Train Delayed? Relax With a Bolivian Pastry and Bubble Tea

I remember the hot dog stands on the Times Square and Grand Central shuttle station platforms. I used to stop and eat there in between trains all the time. Then some idiot in the Koch administration shut them down to relieve "clutter." Rank stupidity continues to reign. Upscale restaurants in the subways? I don't think so. Bring back the hot dog stands.

I cannot see myself buying food or drink in a subway station. Adding such establishments seems to be catering to the rat population more than the human. The heat in summer, cold in winter and smell of urine..... adding alcohol sales will hardly improve the latter. Perhaps the MTA might try building clean and safe rest rooms instead.

Stores need to be inside the toll booths not outside them as at Columbus Circle. I want to get off the train, “get a slice of pizza” and get back on.

The classic "lipstick on a pig" kind of solution that changes nothing of the sub-par service the MTA provides.

Legalize marijuana and use some of the tax proceeds to upgrade the subways. Not having full time internet access throughout the subway system prevents the working class form competing with the workforce that can afford to commute above ground.

Cheers to internet availability throughout subway system for equality and otherwise

Low ceilings, dingy lighting, grime, hot in the summer and cold in the winter, various odors wafting through, and trains constantly rumbling. All the elements for upscale shopping, cocktails and dinner. In Japan, for example, you can shop and dine very well in train stations, but the trains and the station are spotlessly clean and timetables are strictly observed. Learn to walk before you try to run, MTA.

@Pat The difference is the people. Our police seem to have no compunction with allowing schizo junkies to set up camp in the stations, and relieve themselves wherever they please. If the police actually enforced the laws, we could have a clean transit system too. But god forbid some politician get called out by bleeding hearts for evicting a vagrant from their cardboard box.
