The Colorado house is extraordinarily ugly, both on the inside and out.

Crested Butte is beautiful, but children’s area with so much stone around fireplace? Strange!
When I saw the exterior photo of the well-maintained NJ Victorian, I couldn't wait to see the interior, expecting to see a beautiful, authentic restoration. What a disappointment! The current owners have completely destroyed this classic Victorian with absurd, god-awful, & tacky elements in the name of their "style". Why on earth did they buy a classic Victorian & then ruin with their contemporary interior? Just another example that money & good taste are not always synonymous...

I felt shortchanged by the lack of photos of the New Jersey home. The interior changes are so extensive, I want to see more.
Of the three homes offered, I'll take New Jersey. I think it is beautiful. Two different worlds: outside and in.
The ski house is not for me. How does the owner treat (as in maintain) all the interion wood?

You know, of course, that one can generally click on the realtor link at the bottom of the story. I quite often go to the realtor site to get more pictures.

The Crested Butte house is nifty but I don't like the mountains. And that Beautiful Victorian (from the outside anyway) was hideous. Cold and uninviting. Why do people feel the need to gut a house like that? Just buy new. Hideous.

$1.6 million and at least one owner must be an artist. So an artist with someone who has a lot of money as the vast majority of artists aren't in that league.

The so-called renovation of that Victorian home is appalling. Incredibly disrespectful.

Wow, lots of money must have gone into turning that Victorian into a modern Manhattan condo. Whyyyyyy?

The Crested Butte house is amazing! The Moorestown house, at first glance, immediately made me think “This is exactly what’s wrong with Americans”. Massive, unnecessarily fancy, kind of cold, and... did I mention massive?! What’s up with the master bathroom?! Gross.

The property tax on NJ Victorian homes is outrageous. That's why so many from NJ have moved to Charlottesville, Va.
Years ago, every new person I met moved here from NJ and mentioned the real estate tax as their reason for re-locating. It's also a pretty sweet small town to raise your children.

@Sandi
Every new person you met was from NJ and moved specifically for the real estate tax? Extraordinary!
And recent events would say Charlottesville may not be so pure.
And I quite like NJ with their consistent top tier status in quality of life metrics, leafy suburbs and unpretentious vibe. Real estate tax rates tend to keep values in check.

@caljn
Agree! And NJ has highest-rated public schools in the country. You get what you pay for!

The owners of the Victorian in Moorestown sure did ruin it by ripping out or painting over almost all of the original details and woodwork. If you want a modernist style house, then buy one. Don't destroy a beautiful old one. Please.
