Hi Corey and Benjamin, Old Hays is my great-great-great-etc. grandfather as well, so your article means a lot to me. Nice to find a relative! I have some "backstory" on Jacob Hays for you both. A bit much for this section.
How best to send?

This is fascinating. There is always so much to learn about NYC.
I wonder, did Mr. Hays go after Aaron Burr for shooting Alexander Hamilton, notwithstanding the scene of the shooting was in NJ? Either way, Mr. Singleton should get a freebie to see Hamilton.

This is really, rather cool.
PS. they have the same eyes.

I recently discovered that I had a great-great-great uncle who fought at Gettysburg, was wounded on the first day of battle, died a few months later, and was then buried at Gettysburg National Cemetery.
Regardless if one is a cop or a descendant of a Wisconsin Union solider, having a distinctive legacy of a loved one who served with honor and integrity, leaving their historical imprint, enriches the soul and deepens the respect and admiration of said loved one.
I thoroughly enjoyed the book, "Blue Blood" and this article. It's a breath of fresh air to read something positive and educational regarding the best and finest police work in the world - the NYPD!!
Love you guys (and gals) more than you know!!!

@Marge Keller
Apologies for the typo - I meant to write "the best and finest police FORCE in the world".

I always knew that my Great-great grandad fought in the Civil War. Just found out that his 3 brothers did also. There is always something new to learn
