This will only strengthen Warriors resolve to win the championship tomorrow and dam the door on cavs.

LaBron should have shown more grace. As Lady Chablis said, two tears in a buck't, mother f***'t.
I feel sorry for the city of Cleveland.
First they're going to fail to win the NBA title ... again, despite being aided and abetted by the NBA front office ... and then they have to roll out the "Welcome Mat" for Trump.

Bad call on NBA's part. Inserting itself in this way is a clear example of trying to extend the series when the outcome is clear.....the Warriors are a better team than the Cavs. The story of King James is a myth.
10
ha. the nba is trying to make up for the oklahoma city game, when green clearly should have been suspended (but the nba didnt want to be accused of affecting the outcome of the series by suspending him, so they didnt). green is the nba's dirtiest player.

Draymond takes a lot of risk, and I believe that he knows it.
The NBA suspended Draymond Green to give Cleveland a ghost of a chance in Game 5 and increase viewership.

Having lost on the court, James resorted to pushing and pulling and holding Green and Curry illegally, not too concerned he would be called. Curry didn't fall for the bait, but Green did unfortunately. Ironically, It would have helped Cleveland even more if Love was suspended because he isn't athletic enough to compete in this series. Green is a great player and competitor who momentarily forgot the context of being up 10 points with the game already won. Next time, he will think ahead like a chess player.

GARBAGE call, the kind you'd expect from the NHL or similar garage league.
LBJ stepped over Green, which is an absolute non-starter and should have been called for a flagrant foul outright, but then this is a league where Michael Jordan can lead the league in steals yet never foul out of a game.
This is as dumb as it gets, but then I am not a fan of either team, or the NBA.

Peter Godell must be giving advice to the NBA. The refs lose control of the game (Iguodala was mugged at the end of the half...nothing called) so to save face, they punish the Warriors and Green. James had as much to do with the fracas as Green (walking over a prone body) but, of course, he's the King.
Sad day for the NBA and I hope GSW runs the Cavs out of the gym

James went out of his way to step over Green, when he could have disentangled himself less aggressively. To penalise one of the 2 instead of both is unfair, especially in a final. With no referee call at the time, how does the NBA justify its post hoc officiating? maybe they would like to change the result too?
5
The refs in Game 3 gave the game to Cleveland. The refereeing in the first quarter was so lopsided in favor of the pathetic Cavaliers that I turned it off. LeBron James is totally overrated and a Magic Johnson-caliber crybaby. He relies on the officials and he has the same face when he doesn't get every call. Despite the league baloney, Golden State will win Game 5 and the series.
3
I don't see how it should be possible to call a flagrant foul after the game is over. You can't award the required free throws plus possession of the ball, so it's not procedurally correct.

A cynical but financially sound decision that likely will extend the Series at least one more game and proportionally increase
television and other associated revenue.
television and other associated revenue.

It looks from the repays that James was the clear aggressor on the play and in the game. In this instance, therefore, it seems that the league might be acting out of frustration that the Finals are lopsided, the cavaliers are going away, and they won't be able to sell more ads.
Since the league has a vested interest in keeping the Finals going, and since their former "star" LeBron is fizzling, this smacks of self-interest, not justice for/to Draymond Green.

The referees were clearly not calling fouls throughout this game. But then LeBron James whining, whimpering and wailing registered in the NBA suites. James has no Magic nor Air nor Mamba nor Bird Kingdom. Time to Splash the Cavaliers! Go Warriors!
9
LeBron clotheslined Curry in a play subsequent to his gratuitous homage to Christian Laettner's step on the chest of a downed player dominance routine with Draymond. Curry who rarely does chippy in-your-face trash talk can be seen vehemently yapping at LeBron. All three refs apparently were struck with simultaneous night blindness and missed the flagrant 2 on the current MVP by the past MVP. If Green gets suspended for trying to wave off a player who knocks him down and steps over him (bush league dominance move by James but also calculated to keep Green out of the ensuing action) how does James not deserve the same for his cheap uncalled flagrant on Curry?
Oh I forgot, it's the play-offs and we're playing with Nike Rules. That's when any player who gets $50 million a year to peddle fashion sneakers made in China is immunized from suspension.
Looks like the NBA won't have to replace Adam Silver with Vince McMahon after all. Next up: cage match games between power forwards playing in pads and helmets?

