We've always loved hurricane lanterns. We eat by them almost every night. Your selection is nice, with several price points included. But where are the Wolfords? They make several varieties, but we live with their Classic Lamps. Sublime and lovely and perfect for nearly every occasion, indoor and out. Not an employee, not an investor, just a couple who love 'em.

That Blomus Nero is sublime.

I think the best candle I ever bought is made by Lucid. The flame is real, and there is no mess to ever clean up. And they are forever!

To paraphrase Dr. Hunter S. Thompson's famous attorney, Karl Lazlo, "As a candlemaker I advise that you all start buying more candles at once."

I bought two very large glass and iron hurricanes from Restoration hardware in 2012 after Hurricane Sandy, when the power was out for days and I had nothing to light up my place safely for long periods. I have yet to actually use the hurricanes beyond decoration but I feel pretty good about being ready if the power goes out again :)

I absolutely love the selection of hurricane lamps displayed. However, not a fan at all of the thick, bulky rope used to hang the three pictured lamps by Tortola, especially if displayed indoors. I think one of the coolest inventions are the flameless candles which can be substituted for real candles. No fear of flame, fire or burnt wood. The hyannis laterns with rope handles from Pottery Barn are absolutely perfect for the summer house. Now I just need to be able to afford a summer house . . . on the lake. Very cool article!!! Thanks for the ideas and suggestions.
