A few days ago, with Houston having taken three in a row in DC, the NYT declared them a team without a weakness that would inevitably win the series.
Now, for the first time in history, the Nats won four on the road, including game 7, and proved that heart and desire can prevail, even with the odds against you.
No one thought the Nats had a chance against the mighty Astros, and they proved everyone wrong.

Sounds like a good guy but his talent isn't "God-given. " He's got good genes and has made the most of them. I appreciate great athletes being humble, but they can do that while taking credit for their success. I'm so sick of athletes thanking God or pointing skyward after a home run. It's one reason I stopped watching sports.

Rendon is a decidedly class act and all the more amazing in this era when class so often is outplayed by crass. Well done!

What a contrast between Rendon and Altuve! Rendon is the definition of a hero. I can't even post what Altuve defines with his smirks and spitting and arrogance. Rendon is a wonderful role model for anyone participating in sport. I am so happy the Nationals won!

The best news from DC in ages
Is splashing across the newspages
The World Series is done

Good tidings whatever your gauge is

Great dude, great ball player. You know the NYC cliche: He’d look great in pinstripes.

Was one of the best World Series in recent memory. Great play by both teams! Unfortunately this series will probably be most remembered for the cruel irony all 7 games being won by the visiting team.

Great sports reporting as usual, Tyler.
But while you pointed out that Rendon attended Rice University here in Houston, you could have noted that he also graduated from high school here.
In other words, it's ironic that a native Houstonian -- and I assume the members of his family as well -- came home to play a key role in defeating the Astros.

What a refreshing contrast to our president.

@alexander michael How about $210M for seven years as President?

The way Rendon sees the ball to the instant of contact reminds me of how fellow future Hall of Famer Albert Pujols, during his best years with the St. Louis Cardinals, also used to see the ball.
Contact is a given for them, and hits come in buckets.
It's as if what they see isn't a baseball, but a softball. Or probably more accurately: a beach ball.

It might have been one of the least watched series in baseball history but it was the best darn great seven game series of baseball in a long, long time. Yes, just plain good baseball. Two "non-great" teams with extraordinarily great players grinding it out to the end. Thank you both teams, you did baseball good. Now its time to reunite with my wife on those dark fall evenings.

I watched every game! Once our beloved RedSox were out of contention, we needed someone else to root for. The Nationals were it! Great series. But next year I’m back rooting for the Sox!

He should have won the WS MVP award. He made some great defensive plays along with his hitting.
