"an achingly narrow defeat in the Democratic primary" I doubt it was "achingly" narrow for her opponent. So why not just stick to facts.

What, so it's Progressive or nothing - "Now what"? Really? Anything less wont do - As if that is the only persuasion a new DA could possibly be. Well the voters felt differently. This sense of entitlement is very annoying - Oh the heartbreak, oh the pain! As if she was next in the royal line - how about experience and common sense ideas rather than a label, maybe that will win votes.

I've got a suggestion about what she might do: Become a graceful loser and wish he opponent, the winner, good luck.

I have the utmost respect for Ms. Caban though I am glad she lost. Many of her ideas are seem reasonable to me but I can't get behind anyone who has hitched themselves to the Democratic Socialists and their disruptive, dangerous, unrealistic brand of pseudo-Marxism. I might have voted for her were it not for that affiliation.

Melinda Katz is a reformer and has the credentials to prove it.

Tiffany Caban was not representative of the values of the diverse working class people of Queens. Her support was rooted in the more affluent, gentrified western part of the borough. "Progressive" socialists do not represent the workers. They represent the white wine salon crowd in the wealthier neighborhoods whose only interest is in telling everybody else how to live their lives. They don't support workers. The election of the radical Caban would have been a disaster for the residents of Queens, our city, our state and in fact our nation. Democrats would be wise to disassociate themselves from these radical socialists.

Tiffany Caban and the people who supported her actually did gain a win. They changed the discussion in Queens regarding criminal justice reform in a way that Melinda Katz would never have pursued without Caban's remarkable insurgency. So, yeah, Katz is going to have to take the Queens District Attorney's office reform from here and we'll see what she makes of it. But, with a curious twist, now Caban is free to pursue other options (once she addresses her healthcare coverage concerns).
