Three charming homes reasonably priced.

Astonishing that a house well north of Portland Me has AC - the world's climate-goose is truly cooking.

Richmond is such a lovely little town, and I’m so happy to see it featured here in the Times. It’s nicknamed “the Acropolis on the Kennebec” because of its wealth of Greek Revival homes from the town’s heyday during the whaling era, when local pine trees were sent down the river en route to New Bedford to become masts for whaling ships. Also, it has the best local bar and panini joint, The Old Goat.

Surprised the Maine house didn't mention its proximity to Brunswick, Maine. Really adorable town less than 25 minutes away with a great food scene and home to Bowdoin College.

SweePea, you are so right! I used to love What You Get but stopped reading it when I realized it catered to people who thought they deserved Donald Trump's tax cut.

The first one gets my vote. even with the urinals of Ireland poster.
NYC Dweller (NYC)
I loved the Maine house

@NYC Dweller Rural New England is all that

I offered far over the asking price of $225,000 for this home a few weeks ago and was turned down. There was no other offer at the time, the Seller just wanted more and the Seller's Agent facilitated him. That agent was not in compliance with the rules and regulations of his Maine licensing agency which require accuracy in the listing. Shame that it is featured in The Times with this same false listing price.
Paul Adams (Stony Brook)
@Julie B - he probably knew that the Times piece was imminent.

@Julie B Why does this not surprise me? Realtors and used car dealers -- incisors on the same rat.
SweePea (Rural)
Thanks for focusing on affordable homes. You should do this more often. Most people in the US can't afford the properties that you usually spotlight.
Val (Toronto)
I know, I can really see myself living in one of these :) the million dollar properties are all so ridiculous
ElleMarie (Vermont)
@SweePea That's for darn sure!
Ryan Bingham (Up there...)
Amazing.
Michael Percy (Maine)
Richmond, Maine cottage - Don't confuse Swan Island in the Kennebec, which you can apparently see from this house, with Swan's Island In Jericho Bay, which one could not possibly see from this house. My family first settled in Maine on Swan Island about 1730. The mentioned Maine Maritime Museum is on the grounds of the old Percy & Small shipyard - eyup, another ancestor, and a fabulous one to visit.

@Michael Percy My beloved Bouvier des Flandres, Percy, is named for that shipyard. Thought you might like to know that your ancestors are honored in lots of ways to this day.
