Ron Darling agreed with the move to bring in Lugo in the 7th inning -- pointing out that the days of the starter being allowed to finish the game (like this one was) are gone. Why? Matz was going great -- it's almost as if their manager reads from a script, forgetting to change the script when the actors adlib (like pitching only 79 pitches through six innings).

I will respect the Braves organization when they finally ban the Tomahawk Chop and its accompanying 1930s Hollywood "Injuns" musical chant. Time to grow up!

@sol hurok please go away....

Go Braves! But you have to get past the Dodgers and the Astros, and that’s gonna be near impossible.

As a (since 1962) Mets fan, I watched the game last night and sensed that this was the Mets' "Sylvester Moment." You know that point in the 'toon when the cat looks down and discovers he's been walking on air and gravity ensues. This piece illustrates why that is and will always be the case as long as Mets ownership remains in the hands of the Wilpons. Don't get me wrong. This not personal. So far as I can tell by major sports team-owner standards, the Wilpons are decent folks. But compared to other major mkt owners financially they're peanuts. Fact is the Mets have never had deep-pocketed owners and it was only the shrewd wheeling and dealing of Murphy (69) and Cashin (86) that yielded titles. Geeze, where's our Ted Turner? Or (obnoxious as he may be) Mark Cuban? Until we find him, we'll be subject to gimmickry. Like Brody van Wagenen.

AA did a great job for the Jays. Two championship runs. Atlanta is lucky to have him.

@will segen They still haven't put a timeline on it. It sounds like a bad bone bruise.
