The author fails to mention other galleries that have been in Tribeca for a while already... Cheryl Hazan, Sapar Contemporary come to mind...

Here’s to LaMonte Young and Marian Zazeela, who have kept the Dream House alive at 275 Church St since the early 60s, long before there was a TriBeCa or even a Soho. True artists and visionary survivors. Go visit while you still can.

@Keef In cucamonga Hasn't (or didn't) the Dia Foundation help?

They gave assistance to LaMonte and Marian especially in the later 1970s, when DIA commissioned the largest ever Dream House at 6 Harrison St (also now Tribeca), which lasted from 1979-1985, when Dia went through a major crisis and was forced to sell off much of their real estate. But I believe that Dia Foundation has remained a supporter of LaMonte and Marian, to some degree, ever since. This all goes back to when Heiner Friedrich, who cofounded Dia, hosted them at his Galerie X in Munich in 1969, which resulted in the incredible so-called Black Album. Friedrich helped found Dia (as Lone Star, at first) a few years later, largely with the idea of supporting artists just like LaMonte Young.