Well, this is neat. With Draymond Green not playing game 5, if the Cavs lose it (and the series along with it), what are the Cavs and LeBron going to use as an excuse?
I did find it strange that Lebron climbing over Green was not a mitigating factor for Green, as there was plenty of space for LeBron to walk around, instead of over Green.
So the myth that the referees and the NBA tilt toward LeBron may not be a myth.

This man should be debarred for life; he is not and probably never can be a sportsman!
If it was game 7, Green would not be suspended. Or if it was Lebron James that did it, no suspension. Let's face it, the NBA wants to extend the series.
Every year, the NBA is looking more and more like fake wrestling.

It really appears that James threw Green to the floor, and Green was simply getting up.
The NBA is trying to give the Cavs a chance they otherwise wound not have.

Having watched the incident in question:
- Green tangles up James' arms repeatedly. Those weren't basketball moves he was engaging in, when James threw him down.
- Green grabbed James' leg while he was down.
Danny Crawford allows play to continue through all of this occurring directly in front of him, when in fact he should have stopped play.
- James, with Green on his leg, tries to step over Green.
- Green headbutts James in the crotch. James is understandably upset, it turns into a jawing contest.
Danny Crawford still does nothing.
- No whistles are coming, so both go back to playing, get tangled up again going for the rebound, and that leads to double fouls.
I'm not sure why Crawford ignored this, when he's usually quite strict.

"Green headbutts James in the crotch. James is understandably upset, it turns into a jawing contest."
That's flat out inaccurate.
While LeBron steps over him, Green swipes up a LeBron's crotch with his forearm and hits his genitals.
Not super hard but still.
I'm a Warriors fan but the guy had three warnings and still felt it necessary to hit another player in his genitals.
He needs a lesson - for his own sake.
It will make him a better person… or not.
If they win with him not in the building that will be something he never forgets. He let his squad down.

You must have watched through rose colored glasses given the Cleveland location. I don't know what you were looking at.

@Dave
Crawford ignored it because that's not what happened. Regardless of Green's effective defensive moves on LeBron, it doesn't justify shoving someone to the ground and then intentionally step over him as he's trying to stand up. What LeBron was doing -- besides a bush league dominance gesture -- was stepping over a downed player to prevent him from getting back into the play action. Maybe it's the water in Cleveland but seems like Cav fans saw a head butt, a fist, an elbow, a Ninja death stab, a secret Brazilian Capoeira neck thrust (remember the dubs have two Brazilians on the team), and a Thai boxing trick involving the lower mandible thrown at LeBron's nether parts.
Generally Crawford can be relied on to do nothing when nothing happened. About the only thing you get right is that Danny's usually quite strict.

