To the author of the article, please do some research of the causes of the extinction. Simplifications like “A big meteor did it” are silly and without justification.

There was a PBS doc about this on recently.
It was a bright light in the recent trend of PBS docs to be formatted like children's programs where the people all speak to us like we are 5 years old with faked enthusiasm and overly emotional language.

A sonnet, about discovery, I wrote some time back:
Green
In March, a distant memory of green
Awakens in the desert, and shows us
New ways to see and new things to be seen
Even as the memory of the cold
Wet winds that froze us of late has taken
Flight in light of the always hot and dry
Desert we know and have always known. Thus
We sleep through our lives lest the alarum
Of days brings to light the old buried
Ways of life. I see warm, wet ground, a lake.
Pleistocene camels walk in mud and leave
Footprints and vertebrae for us to find
In this real desert and the one in mind.
