I personally like the toilet paper roll (and light switch) on the lava rock shower wall. So natural!

I live in Ohio, not exactly a high tax state. My property taxes, as a percentage of property value, fall roughly between the NJ and CA houses. Both of those look reasonable to me. The HI house's taxes are downright cheap! Have to wonder how many people commenting on the "high" taxes of these expensive houses get wrapped up in the dollar figure for the taxes without looking at them as a percentage of the property value.

NJ taxes are ridiculous. The LA house is nice enough. The Kauai house would be sweet, assuming you didn’t need to work or could work from home, but I might opt for a smaller place closer to the ocean. All three could be had with the right lottery ticket.

Anyone else feel that the 'Tudor' would be better described as 'Arts and Crafts'?

Nice choices of homes. Taxes are a bit off putting. Rooftop parking in a convenient solution for building on steep slopes. I've seen it used in Mill Valley, CA too.

I love that the description of the Hawaii house includes its proximity to a Costco. That might seal the deal for a $1.5 million property!

@Maria That is depressing.

@Maria On a remote island with few stores, it definitely plays a role! Plus, when I visited Hawaii, I remember the gas at Costco being $0.60-0.70/gallon cheaper than at other places!

@Maria Mebbe shopping at Costco is how a prospective buyer could pay the mortgage for the $1.5M...