Kicking or hitting your opposing players in the nuts is an intimidation technique. One game is not enough. Suspend him for the rest of the playoffs, and for the first 20 regular season games next year.
14
You are referring to LeBron, right?
3
Golden State can beat the Cavs but can they beat the NBA?
20
wow I just watched the clip...looks like James was the aggressor. Pathetic....and I'm a complete outsider.
37
The NBA seeking to extend series makes a flagrant call to suspend Green after sitting on it for a few days.
35
Lebron was clearly the instigator, are you kidding me!! I can't imagine an nba fan outside of Ohio that isn't outraged.
38
Even during the game the commentators made reference to the fact that the refs were 'letting things go', which actually means not calling fouls when they occur. Now the league decides to step in after the fact and level a flagrant foul. As Click and Clack used to say, "Boooooogggggguuuuusssss!!"
Go Warriors!
Go Warriors!
25
Its because Lebron said after the game "I'm sure they (NBA officials) will look into it." Given how the refs "let them play" all game without calling many fowls would they have looked into it without Lebron's prompting them to?
3
I'm not a fan of either team but a Sixers fan by birth. Do not like the league interfering in this matter. I know Green has committed flagrant fouls in the playoffs, but in this case it appeared Lebron was the aggressor. I've heard several NBA player characterize the incident as "playoff basketball." Lebron seemed more upset with the verbal trash than the slap to the rear, which was preceded by a shove by Lebron and a willful stepping over of Green. Looks to much like the NBA wants a 7 game series.
50
League interference??? What's the point of having flagrant rules if the argument is always, the league shouldn't determine the results??? That's abused. Green's actions have determined the results. The league interferes when it does nothing. The fact that green has gotten away with numerous gonad assaults is indicative of the type of "look the other way" attitude the league has shown toward the (w)arriors. Breathe on curry, and get a foul. Assault someone's privates, and get a pass. The nerve
6
Admit it: You're just outraged because the Lakers stink. Right? Come on, admit it.
1
The entire NBA has figured out just this year that the way to slow down Steph Curry ( the smallest man on the court)is to beat the cr*p out of him off the ball. Pushing, grabbing his jersey, tripping him, elbowing him in the face and flat out wrapping him up and holding him — all acceptable ways of keeping him from getting open. These fouls are NEVER called. And when he has the ball, most teams brutalize him when they can catch him.
You need to watch some tape, as they say. Your bias is showing.

Hmmm... so how did they not call a flagrant foul on Dellavedova? He just got a foul, not a flagrant.

After the game, LeBron didn't even complain about the contact; he complained about the name Green called him. I suspect the NBA wants a 7-game series -- and the bucks it will generate. An outrageous decision.
16
Spoken like a true Warriors fan. Sorry, but Green has a bit of a history with this "technique". If anything. The NBA is being far too lenient. They should send a message that might get through his thick skull: 20 games.
Boo! "Would be King" James has been turned into a snarky, second-rate player by the finessse of Steph Curry and the Warriors. The league's suspension of Green was just rewarding a cry-baby. Hope the Warriors run "Cry-Baby" James and the Cavs out of the building tomorrow.
26
NBA action resorts to create drama, extend series, and boost ratings!
9
Green's recent past actions come home to roost; wrongly I think in this case, as after repeated watching of video of the incident it seems pretty clear that James was the instigator by knocking Green down with a flailing forearm--
Green then struggled to get up as James attempted to move forward over Green.
Seems like the NBA might have a stronger interest in extending the series than in enforcing a code of behavior.

31
Wow. If I instigate, then gonad assault becomes justified???the nerve of people today
5
If one instigates, retaliation is what the instigator is hoping for. Suspend both players.
1
The NBA treated Green leniently in the OKC series, when leniency might extend the series (which it did). Then the NBA treated Green harshly in the Cleveland series, when harshness might extend the series. Are these decisions possibly influenced by millions in television and arena revenue?
22
Not suspending Green in the OKC series didn't extend it seeing as the Warriors lost the game he could have been suspended and wasn't (it was extended because the Warriors won the nearly impossible 3 elimination games in a row after that), and the Warriors will likely win on Monday making the NBA's efforts for not in both cases.
I don't disagree though that extending series has been their intent in both cases.
I don't disagree though that extending series has been their intent in both cases.

Unable to gain an advantage playing the game, James turns provocateur, disrespects Green by stepping over him and Green rises to the bait. It's always the second guy who gets blamed. James and his hand-picked coach whine and the NBA caves. Here's to Golden State taking care of business on Monday through Strength in Numbers.
29
What a joke. Mayhem on every play including from LeBron and the NBA does nothing. Must want a seven game series badly. The sport is descending into hockey.
13
I'd rather watch Hockey... but tomorrow night I will watch the SF Warriors dismantle Lebra and the cav's In San Fransisco...
..."retroactively assessed the flagrant foul...hmmm...the NBA wouldn't be interested in extending the series a couple of more games, would it? Nothing too subjective about the reffing, is there? Maybe they should check the PSI's of the basketballs while they're at it.
11
Is the NBA choosing sides here as we near a possible end of the finals?
