Thanks Lucy. The smartest person in the room gives the best response to both earthquakes and climate change. The ability to do math usually tells us what our fears should be, not the efforts of the media to seek out histrionics.
I first saw Dr Lucy Jones in 1994 after the Northridge earthquake. Or rather I heard her as I had escaped the house into my car with my 2 pets and was shaking with fear. I turned the radio on and there she was calming us all with facts. At daybreak I made it to the house and once we got power again saw her on tv then carrying an infant as she discussed the facts. A great role model for women, a woman scientist and a mother proving we can do it all. I still feel calmer to this date when I hear her voice on tv.

Dr. Lucy Jones is a California treasure. During the July 4 and 5 quakes that we experienced, her ability to give the public understandable, no-nonsense, scientific explanations of what had already happened, and what was likely to follow, was interesting, and in some unexplainable way, calming. We are so fortunate to have her expertise.
