‘Bad Boys For Life’ Big With $6M+ Thursday Night

Comments
Hey a sequel that is super late that is managing not to bomb!
I’m not surprised though, bad boys was huge and this one is apparently pretty good
Bad Boys 2 aged very well, and those, like myself, who fondly remember it, were super psyched that it finally got a sequel. I'm not surprised to see this one overperforming.
I enjoyed it. At times I thought it was a little over the top but it was hilarious and kept you engaged the whole time.
"You ain't seen Bad Boys 2?"
With a January release no less, thought we were getting a stinker for sure.
It is. Saw it last night. The audience loved it. Becuase it's not Bay (who has a cameo) it doesn't play as much like a showreel. There's a real story that has some surprising turns.
Will wanted to make sure this didn’t suck. That’s why it took so long lol
A colleague’s husband went to the movie midday and had to preselect his seats. There were barely any seats available online but once he got to the theater he said it was nearly empty. Purely anecdotal but I wonder if studios are purchasing seats to inflate the opening weekend numbers (not that I think Bad Boys needed it).
Sony’s Bad Boys for Life, a sequel 17 years in the waiting, previewed at 3,154 theaters last night making a great $6.36M. That amount for the R-rated film is bigger than American Sniper‘s $5.3M preview, which turned out to be the record opener over the 2015 MLK holiday with a 4-day of $107.2M.
The Will Smith and Martin Lawrence re-team drew 39% African american, 33% Caucasian, 17% Hispanic, 4% Asian, and 7% others. Dominant crowds were 45% males 25+, 28% females 25+, 16% males under 25, and 10% females under 25
Thursday night audience really liked what they saw giving the Adil and Bilall directed action film 4 1/2 stars and a 73% definite recommend.
Universal’s Dolittle previews began at 5PM yesterday with a very low $925K at 3,050 theaters. Pic expands to 4,155 locations today. The $175M production is expected to bomb this weekend with a $24M-$28M tally
Exits for the Robert Downey Jr. were better among families who turned out at 43% on PostTrak with 4 1/2 stars from parents (17%) and 4 1/2 stars from kids under 12 (26%). General audiences at 57% stuck their tongues out at the taking animal movie giving it 2 1/2
Sounds like a B or B+ CS for Dolittle.
Universal is having their worst time. First cats, now this. Also their "monsterverse" didn't gain momentum. Wonder how long will Furious and Jurassic franchises carry them.
So ~$360 million domestic total?
Wow! This is a big surprise. I’m calling it now, second biggest OW for the month of January!
WOAH! 50M OW coming up?
I knew it would be at least 5M+ ! Seen a lot of hype for this that hasn’t been translated on this sub, I’m really excited to see it myself. 57-60M for the 4 day?
It's because of the demographic of this subs. Reddit has a history off not knowing what the general public outside will do or want.
this sub is a bubble afterall
This just in, Reddits demo of 18-24 year old white men greatly underestimated Bad Boys 3.
Just went to a cinema for the first time in my life and watched this movie, I must say it was great
First time in your life?
Welcome to Earf
Sony has been on a roll in December January season since a few years now... Good for them!
I agree. Now if only Paramount could be half as successful.
Where all the reddit arm chair marketers at now?
Previous films aged well in the minds of audiences, no competition in the genre, best reviews of the franchise, decent trailers, etc.
Crazy. Saw it last night. The audience loved it. Applause at the end. A bunch of scenes play really well. Even better for them - they have set themselves up for a Fast/Furious style franchise, if they can get them out fast enough. Very surprised.
I think $50M for the 3-Day is possible. That’s really good.
Wow that’s huge. $60M including MLK seems likely if not a little higher
I am going big and saying 75m holidayweekend
What the shit? That's crazy good. $55M four day at least I'd imagine.
Loved the film!
I'm not surprised. I wasn't a big fan of the other two, but this movie was a pleasant surprise
Because you take Bay out of the equation
This film focuses a lot more on characters and emotion, Bay would have never been able to pull this film off. Not saying its Shakespeare but it was a nice step up.
But Will Smith star Power is Supposedly Dead..
Exits for the Robert Downey Jr. were better among families who turned out at 43% on PostTrak with 4 1/2 stars from parents (17%) and 4 1/2 stars from kids under 12 (26%). General audiences at 57% stuck their tongues out at the taking animal movie giving it 2 1/2
As someone else said this is trending huge among African American audience
The Will Smith and Martin Lawrence re-team drew 39% African american, 33% Caucasian, 17% Hispanic, 4% Asian, and 7% others. Dominant crowds were 45% males 25+, 28% females 25+, 16% males under 25, and 10% females under 25
Thursday night audience really liked what they saw giving the Adil and Bilall directed action film 4 1/2 stars and a 73% definite recommend.
What a fun movie, loved all 3!
This is a great movie. It was better than the first two, and it had depth. I liked it a lot.
Did they use that facial technology on Martin Lawrence in this movie?
Reviewman give Doctor Dolittle no break
Box office analyseman give Doctor Dolittle no break
Not even budgeman give Doctor Dolittle no break
hey hey
I'm overseas...fuck didnt even know this was a thing
They'll turn out for this but not men in black international or gemini man. Why?
Because this one seems like it’s actually good lol
Will Smith is a draw only in franchises.
I’m shocked, looks like shit with an overly aggressive social media campaign
So far 76% critics score on RT and a 99% audience score. Seems to be pretty good
