Donald Trump has promised us THE BEST WEATHER if he's elected!

I'm just surprised how wrong all the long term weather forecasts have been this year: this was supposed to be a way warmer than average spring in the NE.

I believe this is the second Friday in a row that you have the March links in "See this weekend’s listings for Hudson Valley, Long Island, New Jersey and Connecticut." I would be great to see what's happening this weekend. Thanks.

PACKIN' IT IN
Ain't no such thing as a free lunch,
A thing we always took on the chin,
And now that non-lunch got even worse--
Ain't no plastic bag to pack it in.

“with the sun expected to peek out only after you kiss your mother goodbye on Sunday afternoon”
Feels like a song cue somehow.
Tune of “What I Did for Love”
Kiss your day goodbye
Drive right on through the showers
She would brave the rain for you
So let’s not regret
What we do for Mom, what we do for Mom
Look, the price is high
But don’t just bring her flowers
Bring some cards and candy, too
Since we’re in her debt -
What we do for Mom, what we do for Mom
Gone, Mother’s Day’s now gone
But your love lives on
If you’re a big spender
Kiss your Mom goodbye
You spent like seven hours
And you made a big to-do
Get in debt, don’t regret,
What you did for Mom
What you did for Mom
Feels like a song cue somehow.

Freddie, my mother and I are chortling in a waiting room at Sloan-Kettering, a place not usually associated with chortling. Thank you for the pick-me-up before my beautiful mother undergoes yet another "procedure" on this grim day, weather-wise and otherwise.

Butterfield8, I don't know whether you believe in the intangible vibes of religion-related traditions, but if you want to e-mail me the name to use, we'll include your Mom in our refuah shleimah ("complete healing") prayer in synagogue. My aol address is FJL1960 Sending so much love to you and your dear Mom.
(To moderators - If this is not appropriate to post as a comment, could you kindly send to Butterfield8?)

Freddie, I now believe in it all- especially in the power of a congregation of Jewish faithful praying for the full recovery of the mother of a long-lapsed Catholic.
Thank you for your extraordinary offer and your kindness, and I will gratefully send along her name.
I also extend to you, and to all of the "New York Today" community, my best wishes for a Happy Mother's Day...the "rather hopeless" hair forecast predicted by Jonathan notwithstanding!

For years I have poked fun at this column for being "weather-obsessed". But I do have to admit defeat and come on board. This is too much. Have we reached 40 days and 40 nights of continuous rain yet? I have actually taken this upcoming Monday off as a vacation day so (assuming the forecast is correct) I might have a single dry day to mow the lawn.
Grin and bear it, I suppose?

Billy, your post reminded me of, and got me searching for, the classic "It's always time for the weather" bit from the first Dick Van Dyke Show -

Do people of a certain age remember the lovely tradition of wearing a carnation on Mother's Day? A pink one if your mother was alive, a white one if she wasn't.

That's nice...let's re-engage the tradition!
