Never occurred to me before, but: Who did the dishes at the Last Supper?

What a beautiful article!! I am very moved by the great love shown by a son and his beloved for a mother and her changed abilities to keep the lifetime family religious tradition.
Thanks so much for publishing this article!

Isn't glad you can't make this up?
I remember being caught unawares to give a toast for thanksgiving. I don't know where it came from, but it was along the line of "think of everything God had to do to bring each of us here at this time, in this company, and make us all grateful to be together."
Why is this night different from all others?
Because, blessings rain down on us, together.

There are many reasons for assisted living to exist, but to keep Sysco in business is the worst decision EVER. You guys are rock stars!!

What a joy to read!

Lovely! And I'll bet it was as wonderful for you and your partner as it was for the ladies. A mitzvah!

Lovely! May you reap the rewards of love and thoughtfulness.

Sweet. but why would you have thought it was ok to make your mother schlep to ny in the first place, at that age?

This was great. It reminds me of the Thanksgiving when all my brothers were in the kitchen cooking and all of us women were watching the Packer game.

Oy, this is making me cry.

My fabulous & constantly kind & loving friends Henri & Michael invited me , his Mom Jacquie , & her two friends Molly & Sarah to a lovely Coral Springs restaurant for a Passover holiday dinner . Dessert which they also provided , was served later in gracious Jacquie's retirement community apartment .
Long after the last macaroons were gone, the feelings of their very warmest embrace . efforts & caring continue to nourish & uplift us ...

Thank you for this. There is not one note of condescension in the writing - rare in these days in which ageism is our most prevalent ism.

A lovely inspiration, and also wonderful to hear the spirit relishing the changes that have taken 100 years (more or less!).

You and your partner are good guys. My mother is an assisted living in New York. I guess they are all given the same scripts when they enter these places...the food, what was, etc. Thank God we still have them.

Best diary I've read in a while. Thanks, NYTs!
