It will be a day “of celebration” when those of other faiths or no faith “can look forward to” holding a parade in Muslim-controlled lands.
Vincent Campbell (Randolph NJ)
it would be great if the Times gave comparable positive coverage to Christianity as they do Islam, a supposedly peaceful religion, and 10% of the coverage they give to Judaism

Because there is NO NYT coverage of Christmas and Easter...
Girish Kotwal (Louisville, KY)
Eid al-Adha Mubarak to our friends of the Islamic faith and Shalom to our Jewish friends on Rosh Hasshanah. When people of faith gather to bow to their God, it is always a very beautiful sight and one that people of all faiths should cherish without reservation. This is the American way of peaceful practice of religious beliefs.

MAD MENU

The cashier eyed me
With some suspicion--
I wasn't the customer
That he'd been wishin'.

Plus the diner sign
Was inelastic--
"We accept cold cash
But not hot plastic."

“Here’s a problem for those stepping out of the office to vote in the primaries today: It’s going to be hard to go back.”

Tune of “Stepping Out With My Baby”
(a fantasy of how that might go, but you never know!)

Stepping out to go vote now
Can’t go back, the day’s so great
Time to ditch that suit coat now
Indoor work will have to wait

Stepping out from the booth now
Hope the boss will understand
‘Cause to tell you the truth now
Those blue skies are far too grand

What’s a good living if you really don’t live?
Think real fast, what lame excuse can you now give?

Stepping out, made that call now
Told the boss it’s a lovely day
He laughed, tomorrow give your all now
This afternoon, stay out and play!

Love it. Thank you, Freddie!

How come the NYT never covers Christian religions?
Billy from Brooklyn (Hudson Valley NY)
Matthew--
Likely because Christian gatherings are very common. New York City is similar to perhaps two hundred neighborhoods, each with their own Churches, Mosques, Temples, grocery stores, civic centers, delicatessens, movie theaters etc. There are Christian events on a daily basis.

The Muslim feast of sacrifice is unfamiliar to most of us, and is interesting to learn about.

Is the Pope not Christian?
DW (Manhattan)
My feelings exactly. Top of the page.

And to the poster below, the Pope and Catholicism is not Christianity. Catholicism is paganism with a sheen of Christianity over it. the Catholic Church doesn't follow the bible - in fact it rewrote key parts of it. There is no "vicar of Christ" or priests as intercessors/middlemen between us and Christ -- that possibility was done away with when Jesus died on the cross and the veil of the temple was rent in two. There is absolutely no Mary/Queen of heaven/Saint worship in the bible - the opposite in fact.

“an orchestral West side Story”
Listening in as the older Anita and Maria desperately want to go to the screening.

Tune of “America”

[Anita] Philharmonic, with West Side Story
Great score in all of its glory
Always the classics are playing
Always they’re worth what we are paying

[Maria] Philharmonic, we feel bereft now
Seems that no tickets are left now
This is a sad complication
We must search for a cancellation
What a situation!
But there’s no denying
We will keep on trying

[Both] We were so foolish to hold out
Who ever knew they’d be - sold out

We like to hear that great Orchestra
Score is so clear with that Orchestra
Treat for the ear with that Orchestra
[Anita] Will seats appear for that Orchestra?

[Anita] Too bad the tickets are all gone
[Maria] Let’s both keep phoning and hold on!
[Anita] I hear the mastering’s top-notch
[Maria] We’ll get in somehow, you just watch

No other sound like that orchestra
No one around like that Orchestra
No one renowned like that Orchestra
[Anita] No seats are found for that Orchestra

[Maria] I found one seat in the last row
[Anita] Why don’t you take it and you go?
[Maria} Wait, there’s one seat now in row U
[Anita] So does that mean I can go too?

(celebratory dance, then: ]
Okay!
