Since the day the city took over the subway and and the state took over the trains there has been no actual modernizing improvements. The simple reason was to prevent fare increases which would have been politically incorrect. They have just patched, and only replaced what was unrepairable. Compared to China, Dublin, London, Japan, and the rest of Europe The New York Transit system is comparing the covered wagon with the Space Shuttle. When going to JFK & LGA the trip there takes longer than most flights.

Raise taxes, restrict business, drive out Amazon, all not a problem. Actually run anything with an iota efficiency, never happen as the city is run by career politicians who as individuals do nothing, and as a group make sure nothing can be done. If politicians words and promises were actual capability of accomplishment, NYC & the State would be the best place in the world.

Train service in Harlem is awful. Does anyone know if Assembly Member Inez Dickens knows if there are subways in her district?

@annoyed We can thank the party boss Keith Wright for not being "progressive" and progressively finding better candidates than that actually do something for their constituents. It would be great if NY Times interviewed her to see what legislation she has written, passed and what she is actually doing. That can be also asked of the https://nyassembly.gov/mem/Al-Taylor/story/78368 What's going on? There is no information of what he has done as proof of his website.

Re Summer of Hell Back - The first time, in regards to what's known to many as the Long Island Hell Road / Fair Road / Snail Road, summer 2017, that one time LIRR put a lot of effort into getting things right. Rescue locomotives, repair techs all in place around the railroad, and the lower demand on the East River tunnels led to LIRR actually having trains arrive on time - real time, not LIRR time. Not so much since then. Every single day I get emails about broken down trains, switches, signals and more. Amtrak is in poor shape, NJT worse. We had an opportunity to change the official late definition to 2 minutes from 6, but that didn't happen on the excuse that no one does 2. Hey bozo's - in Japan, if you are a second late, that's a national scandal. With LIRR, every single train leaves its starting point a minimum of a minute late, usually 2, on the grounds that people would miss their trains if they left on time. That's pitiful! Leave on time, and people will learn. But always leaving late, it just keeps up our disgust as commuters. Lie about when your train will hit your station, just leaves us more angry. At my station, the train will arrive announcements, if you can hear them, have ZERO connection to reality! LIRR continues to be known only for its mediocrity, and that won't change unless its behavior gets a lot better.

"a repeat of 2017's "Summer of Hell." tune of "I Remember It Well" We left on time - No, we left late. The mood - sublime! - No, just pure hate. Ah yes, I remember the Hell. They kept us up to date - Announcements were a joke. We had a pleasant wait. - Hey, what did you smoke? It warms me so to hear this buzz That service now is like it was - Oh no, I remember the Hell.

The game yesterday was AWESOME!!! But you've got to hand it to the Netherlands team (especially Sari Van Veenendaal, their goalkeeper) for playing a hard defense. That said. Bring on the ticker-tape parade. Go Team! Oh, and New Jersey if you are listening...
