I recall long ago death of Mr. Diallo. Missing from this story is the picture of him seen in so many publications. His was a wonderful smile, warm, honest and winning. And, his life story matched that smile. What a tragedy his death was. .

I admire her will and am humbled by her courage. Here's a link to her foundation which the article may have omitted. http://www.amadoudiallo.com/

Remember: Diallo was murdered on Giuliani's watch, Joe Lhota's racism is exactly why Giuliani joined him in Lhota's mayoral-campaign ads, and Giuliani's racism is exactly why the loser made Giuliani his lawyer. No accidents or coincidences—just unfettered, proud bigotry. I'm so sorry, Kadiatou Diallo, that you live among vile men. We'll fix this in 2020, if not before.

To learn more about Amadou Diallo's remarkable and loving family I recommend the documentary Death of Two Sons about Amadou and an American Peace Corps volunteer, Jesse Thyne who lived with Amadou's family at the time of his untimely death. Jesse died the next year in a fatal car accident. One death received swift and careful justice while the other has not. May we join together in love to honor and protect all our sons.

Yes, there is racial bias in law enforcement, as there is in every sector of society. But police deal in life and death situations. What makes the situation far more explosive than it needs to be, is the ever presence of guns in the US, which creates trigger finger reactions. Canada, which has a similar racial mix as America, does not see this situation of unarmed blacks killed in disproportionate numbers by the police. And in the UK, police don't even need guns for enforcement, despite a heavily diverse population. Racial mix does not have to lead to violence, including police brutality. But it needs enlightened policy and intervention. Ms. Diallo has the right approach.

My deepest condolences to Ms. Diallo who has pursued a 20 year path to building peace. Her son can be nothing less than his mother. Kind and helping others despite such a tragic loss. You are a good soul to do what’s right in your heart by helping others, especially the youth of all ethnicities. Be well.

My deep sympathies to the Diallo family. Please remember Michael Stewart, too.

I am heartened by this news and determination of these mothers who lost their sons. “They are All Our Sons!” We must learn how stay committed to protect each other with unity of purpose. Ida B. Wells paved the way, she is our teacher. Please keep us informed. The media keeps us aware.
