I listened to the audiobook. I remember that day like it was yesterday. I was studying for exams in Long Island that day when someone announced out loud in our silent study hall that planes just hit the towers. We rushed home, saw everything on the news. On the drive to school the next day, the smell of burnt rubber and chemicals was hard to miss. I thought I had seen every interview, video, article, report, documentary on 9/11, but this book feels like it brings you right back to that day. One excerpt from the book that was particularly chilling was that of a women who watched American flight 77 fly be her on its way to the pentagon. She said she saw a human figure in the rear of the plane, staring out the window. I can’t imagine the torment those passengers had to endure in their final few minutes.
