What the efforts to help women conceive at increasingly advanced ages seems to overlook is the fact that having a baby is only the first small step in the decades long journey of parenthood. Giving birth in your mid to late forties (or older) may not be that difficult, but navigating your child's adolescence and early adulthood while dealing with the physical, financial and other challenges that can arise in your sixties and seventies is an entirely different story. I'm not saying that women and men should never become parents later in life, but they should think hard about the challenges it presents before complacently choosing to delay childbearing to advance a career first, for example.

It would be interesting to know how many of these frozen eggs turn into babies. My guess would be, not many.
