Thank you - you give justification in print for the proper way to eat a Kit Kat. My family has teased and berated me for this for 40 years!

Necco wafers completely owns any thread about legacy candy. How do they sell any of this? Actually, even in 19c New England, it's hard to imagine how anyone ever thought a Necco wafer was even remotely worth the calories? Agree about marzipan too. But maybe a previous commenter is correct and I just haven't tried fresh?

How could Trump possibly call you the "fake news", when you've so correctly identified Coffee Crisp as the national candy of Canada? Good friends send me care packages of them!

Any chance of you sending a representative sample to enhance reader appreciation of this major research effort?

Don’t bother with US Cadbury, made by Hershey. (Yuck.). Anyone visiting me from Ireland or the UK knows to bring Cadbury’s. The more choice the better.

It took me a few decades of life to skip candy that is all just sugar. Not worth the calories. Chocolate on the other hand.....

Thankfully my Mom believed in good nutrition - we enjoyed fresh fruit and homemade cakes or cookies as opposed to mass produced candy. I don't even know what 90% of the mentioned candies are!

Good nutrition can include the occasional candy! There's no moral superiority in abstaining from sweets.

Maybe it's because of the season but I love candy corn. It has absolutely no nutritional value. It's loaded with sugar. But it is so hard to resist.

It is all about texture for me which Kimmerle seems to ignore. Bitter also seems to be absent in her vocabulary but the combination of bitter and sweet is what makes dark chocolate interesting. Artificial v real makes an enormous difference as does fresh v stale. Most people hate marzipan because they no experience with freshly made marzipan.

Theo organic milk chocolate! Because it's 44% cocoa and because it's organic it has great distinction . And it's very sad that years ago Mars stopped making Snickers with butter. Fear of butter is irrational.
