Looking at Mr. Harvey's CAREER STATISTICS exactly where does the term "elite pitcher'" come into play? Does he deserve such noteriety and a megabucks contract???
Just as the stumble wasn't reason for panic, this one good outing, against a struggling White Sox team, isn't cause for celebrating. Next time, in a similar pitch count scenario, let's see him go 8 innings. The Mets need to start stretching guys out when their throwing quick innings, otherwise they're going to start hitting the wall come those long, cold nights in October.

There are a lot of games left in the season and the Mets have a lot of GOOD pitchers. Matz is not chopped liver. He's only 7 and 0. Jacob and Noah are also not to be sneezed at. And Wheeler. Let's see what he can do. AND HARVEY. WOW This is some kind of rotation. and isn't it fun to have Reed and Familia on the back end
I haven't seen one like this since the 1949, 1950, 1951 Yankees. Raschi, Reynolds, Lopat, Ford and Joe Page.
LET'S GO METS!!!!!

I love Harvey's talent and hope for both the Mets and the young man that yesterday's outing means the ship is righted. That said, I think the press are boobs for talking to him. If he cannot answer questions after bad outings, let's not fawn over him when he wins. After all, the questions when winning will be the same kind game after game. What's not right or acceptable is not making the pitcher or the pitching coach available. Bob Gibson and Nolan Ryan were men among boys. What we have here is a talented boy on the road to becoming a man. I am rooting for him to make it to honorable manhood.
As a Met fan living in Florida I have the good fortune to see Spring training games. Matt Harvey is a prima donna ball player. Not exactly fan friendly. As soon as his contract is up he will be gone from the Mets. Let time tell how valuable Harvey will be to the Mets this season. His ego lost the series for the Mets last year. He is a tough sell for true Mets fans. With a young pitching staff the Mets can do without the arrogance that Harvey has.

Maybe you could spare a paragraph to talk about the rest of the game? Quintana? Walker?

With Wright, Duda and D'Arnaud all huge question marks, our Mets will rise or fall on how the replacements perform. Lately, spots 6-8 in the lineup look too much like last year's first half. Our replacement catchers can't hit. So Wilmer and now Loney need to. Starting tonight!
As a White Sox fan, I can say we are struggling, he had his mix of pitches and speeds but his locations were off a lot more then this article would lead on.

Great performance. Now's the time to trade him for offense, with Duda out and Wright very questionable, the Mets need a solid bat if they expect to remain close to the Nationals.

relieved. I thought the kid might be sick.
That "swagger" sauce can be overdone: concentration is key.

Not the only reason for his success yesterday, but I believe the veteran catcher Rene Rivera, deserves a lot of credit for how he handled Harvey. I'd pair them up again his next start.

A taste of humility is like caster oil, it may not taste good but it works. We'll see how Harvey does with a team that can hit.

I have no doubt that the Mets will be playing in the World Series again this year. I just hope are big bats (i.e. Duda and Wright) can get better soon.
However, we do have a secret weapon: Wilmer!!

Maybe being humbled a bit leaves nothing taken for granted. Good.

woo hoo--sample size of 1! he's going to be the cy young winner this year!

comeback player of the year too!
batman is back -oh what a relief that is-yesterday was all about location on both sides of the plate -did not go for as many off speeds as the in the world series but man what works works

So now maybe the Mets will start hitting. This will get very interesting when Wheeler returns. The staff could be seriously good.

Encouraging that he worked out of trouble in the seventh, when the third time through the order has murdered him. He needs some of the bulldog qualities deGrom and Syndergaard show when they have adversity strike. Too often this year, Harvey hasn't had that. Now we need to see it regularly. If he's right again, the rotation will be nails.
