in the establishment or not, we can identify ourselves with our value and vocation to live our lives the way we choose. to be or not to be? this is the question.

I would suggest that the protestors do three things: 1) Weed out the agent provocateurs in their midst who are inciting the violence at the behest of their Communist bosses; 2) Put a stop to all violent acts against the police and property; 3) Enlist the Hong Kong police to stand with them in their cause. Appeal to them as fellow Hong Kongers who will suffer just as much as everyone else does under Communist rule. If the police stand with the people, the HK government will be forced to make changes, including the resignation of Carrie Lam. Mainland China will have to think long and hard about invading Hong Kong with its shock troops and how that will look to the rest of the world.

I'm all on the side of the protesters, but not when it comes to shining laser lights into the eyes of the police. That is inherently hostile to the police personnel as flesh-and-blood people. As a defensive tactic in close combat, maybe it's justified against the bone-breaking baton, but trying to blind someone from a distance is just wrong.

Sunny, may your love for each other keep you and your husband together. Ms. Yau, your courage is awesome.
