CYCLER REASONING

A bicycle vet
Told me something I like:
Buy a hundred-dollar lock
And a fifty-dollar bike.

I did as suggested,
And am not reminiscing--
That night the bike was there
But the lock was missing.

$5M seems to be the sweet spot for settlements these days.

Oh, how I wax nostalgic… To be in the 20s again!

Can anyone explain why Cuomo needs to be in NYC and Buffalo on the same day? It would seem that, in the name of efficiency and expediency, it would be better to organize the addresses on a geographical basis. But I guess efficiency has never been a prerequisite for government service. (And this comes from a long time government employee).

The Speech-a-thon is an amusing epitaph to Gov. Cuomo and is old school Democratic persona. The era of the big "Liberal" pols in finished. Clinton proved that theorem. Time for change and new blood. A desperate round of Speechifying is the last thing we need.

There are few things as wonderful (and peaceful!) as taking a run through the snow in New York -- especially in one of our many beautiful Parks.
Vermont has nothing on us!
Thanks for the Brrrrreakdown, and Happy New Year! Ms. Levine.

Great news! I think it's important to add that the tuition costs that Cuomo will cover include city and community colleges/universities, not only state colleges/universities.

As a REAL New Yorker (by almost anyone's criteria as defined in yesterday's column), I can attest to the fact that when the temperature is perfectly aligned with a few free moments during our busy days, New York snowflakes are just as awe-inspiring as those anywhere else in the world. Have a good and snow-free weekend Alexandra!

Super article on snowflakes!!! FYI the link to Kenneth L. (snowflake expert) is a dead link. Keep the great stories coming! I'm enjoying my digital subscription to the NYT.

Good morning Mary,

Thanks so much for the heads up — we've fixed the link. Have a wonderful weekend!

Best,
Alex

A tribute to Dr. Libbrecht and his great studies.

Tune of California Dreamin'

All the streets off-white, traffic looks okay
I walk with my dog on this Three Kings Day
Snowflakes were well formed, expert says from LA
California science on my Manhattan Day

Stepped into some slush that's turning slightly grey
The snowfall was a tease, my dog can't even play
You know he really wants a storm
When will one come our way?
