working in the field of work, Mary Leakey was able to go to the past and find the footprints. This shows that with simple evidence and common sense we are able to know the paths of our ancestors. Mary Leakey also had a lot of patience, which gave her the results she expected.

The moment in this film that stood out most to me was the fact that they just happened to stumble upon such legendary footprints during a game of throwing elephant dung at each other and that was surprising because so many discoveries happen during intense studying and analyzation, but they were able to enjoy themselves and find out many truths about human history while they were at it. A surprise is that Mary Leakey was actually a smoker and a drinker and had quite the bold attitude and that’s surprising because I usually think of paleoanthropologist as quiet solemn people who enjoy spending their time studying the simple, but very important parts of human life – its history. A message that this video provides is that great things can come from strange and random places and as long as you are enjoying yourself, you will find your great thing.

As someone who finds most aspects of science very interesting, this video not only serves as an example of determination, but it also informed me about where all of our ancestors came from and how they walked. This film is about Mary Leakey, a famous anthropologist who was dedicated to her work of digging to unlock the secrets of the human’s ancestors. Hs was a dedicated woman and even searched for two years before finding the footprints. This shows that dedication truly pays off if you are able to be patient. As long as you are dedicated and patient, good things might come to you.

I agree with you on this. These scientist really wanted to know how we humans canme about and they did everything in their power to conduct envestigations and prove to the world that their is more. They knew that their was something beyond our knowlegde and they went to chase history down to fufill their curiosity and redeem the knowledge that was unknow to human kind for such a long time. By these few people went above and beyond to unlache the box of knowleg=dge that was waiting to be revealed.

In the short film "Animated Life: Mary Leakey" filmed by Flora Lightman and Shattuck. Shows a documentary in animation of the famous anthropologist Mary Leakey. This documentary talks about Mary Leakey hard working, never giving up, attitude. The film tells stories about her love for her dogs. Many people want to know the history behind humans. Majority of the people around the world ask many questions related to who was the first human? How were humans created in a world where scientists once said their was no living things? How did they survive many years? Mary Leakey had similar questions, but unlike those people Mary Leakey took action, she and Luis Leakey her husband set of to Africa. Luis Leakey and Mary Leakey were a great team while Luis Leakey sponsored is wife. Mary Leakey ancient artifacts, such as her great discovery of human ancestors footprints on the Africa savanna. Mary Leakey contributed in the discoveries of Paranthropus Boisei (1959) and Homo Habilis (1964). Mary and Luis Leakey's determination to search for answers of our human history allows people to become one step closer to finally figuring out our Human history. To add on Mary Leakey is an inspiration to anyone scientist in the world.

I agree that Mary Leakey and her work is very inspiring, she spend a lot of time in uncomfortable places like the African Savanna under the sun trying to complete her goals and contribute to our knowledge of human origin or ancestry. She and her husband, Louis Leakey, discovered many ancient artifacts or remains. I was surprised at how much she loved her dogs, she give them butter even though they are rationing some of their foods. Her discovery of the footprints which show when human ancestor began walking on two leg was a result of her determination, this discovery allow human to better understand their origin.

I thought that this weeks film was very interesting. It was about a paleoanthropologist named Mary Leakey who was looking for human origin and past human events and bone structure. She is a very dedicated worker, sometimes taking several months, even years to finish a project. We saw this as she spent 2 years looking and finding a footprint, which shows how dedicated and determined she is.
Yeison Castaneda (Wekiva High School)
I agree with you about Mary Leakey being a very dedicated person when it came to her projects. She spent so much time trying to find information that could lead to a discovery of a human or animal fossil. No matter how long it took to find some sort of evidence, Mary would keep on looking. It showed us how much she loved doing this, not to mention that she was one of very few people to look for these fossils and artifacts. After all this time, Mary finally found a fossilized animal footprint and it showed me that hard work pays off.
Christina P. (Florida)
You are so right she is a very hard worker, taking that much just to study the snippet of the things that occurred such a long time ago is wonderful. She is such a great figure, one that is unfortunately not celebrated enough. Like many other hidden people that work behind the scenes to create the lives that we have today and to also help us to understand our own origins and make up better. I think it is so important to recognize people like her who have put so much hard work into bettering humanity and I am proud to call her a fellow female.

The film talk about a famous paleoanthropologist named Mary Leakey. She was dedicated to her work, using careful methods to dig up remains and she was very determined to find out about human origin. Mary and her husband greatly contributed to the search and found many remains of human ancestors. She discovered track from bipedal human ancestor that is preserved with volcanic ash. The moment that stood out to me was when it took her two years to find the footprint because it show how much time she have to put into her work and how devoted she is to her goals. A message you can take away from this film is that people have to stick to their goals and work hard in order to achieve anything.
Zac (Florida)
I agree, I like how you mentioned how hardworking she was and what kind of work she was in and what she was looking for.
Korynne Johnson (wekiva highschool)
I totally agree with Tran P. statement "A message you can take away from this
film is that people have to stick to their goals and work hard in order to achieve anything". Mary Leakey is an inspirational scientist who gives people the motivation to strive for your goal, never give up, and to be persistent. Without Mary Leakey's dedication in her field of work, the human race may have never found out even half the stuff Mary Leakey discovered. I also agree with Tran P. great example of Mary Leakey dedication "when it took her two years two to find the footprint", many people would have gave up.
Shaniah W. (Apopka, Florida)
I too believe that she contributed to the scientific community because of her discovery, especially since this discovery proves that the Laetoli people walked on two feet, like us. I cannot believe that she spent two years searching for this tracks. If it were mean I would have given up because I would have lost hope. Not only did she not lose her hope but she stayed determined through the hardships she must have encountered. The message is definitely something that can be followed by mostly everyone because it can apply to anyone in any kind of situation.

Please add subtitles to the Mary Leakey video. I would like to show this video to my Deaf students. Thank you.
