I think the only twists that need to be explained are why people are going to movies like this. I know A.O. Scott takes a blow-torch to some of the movies he reviews, but I have to agree with the last few years. The first Avengers was very good, but since then, nothing but empty shells. Disagree? Tell us what you've found redeeming about "Iron Man II" or the second Avengers movie?

That last bit with Mysterio revealing Peter Parker as Spidey really stunk. It was as if you just HAD to ruin the movie and the ending. I know you don't see it that way but so many will. You telling me you can't come up with something better for the next movie ? That revelation will be dogging Parker through most of the next movie - instead of oving on to the possibly great 1000 stories waiting in the wings... Boo

It's great extra content like this from the Times that makes me wonder why the Times continues to let A.O. Scott review Marvel films, especially since Scott's reviews are (always) nothing more than snit filled mini-rants with no insights. https://www.nytimes.com/2019/06/27/movies/spider-man-far-from-home-review.html?action=click&module=Well&pgtype=Homepage§ion=Movies&login=email&auth=login-email What irked me most about Scott's most recent review was his dismissive take on Tony Stark ("I thought we were starting to move past the breathless worship of narcissistic billionaire tech bros, but apparently not.") I found the 'Far From Home' story compelling and timely -- and the MCU Tony Stark to be one of cinema's all-time great characters. Tony Stark is a great fictional foil for today's headlines: (1) At the same time 'Far From Home' was premiering, the John Ive announcement was coming out from Apple. How is Apple doing these days without its narcissistic billionaire leader? (2) Also, at the same time as the opening week, the Elizabeth Holmes trial was announced for next summer. I guess it's pretty hard to be a tech genius after all. (3) And lastly, Ross Perot just passed away today. Perot was a crazy Texan from another era but we could use more of his swagger today, especially now that we won't have Robert Downey Jr. playing Tony Stark/Iron Man any more.
