Ridiculous waste of talent.
Angela Onorato (Rancho Cordova Ca)
This is the kind of show that I just like to go with flow. I let the action and characters do the work. I did figure out early on that the old man in the wheelchair, Mr. Reeves, was the little boy who was sent away by his parents with the note to take care of him. The fact that he is Angela Abar's grandfather doesn't surprise me either. Jean Smart as Laurie Baker is brilliant. I love her no-nonsense approach. Of course the weirdest character is the one played by Jeremy Irons. He is definitely a sociopath which is why he is being kept in isolation. At first I thought his servants were AI's but now I know they are clones. He also has a backstory in the original version but I don't want to do spoilers. I did watch a recap on You Tube with summarizes the original graphic novel plots and characters so I have an idea who the main players are and what they did. I've also watched the first You Tube episode of the animated graphic novels as mentioned by Collen below. (Watchmen Graphic Novel) Not sure if I will have time to watch all 14 episodes. I did think that it was hilarious that Laurie's voice was done by a man. For now I will continue to watch this show as it keeps me fascinated.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Calvin is Manhattan. The dislike of lies, the way he told the girls there is no afterlife. There was also references to an accident and Vietnam.

@Ash Interesting prediction!

Never read the comics and can’t recall anything much from the movie! Other then I like it. So far I’m mesmerized and hope the story will make some sense. Loved reading the Uproxx article! Thanks.

Did Jean Smart just come in and own this show or what???!!!

It's been intriguing and I can't look away. But something is gnawing at the back of my mind that it will fall apart at the end and the payoff will be a let down, like final seasons of Lost.

The scarcity of comments tells me that most people are stupefied by this show. Me, I'm getting annoyed by the weirdness, visually arresting though it may be. The series is half done and more questions arise every week than are answered.

I really don't know what to make of this series but I love the weirdness of it. And I will watch anything Jeremy Irons is part of.

After last week's episode, my father and I made our own predictions of where Ozymandias was at. I predicted that he was somewhere in space trapped on mars. My father predicted that Ozymandias was trapped in some time loop. So far I believe I am right.

A delightful bevy of truth telling in this episode, especially the scene of the 4 year old daughter asking about the afterlife. How refreshing, yet I admit I will not be eating lobster any time soon. That was an agonizing scene.
Merlin Balke (Kentucky)
Not enough damage to Angela’s car after being dropped from the sky.

Over-the-top, offbeat and utterly enigmatic, this show resides in wonderfully strange spaces and honestly, I can't get enough. I feel perfectly at home with this show and I never even read the original Watchmen comic, which at some point I think I should. (Granted, I did some research, and I think I get some of the references.) And then, oh yes, there's Jean Smart, who at 68, has become the coolest human being on earth.
Colleen (Florida)
@Chris you can watch the graphics comic someone did audio and music for on YouTube search ‘Watchmen Graphic Novel’ if you have time (I’m retired) so good.

Looking Glass lives in "the hatch" from Lost. Lube Man is Petey, a super hero fan-atic turned costume crusader. Is Treiu supposed to be (or like)the naked child running in the road from the famous photo from the Vietnam war? Is she a clone of a clone etc. ? Veidt's clones are "born" with memories, perhaps from the original's minds, so Treiu and Reeves for that matter, can be the same. Each clone retains the memories of the previous one. Also how did she make her money? Is one of the characters really Dr. Manhattan? If you want to make an omelet you have to break a few eggs.

Watchmen has very quickly jumped to the top of my weekly viewing list. I'm loving the intricate world-building and the modern-day commentary. I don't know how -- or if! -- the threads will come together, but I'm thoroughly enjoying the journey, regardless.
Mark (Chicago)
I ask with all sincerity... what else is on your list. I love Watchmen, but I Disagree with those who say we are living in a golden age of television.
MockingbirdGirl (USA)
@Mark Better Call Saul, Killing Eve, Gentleman Jack, His Dark Materials, GLOW, Unbelievable, Mindhunter, Derry Girls, The Good Place, and until recently, The Deuce. I'm not struggling to find shows worth my time.

Only way these days to get people to consider race, class, power, afterlife, etc is to weave it into sci fi/superhero stuff. Love it. Can't wait for Leftovers Season 4.
Steve (Cleveland)
Will not watch it again. Looks like a West World mishap: A lot of shock but no awe. Don’t waste your time.

Cal's commentary on the afterlife was satisfying in reference to how the creators of Lost chose to resolve that show.
Bis K (Australia)
I am so impressed by this very stylish if kooky show. Damon Lindelof is a genius.
Julio (Las Vegas)
Even playing "Eggman" during the closing credits of episode two was not sufficient to clue me in to the egg theme. But ok, after the first few minutes of episode three, I got it! I still do not have a clue where this theme, or the rest of the story is headed, but I continue to enjoy the ride. Though the fact that I laughed out loud in response to Veidt's "I had a rough night" comment when surveying the clone carnage has me seriously worried about my own moral compass. As for Reeves being ambulatory, the man is still over 100 years old, so I suspect that Crawford may have met his fate willingly (or at least as an alternative to having his secret life/past exposed).
BR (NYC)
@Julio Veidt's "I had a rough night" reminded me of Jeremy Irons-as-Klaus Von Bulow/Scar's infamous "You have no idea"
GJR (NY NY)
@BR Yes! He is so wonderfully awful...such a brilliant actor. I'm loving this show and all its strange, unpredictable turns.
ETF (NJ)
@Julio Reeves might also be benefitting from Trieu's advanced pharma tech.
