It's so amazing that players not making the big buck-like Domingo--are the ones pulling the load for these Yankees. Can't remember last time I enjoyed a Yanks team as much as this one. Still rooting against the Rays & Sox to ensure the joy is properly rewarded.

I’ve had the same thoughts. Hope the guys making the absurd bucks are treating for dinner and some. Always seems like once you fork out the big money a player never lives up to it.

Yankees would be crazy to move him out of the rotation if they pick up another starter. Take away the few starts during which he was hurt and he has been the team’s best starter by far.

Sounds like he’s telling to stay focused outside the line as well as in them. He’s got at least one more guy on that team who has to stay disciplined and that guy could be looking at Harper money.Good Luck to both.

San Pedro De Macoris, is my mother's hometown and according to the official website of Major League Baseball, the city in the Dominican Republic produces more professional baseball players per capita than any other place on earth. I'm so proud of German's season and even more proud of Cabrera's selfless advice. Baseball is life in DR. I have a brother who is a senior manager for Lefrak Organization. He never played or cares much for baseball but can easily get my relatives a building superintendent job. I, on the other hand played baseball in college and have coached travel baseball 20 years. Which brother do you think is sought after more for advice during our family gatherings?

I love baseball and I love data. When Bill James put out his baseball abstracts I was beside myself with joy. At 71 this op-ed is a joy. When computers started playing better baseball than humans I am overjoyed that psychology tells us the game belongs to us. If I can turn this into a metaphor. When is our humanity going to again be more important than the data. Machines pitch perfect games humans celebrate perfect games.

@Montreal Moe Bill James helped small market teams find winning strategies, while ruining the baseball stat-line for newsprint and baseball cards. It used to be so simple, and then overnight I have to learn 60 new acronyms...

This man named Abe had oodles of failures before he mentored our nation "...with malice toward none."
