I chose this article because i felt like an article that involved sports, one of my favorite things to do and sort of a woman's rights article would interest me. This article interested me because of the sports feature in the article that helped contribute to the theme of a leap for women's sports. In the article the author states “watching the soccer championships was the first time ive felt that women were being recognized as the incredible athletes that they can be.” This shows that before this year many people overlooked women as sports players but this year it was different in soccer. They dominated the whole tournament and were finally recognized as the amazing athletes they can be just like men are. This article is something I found interesting because I believe men and women should be treated equally. Over the years men get way more attendance, fans, money, and everything else for sports while women don't. Woman should have been getting just the same amount of fans and love instead of hate from fans around the world before this soccer game but this soccer championships was a big leap in women's sports. So many supporters and fans all around the world watched the USA team throughout the tournament and cheered and celebrated their victories. Not only the championship game but all the other game in the tournament showed how talented women really can be when it comes to sports and that may change people's choices in the future for women's sports.

It is truly amazing to see another stride in not only sports but in women's history, as in the past many people had disbelief in women's sports because, "they wouldn't have the endurance" or "their not strong enough". Women as a whole have come so far and have accomplished many amazing things throughout history. Beginning with the women's suffrage movement in 1848, women have changed the minds of the masses and proved their worth that was originally not respected a long time ago. Im truly happy and proud of the female community in their newest achievement which is getting recognition from people all over the world.
