Thank you for this wonderful article. All of these dancers are phenomenal in their own right, and it's interesting to learn about how they spend their summer months. What these dancers all share is a high degree of dedication and commitment to an art form that demands rigor and discipline. I hope they enjoy every minute of their off-time, because they deserve it.

As a dance teacher and choreographer, I am always wary of the summer. Students vary their training from summer sessions in other dance companies to cross training. Some, however, do nothing but relax. Where this is good for mental health, it sets the student up for injury when they return in the fall. It is interesting to read about professionals and their summer plans.

I was a registered nurse over 30 years. I maintained sanity by watching ballet, modern dance and classical dancing of India. Other than riding my bicycle in mountains, the most burning inspiration in life was sitting near the stage during Act 2 of Sawn Lake.

When I was much younger I used to dance with Erick Hawkins and summers usually meant touring and perhaps a month long summer residency. It also meant getting out of the heat and humidity of New York City. Thank you for this fine article as it brought back lots of glorious memories.
