What a lot of stuff to endure in only 6 years. Nice to read that more hope than doubt has filled this marriage. I guess I'm extremely lucky because my husband and I feel our 38+ years of marriage feels more like only 38+ days of marriage. Best wishes for a very long, happy and blissful life together.

Wow you take on a lot! Your first marriage fell due to infidelity, not jealousy. Place the blame where it belongs!

So strong, but vulnerable all the same. A deft touch. I hope he appreciates all that she is. If he does, he’s fortunate beyond words. If he doesn’t, I’m sorry for him.

This is a beautiful article. I had not thought deeply about the associated gifts with each year of a marriage. Thank you for sharing.

Interesting if you could also get your husband to write about it. For ourselves, we rarely celebrate anything about our anniversaries. We did have a fairly large party for our 30th some years ago. I gave my wife a picture framed and matted Kraft macaroni and cheese box to remind us of our 5th wedding anniversary when both of us forgot it until we were sitting down to mac and cheese for dinner.

What a lovely essay; what I take away most is a sense of hope.

Congratulations on working things out. Every marriage has difficulties and love.

Thank you for this beautifully written story that gives meaning to the types of anniversaries, and thanks for being so vulnerable in sharing the truths of your lives together. May you have a long and wonderful marriage.

This story touches me with its many languages of love. Gayle's words are a gift to readers seeking a deeper connection to the inner work (and play) of profound relationships. Thank you, Gayle, for a view into your heart.
